ha, i totally didn't notice you were sitting on a boat for the first couple seconds, and i was critiquing your form thinking "something just isn't right about this photo"

benoite and I arrived in Sydney last night. So here we are: we've made the big jump over! Can't wait to get settled in. We'll be visiting flats in he coming days and all is well (apart from some jetlag).

Ok so I have a meeting tomorrow morning with a landlord for a cool flat. I'll talk more about it once I have a signed lease in my pocket ;)

So yesterday I had my first session in Sydney in 5 years. There was Benoite Dyalan and me and we kicked in Hyde park. So far we've had absolutely stellar weather and we even had 31 degrees yesterday! So nice.

So we had a good kick, Dyalan really improved since I last kicked with him (5 contacts of rubberman, alpine tap etc.)

The session was also personnally noteworthy as I hit a trick I'd been trying for over 2 years now and have had off my foot for too lomg:

FURY

I was so stoked! It was off my "flip" furious too (I use the term loosely as in actual fact they're both as crap).

As a bonus I also hit another triple dex that had been nagging me for too long:

flip pixie ss dlo (it's my flip pixie AND my flip dlo).

I also hit a run starting on symp whirling ss osis and that had mullet and whirlwind in there.

Anyway I'm super stoked to be here in Sydney, I'm having a great time and I just can't wait to get a flat and to get settled in! Photos are on their way.

Hey Max!

its terrific to have you here! Sydney is a great place and its not too far from melbourne so I am sure I will see a lot of you :) I havent had many opportunities to play doubles, but i told the guys at the kick today about how you knew how to do it and one seemed quite interested - so it should be cool
just reading some of the tricks in your last post it seems you've been progressing heaps!! good stuff man! big props for a flipside fury! that is very tough

if you can send me a message on 0433 366 323 we can make a good time to kick!

talk soon

Heey Max,
First let me say Congratolations for your recent engagement with that beautiful young lady Benoite :), say hello to her. I am really happy for you guys.
Great pictures from Greece you've got there, but really what happened with your hand on that one, must be a really strange angle.
All the best,
Mitko

hey Dan, thanks for the kind words! Actually I think the top of my game was when I was last in Australia maybe 5 years ago.. anyway, yeah I'm keen to play some doubles with some of the freestylers from Melbourne. I should be back in Melbourne on Thursday if that sounds like a possible kick date for you.

I'll call, it'll be easier

Had an awesome time in Melbourne with the Oz kickers!

Not much time left on my Internet credit here but here's a small clip of a trick I don't hit every day:

Bad ass. I also finally got to see your photos, and the "no hand" and boat ps whirl made me laugh. Glad to hear you are settling in well.

That Nemesis video was sweet. I love love the reactions of everyone. And the background music mix with Skeelo. I'm glad you showed the attempts too/

Max! It's been a long time since we've talked but I just read a few pages back in your blog. That's awesome about you and Benoite - congrats to you and her! I can't believe it's been over two years since I stayed in Paris with you guys. Also congrats on the MBA program; that's big news. And moving to Sydney? Sounds like a complete life change. Anyways, I think I'll be popping in on the site a little more from time to time to read my old friends' blogs so I'll try to make myself heard a little more around here. Congrats on everything and I hope it continues to go well. Whoa nemesis.

Hey thanks for the nice words David!

Ok so I haven't posted here in a while because my game has been declining sharply for some unidentified reason.. I've lost a couple of kilos in the past weeks and have been playing regularly 3 times a week still I had the impression I was playing worse and worse... anyway yesterday I finally had a session that made it all worth it again.

Nothing new but I was hitting stuff I was happy to hit:

run with ducking far swirl, infinity swirl and whirling swirl
run with pdx blender, spinning whirl, ps whirl and tomahawk
run with bed, blurrier, pixie paradon and fog

I think I'll go and play again today :)

"vieux maitre"?? J'ai que 30 ans :D

Had a kick yesterday with Dyalan and Anthony (?). Dyalan was caning it, hitting bedwetter and also ripstein for the first time. props.

I had an alright session with the following of note:

symp torque BS
spinning symple swirl > reverse swirl
tapdown swirl (could be a first for me)

got very close to tapping whirling swirl. I'll keep that for another day.

Props on these 2 in particular. Flip symp torque, and hitting rev swirl out of symple swirl are sooo hard. I haven't got either yet.

It sounds like you are enjoying your transititon to Sydney, which I'm happy to hear. Have you hung out with Guido Tapia yet? He is a champion.

Yeah I hung out with Guido briefly a couple of weeks ago. We had a pre-jam get together in North Sydney with lots of Oz kickers and Guido was around. I even managed to have a short shred with him and he seemed to have quite the skills despite him saying the contrary! Def. a good bloke!

6 months since I lasted posted..

well I'm kicking ass at the MBA so that's cool. So much so that I got accepted to do one semester in the top MBA in the world: London Business School ... which as its name implies is in London. So I'll be leaving the sunny Sydney summer to go to the London winter between Jan and March 2010, it sounds painful but it will ROCK.

Oh I'm owning golf (the real thing not footbag golf) too and that's great.. can't wait to have more time to be on the course more often.

I kinda stopped playing footbag because of the workload here at the MBA but I need to fit into a nice suit for my wedding so I've been using the uni gym squash courts and doing a some solo sessions these last couple of weeks / months. Nothing too fancy but for some reason I was under the impression that I had never linked triple dexes before so in the last week I hit:

smog > pixie paradon
pixie tap > pixie paradon
shooting ss pickup > pixie paradon
pixie tap > smog
pixie tap > dimwalk swirl

and I had a good look at fog > pixie ss double down

other than that I hit a couple of new tricks: blaze, whirling ss butterfly and whirling ss legover..

nothing much more to report apart that we're in winter and I still see people walking around shirtless and barefoot... I love this place :)
