While we may not need a laver ripoff it is totally better than what we have now. A product that we can put our money into and know that it will go back into the sport is something Adidas isn't doing. The quantums might not be the best but I feel way better supporting PF than Adidas. So hopefully richie makes a great shoe but even if it is a laver it is still progress.

I'm just wondering what shoe company is producing Richie's shoe idea.

The shoe company is half mine. I designed the shoe and the funding is from several sources. It will not be a laver. Basic construction is the same as all shoes for this sport. The difference is this is a footbag shoe that you can play tennis in and other sports where as the Laver is a tennis shoe that you can use for footbag. I can't wait to show you the finished prototype. Hope this helps, Richard

Wow, I drop out of the community for a while, and look what I come back to! This is sweet! I am seriously, seriously excited for whatever comes of this!

Also, I don't mean to derail, but has anyone stopped and considered that it might be more important to get better quality people in footbag as opposed to a larger quantity in general? Look at the old school Unix hacker community: that's definitely a group of people who are more interested in doing what they love than making it appear 'cool' to people, and I would say the quality of that community is very high. Personally, I'll be very depressed if this community is inundated with, how you say, "dick holes." Especially if it went the way of the fixed gear bicycle... :)

That said, I don't really think there's any danger of either of those things happening. I think the same obsessive compulsive wackos that we all love so much and identify with will continue to see other obsessive compulsive wackos doing crazy shit with a hacky sack in a park and then become obsessive compulsive regarding hacky sack themselves. Can you imagine what it would be like if there were a bunch of people on our forums that, god forbid, weren't obsessive compulsive wackos and, god forbid, were more concerned with what they were wearing when they played than what tracks they were hitting or, god forbid, why?

The second prototype is on the way. I will post pics when it comes in. Shipping is slow due to the holidays. If you are going the Vegas jam, I will have them there to check out. Happy Holidays, Richard Abshire
