I'm back from NYJ. It was as awesome as I expected it to be. Maybe I'll do a write-up later.

Write up (NYJ):

December 25th, 2008:

I was at my Mom's opening presents being all tired, but not being able to sleep. My girlfriend was also being weird so I think I was in a bad mood. That sucked, but I was still looking forward to NYJ. It's still the best event that I've been to.

So anyways, I got some money for christmas, which I needed in order to really go to NYJ. Like $180 or something. That paid for hotel, food, some shoes, and a bag. Fun. I went to bed at like 2 and I had to wake up at 5 to catch my train. Which left at 7 something. That sucked, but I didn't forget anything. I had like 4 texts when I woke up which was crazy. Who texts someone between 2-5 am? Matt Kemmer I guess, and some other people.

December 26th, 2008:

Train station. Not very busy outside, very busy inside. There was quite the line that took like 20 minutes to get through, then I went into the waiting room and began reading Tales of Beedle the Bard. It really wasn't good. Don't buy it. After that, my train started boarding and this guy in front of me started talking to me about his dying mother in Chicago and I was like, "Wow, that really sucks." Because it does, right? Too bad.

So we boarded the train where I was really confused. I took like 3 peoples' seats who apparently had seats given to them, but I didn't. So I moved up like 3 cars from where my luggage was and sat there. Got two seats though, so I took a massive nap while the train scooted right along. Well, I texted some people too, but mostly a massive nap. The train ride was pretty boring until I got to Chicago. Right when I got off the train and into the station (oh, by the way, it took like 10 minutes for me to find my luggage again because it was 3 cars back) like 2 homeless guys asked if they could use my phone (which was dead) or could have some change (which they got because I was in a good mood). So I went over to the pay phones where there was an outlet and charged it. Where someone else used my phone, and where I called Tom. And Eric Chang and Henry came to get me. :D

I was standing on the corner, and then Henry came bounding along. How exciting. We walked back to Eric's massive BMW suv type thing and drove to Dunkin' Donuts, which was welcomed as I didn't eat anything on the 7.5 hour train ride. Afterwards we drove to the hotel and hung out in Eric's room, watching his DVD. It's pretty good, definitely worth the price. Everyone get it.

Also, I would like to throw a shout out to Eric right here for driving everyone to the airport and being awesome. He woke up at like 3 to take people to the airport, which is just ridiculous. Also he filmed more than he played, which is sad. :(

After Eric's DVD we all (Eric, Henry, Me) went to play for the first session in the 18th floor hallway (which is now legendary). I probably played my second best there, the best being whenever David and some others watched that one time. I forget the day. Henry's style still looks good after his inury, and Eric has gotten better since US Open for sure.

People started showing up while we were playing (first Goldberg and David) but we just kept on trucking, which was fun. We just kind of did that until Ben and Evan showed up, when I put my stuff in the room and watched everyone play.

I'll resume December 26th whenever I feel like it. Probably tonight. Actually more likely tomorrow.

I just played, wasn't all that sore. Played average/well. 1.5 hours or so?

- PDX Drifter>Far Swirl rpt
- Worked Fairy

December 26th, 2008 (cont.):

I bought Dave's shoes right before he left and I played pretty well in them. My first pair of units. They're what I used for the session above. ^^ I doubt I'll use them except for concrete shred, because I still feel like I'm cheating when I use them. :\

Anyways, after shred we all went to our hotel room, where I rested and chatted with a few people. I forget who? Then Matt showed up, so we hugged and then we all took showers and walked to the grocery store. A walk to the grocery store may sound like some luxurious act, but trust me, it was not. It took about an hour(?) with a stop at White Castle, which is like Arby's. You crave it a lot, but once you eat it you're really disappointed. So yeah.

We went to the grocery store in these crazy conditions. All of the snow had melted so there were puddles and icy spots everywhere. I think everyone had wet socks afterwards. Also, everyone probably came close to rolling their ankles. It was fun though. Matt and I caught up on stuff a little bit.

At the grocery store we just got some essentials (bananas, bread, peanut butter, granola bars, apples) and a candy bar for Ken.

Eric came and got us from the grocery store, so another shout out to him for that. What a great dude. There was like 7 of us in the SUV, with Henry riding in the Trunk. It was a fun ride with quite a few 'that's what she said's. And other jokes.

We got back to the hotel and sat there and ate some food, then I think we went down to the shred room. I'll continue again later. I get bored writing this stuff sometimes.

Screw write ups. I don't feel like writing one.

NYJ was really fun though. It was great to hang out with Matt again. Also everybody in room 1828 was awesome. Especially Little Bo Peep. ;)

Things are going pretty well. Getting some shoe goo for my white quantums and then I should be able to play in them properly. I also have Dave's old units, so I'm going every other session with them right now (and my white quantums). My old quantums are pretty much retired. They're unlaced so it'll be hard for me to relapse to them. :P

Flip ripstein is getting better, which is exciting. That is such a great trick to do both sides.

My girlfriend (as a vampire) and Obama. And David (which didn't scan well for some reason, I think it's better in person). From a photo by Scott D.

I love the range of values on Obama's face. Great use of light and dark, it really catches the eye.

I'm curious, who are your artistic influences?

Well, for pastel renderings/paintings I look more off of my art teacher. I look at a lot of art, but I don't really think much of it consciously influences what I do. My favorite artist currently is Marko Djurdjevic, though.

Thanks Zeke.

Oooooooh, I just googled Marko. I like his style! I've seen some of his workbefore. He's got such raw energy to his colors and dynamic motion to his figures.

Right. The man is incredible, such great colors. I really like his pencils as well. Check out this thread on conceptart.org:

Would you rather...

have one free footbag from any stitcher of your choice

or

have unprotected sex with a homeless (I mean like, crazy and been on the street for years and always smells of urine) woman for a million dollars? Just to make it more interesting, lets say you get another million for every subsequent act of sweet, sweet lovin'.

does the sex end when i finish or when she does?

Life is so ironic.

I haven't played footbag in a while. I will probably play this weekend, but it's kind of cold. I want it to be spring.

I've seen my girlfriend 9 out of the past 10 days, and I've played footbag twice in the past 10 days.

Not sure how I feel about that.
