ROGUE VALLEY JAM 2009

Post by calemccoy »

well, ive been muttering to myself about this for a long time, and ive decided im doing it. im gonna have a small jam in medford on march 20-21. well kick at a few good spots around the area, and just sort of hang out between kicks. these are the people id love to see show up:

-portland crew
-eugene crew
-stanford/santa cruz crew
-oceanside crew
-vegas dudes
-as many other people as possible.

it would be amazing if all those people came, and it would be the coolest thing to have people come to us to play. so far, i have 3 possibilities for kick sites.

-athletic center that my mom is employed at, knows owner. there are 5 indoor racquetball courts, and a big basketball court, waterfountains and bathrooms.

-bear creek park, a public park by my house with 2 tennis courts, bathrooms and nearby restaurants.

-my high school, with an indoor b-ball court AND outdoor tennis courts.

if the group is small enough, me and yogan can harbor people at our houses. so if you are interested in coming, please post so i can know if i need to find a good hotel for you guys to stay at, or if youll just lodge for free =] ill make some bags to give as prizes if we want to do a chill circle comp, and ill try to make some tees too.

bump.... with updates.

i talked to the owner of the aforementioned athletic club, and he is all for it. he saw a pixie set and said "woah, do that little flick thing again!" 8) so i now definitely have a venue, as well as two local business sponsors so far, and there will be tv coverage as well.

again, if you are any of the people i mentioned above, or anyone interested in coming, please post a response about what you think. thank you.

I am in and will bring as much of the Eugene crew as possible. This is so close, 2 1/2 hours, that I can't say no. One thing to keep in mind though is that this will be extremely close to my bodybuilding competition and I will not be able to consume any food other than my own or drink any alcohol. I can provide other means of entertainment though for all you "northwest" peeps.

The dates that I can attend will be March 20-22, the 27-29th will be my bodybuilding weekend.

Those that may come along:
Shawni "Fairytale" Tolliver
Alex
Kurt
James
Eddy
and if we can get him: Nasty Nate Linscott

Another question I have for you is what competitions will be available, if there will be an advanced registration, players party, or prizes? Is there going to be a place for everyone to crash or a hotel with great prices? Keep us informed!

I'll stitch some bags for prizes. I do need to know the days though so I can get Red to drive me down with others.

hey, wow, i love all the responses!!! ill have definite dates up this weekend for all of you.

as far as hotels, there are many super cheap ones here in medford, so that wont be hard to find.

apparently, nick wil make some prizes (thanks!) and i would make a bag or two as well, and im sure yogan will too. (both quality bags)

registration/competitons: though this is more of a jam type get together, i would love to schedule comps, if adequate judges are around, like circles, sick1, and maybe a rippin run comp. red, would you judge? im hoping to make some tees for the event, that could be part of a players competing/attendance fee, like 10 bucks or something.

so now that im getting good feedback from people, ill really buckle down and get some solid details for you guys.

i apologize for not having solid dates yet, but this jam will take place late april/early may -ish. its all depending on when my school and i go on a missions trip, and when we are leaving/getting back. i will post as soon as i know, and meanwhile will be hunkering down on a motel/ definite event site. did i just say hunkering?

So is this still happening? I want to make sure that I can make it. I also wanted to say that I'll have a bunch of footbags for sale because no one is buying them right now :(

dates are still sketchy, but seeing that you guys only live a few hours away, i think it could be possible if i keep it on a weekend (which i will). ill post dates the second i get them, but i promise they wont be last minute either.

Depending on the day, I might be able to drop in for a session on my way to or from California over spring break. Just don't post dates at the last minute and make this another SJFF debauchle

alright, so as of now i knw what my spring break dates are. hwever this said, i think im gonna make this super small, like a two day shred session. its looking like the best dates would be march 20-21, a friday and saturday. please post if you are still interested, but like i said, it will be more of just a casual kick. ill find a good hotel for people if its needed, but if its a small enough number of people, there are places you can stay at like me and yogan's house. also, ill make a bag if we want to have a chill circle comp.

march 20-21. whos coming?

In light of recent events (Cale breaking his toe in half) Is this still happening? UNless everyone who came just came because they wanted to shred with me there's no real reason to make the trek down here. We could save it for sometime during the summer or something or other. I think Cale should put his input here.
