Pretty much everything in that video was sick!

Amateurs practice until they can get it right.
Professionals practice until they can't get it wrong.
No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

I loved the comparison. Soccer freestyle looks harder to me. Having to dex something that large and then kick rather than stall, and then link .... Craziness.
However, I would love to see some footbag done soccer style. I wonder if you could get in more dexes that way. Like more quads or pents or something.
The soccer guys seemed to have a tremendous amount of extra time on their hands > err... feet, when they did mixed dexes.

Go out and shred already.

Crazy video. Not comparing which looks more difficult, but which one looks better, footbag wins out in my head. It looks way smoother, and having clippers opens it up. I didn't watch the whole vid, but from what I saw of it, all of the soccer freestyle looks just like you're flailing your legs around wildly and there's a soccerball bouncing in the middle somehow. Footbag has a lot more flow and (somehow) looks more natural. Footbag ftw.

Yea with freestyle football a players feet are almost always in contact with the ball, so a trick like chainsaw would actually break down into something either with an up time component and with a flyer somewhere in the middle.
Football does have its own edge over footbag though, namely its appeal to the public. Also at time its just looks much more impressive and varied. Players can do normal toes tricks, head stall/rolls, play on the floor, and a lot of players really can make it look like some sort of break dance.
Of course I still love footbag way more, it just needs its time to grow as a sport, its just a toddler.

I think both are valid pursuits, I just love the amount of control you can have over a footbag. Since we actually catch it and put it where we want it we can be so precise and that opens up so many technical possibilities.
And yeah you can argue that they have a big range of trick types, but I think we just use one main style of interacting with the bag (toes, clippers, dexes, ducks and spins) but then within those parameters we have accomplished a VERY dense trick selection.
Frankly, we've hit damn near everything! (well, Jorden keeps proving ideas like that wrong, but you know what I mean)
But in the end, I think it's cool that people are pursuing football freestyle passionately, give them time, they're at tiltless right now, let's see what their guiltless and tripless looks like in a few more years!
I mean, I have to say this, I do tricks on bikes made for a velodrome!
