So im not sure this will be a popular topic, but im after some quick help and thought maybe this kind of topic would become useful somehow in the future.
I want to make a 3D model of a footbag in 3DSMAX. Ive followed a tutorial on making a soccerball all the way through, however the hex shapes it uses are not like footbag hexes. I think all the sides are the same length. So i want to be able to change 3 of the sides to be shorter than the other 3, but all be the same length as each other, so each hex is the same size.
Basically, is there any way that anyone knows of, to adjust the length of the side of a Poly extremely accurately? Like, type in the exact length value rather than have to use the Scale tool which relies on having a good eye?
I hope this made sense, and that someone knows something about this program. Cheers.

wow, haven't even thought about 3ds max for years! I tried to learn but gave up. I could do chess peices and stuff like that but never got really good. I stuck with adobe PS. I think you need an instructor or detailed lessons to fully understand it. Good luck with the hack, post it when your done.

What I would do in this situation is make a 3D model of a footbag in AutoCAD and then export the 3D model as .3ds file (i think thats the extension) and then import it into 3DSMAX or VIZ, whichever one you're using. By using CAD first, you can be as accurate as you want in whatever measuring unit you want. You can also make each panel its own layer or certain types of panels be a certain layer. Then when you import the 3D model into 3DS, you can set whatever materials to the different parts of the bag.
