World's 2009 money challenges
World's 2009 money challenges
Hi everyone,
I'd like to see some money challenges for the world footbag championships 2009 in Berlin.
So,
challenge #1: I will personally pay 100 Euros and give a special t-shirt to anyone who can hit (cleanly of course) a 12 dex sick 3 in competition. It can be any round and any combination (i.e. 3 four dex tricks, or 3,4,5 or 0,0,12, etc...) as long as all dexes are clean (as judged by me), I get it on film (warn me if you're going to try it) and you don't hit the same trick twice on the same side.
[EDIT (121908): A 2 dex trick done with 2 bags is still only 2 dex trick (yes someone actually asked)]
challenge #2: Anyone who can score 300 or better at schred 30: 11 euros (sponsors: Max:10,Andrew:1)
I may post some more challenges here if I think of anything interresting. I'll also update this if anyone else wants to add their own challenges.
It's also worth asking, has anyone actually hit a 12 dex 3 move combo yet?
[edit: David has witnesses, anyone else?]

Yes, as long as my other qualifications are met (i.e. I assume there's no requirement to wear shoes for sick 3). I personally don't think that'll make it any easier though (but I suck at toe moves, so what do I know).C-Fan wrote:Would you accept the combo if it were barefoot?
It's about damn time that happened. I'll start it out with one euro and hopefully someone else will sponsor it for more. I'd offer more myself, but of course the second I do that 20 guys will show up and hit 300max wrote:I might consider pitching in some $$ in a fund for who breaks 300 at World's shred 30...
David: Are you coming to world's?
Right now this is my personal idea, but I'll talk this over with FC Footstar at the next world's meetings, so I might even be able to offer an official world's money challenge t-shirt.

300 in shred 30 is basically 5 add ratio. I can't remember who I was with, but we worked one out a few years ago. If you could a few "easy" 7s and bailed to stuff like pdx whirl, and all the basic 6s - whirlwind, spender, food etc. then it's conceivable. For every 7 add you can hit a three, and for every 6 you can hit a 4, but I thought it would better to hit a 2 four adds for every 7 instead. So say you hit 3 7s and 5 6s, that would mean you could hit 11 4s and only have to hit 11 5s. The three 7s probably being montage, alpine whirlgig and whatever you found easier out of gangsta or alpine food.
Although personally I'm happy with over 150
Barefoot is definitely allowed in sick 3. You can wear whatever shoes you think are appropriate in a competition, including none. Obviously the judges should take that into account when judging though. Barefoot fast dexing is a lot easier than with shoes, although the trade off is that clipper moves are a bit harder (not just to learn, but because you have a smaller stalling area). However 3 toe quads is definitely possible anyway. I've hit 2 unique with shoes 2 different ways (sailing ss dlo>sailing ss barrage and sailing ss dlo>sailing ss toe blur). In a sick 3, it might be pretty difficult though. I look forward to seeing half the field not hit a single combo going for quad dexes

I beleive that Olaf said he broke 300 (not in comp though) already so yes it's conceivable.
Ok I'll throw in 10€ for the 300 fund. Who's with me?
Andrew do you want to handle this, If so I can make a paypal transfer of that amount to you at your convenience. For the record: I won't be attending Worlds 2009.

Vasek too, although also not in competition as far as I know and I can think of a couple more guys who are capable of it (David? Honza?).max wrote:I beleive that Olaf said he broke 300
Sweet. Probably the easiest way to handle this is I'll keep track here of who's offering what. If someone can claim a chalenge I'll probably pay them myself and trust the rest of you to pay me back. Other sollutions are welcome.max wrote:Ok I'll throw in 10€ for the 300 fund. Who's with me?
That makes me sad.max wrote:For the record: I won't be attending Worlds 2009.
The only thing I can tell you with certainty is that the schedule of events is not finished. However it is unlikely that shred 30 will be dropped, it doesn't take much time and a lot of people still compete in it.C-fan wrote:Is Shred30 going to be an event at Worlds09? I like the idea of motivating with money to push the limits, but nobody is going to do 12 dexes in sick3 on this decade. You should pay for 11 dexes instead and someone might try it, because there's much more really competition-doable possibilities.
300 poits in shred30 with 32 contacts is not THAT hard and I think several players have done it, and at least a couple in competition too. You need an add ratio of 4,6 so it's not just fearless.
I think that at the last Polish champs the one who placed second in Shred30 scored over 300?

Which is why I'm trying to encourage them. There are a few guys out there who are capable of it now, so it's posible we'll see it, if they're given some motivation. It's not even necissarily a milestone like scoring 300 at shred 30, it's just something I personally want to see. I might offer something for 11 dexes too.Anz wrote:I like the idea of motivating with money to push the limits, but nobody is going to do 12 dexes in sick3 on this decade.

To the best of my knowledge no one has hit 300 in competition. the last I heard the world record was 274 by Vasek Klouda. Second was Jorden with 266 or 265 and a few others have hit in the 250-260 range. There was a thread about it about a year ago. I`m sure many of the top 10 players could hit it out of competition if they got to try all session, the problem is hitting it first try in competition. Anyway, If someone hit 300 in competition it would be all over the forum, and I`m sure we would have all heard about it.
Also, earlier in this thread, Dave said he has already hit a 12 dex sick three. No idea if it was in cometition.

Sorry about that, it must have been another Polish competition then, becauseMrMeebles wrote:Took me all of 10 seconds to look up. A little effort please

The combo Dave did was not unique tricks.Slowsis wrote:Dave said he has already hit a 12 dex sick three
So nobody has ever hit three unique 4dexes in a row and now they have six months to get so good at it they can nail it in mere three tries.
