barefoot in 2008/2009

Post by lineman »

I just spent 10 days on the beach... 10 days without shoes on... so I just played barefoot footbag.

And I found out it is a GREAT training method... My stalls are better, my clippers and pickups improved... I did hit 10 consecutives ATW... and had a load of fun.

here are some pictures...

I've been theorizing for a while that eventually we are going to have a class of shredders that exclusively play barefoot and consider it more pure.

It would be hard to argue with them.

There's a famous guy in Australia who has one arm, is aboriginal and plays (or used to play) barefoot and has apparently been hitting triple atw really easily since the 90s. Also his name is "Spear." Urban legend anyway, since he's never been to a footbag tournament, but he's good friends with Lotus.

I had a lot of fun playing without shoes... but I found the inside stalls almost impossible to do.

Then... after all... I am a rookie.. so.... miaaah.

I'll second that. Cody is a bad motor-scooter. His form is excellent. It is funny to see somebody who prefers to play without shoes...

I kicked with him in at the Texas Statewides 2008 in Austin less than three months ago. He was bustin'.

There's also this kid called Kevin Regamey who hits TATW > Alpine Pandemonium. But he's nothing special.

Hey... does any of you, or anyone you know, play with unmodified lavers?

Like... without taking out the side layers or opening the toe box?

My friend Cody did for a while, but he modded them recently and he likes them a lot more.

I used to play in unmodded lavers. It only worked out alright. I opened the toe box when I had to do a show and back then I couldn't notice too much of a difference but I love the opened toe box. Never took out inside layers though. I think it works fine most of the time. I guess I won't know for sure until I do it.
