If you have the problem as such, I can't type the format of the problem, three on the square root of negative thirty six. I know how to find the square root of negative thirty six, but what do I do with the three outside of the square root?

It's a few years since I've studied this kind of thing but I find your question a little confusing. I don't know exactly what you mean by the "3 on the square root" - Do you think you could rephrase the question in mathematical language? I'm pretty sure you just treat the three like you normally would if it were not a complex number and so assume you multiply it out (on the assumption that when you say "on" you mean 3sqrt-36), presumably giving you 18i.
As I say though, I'm not sure I understand the question and it's a while since I've done this so I could be completely wrong

Alternatively I guess you might mean 3/sqrt -36; in which case you still treat it just like any other equation - so equals 3/6i which equals. 1/2i

Alternatively, and this may be the correct solution if my answers seem like complete gibberish.
The question could actually be what is the cubed root of -36. This is much easier to calculate, although I would probably use a calculator to do it. The answer would -3 point something. Although actually not a question of complex numbers at all.

I figured I'd get a response asking that. My math teacher uses it as "On the square root of" when an integer is beside a number in a square root.
It's really just a three beside the square root of 36. I'm 99 % sure you would multiply it, since if you were dividing it, there would be some sort of division symbol or something.
