Props Paweł! Your fearless links are very nice, your both toes are pretty good, I think. Nice to see you've started playing doubles, I hope you'll start at Zocha Jam :)

My right knee hurts more than it used to. I mean it has been popping for like 10 years now, but recently it became very bad, like never. It still cracks like old and rusty door. But it wasn't painful, so I've accepted it.

Finally, this week during a light running I felt a strange pull in my knee and then a pain. It still appears when I'm walking or even standing.

One hour ago I visited the orthopaedist who I know well and he also understands what I do (I mean footbag) and how much does it mean for me. He examined me and we talked for a while. It's not as bad as it could be, but I must take a brake for 3 weeks. After that I will come again and we'll decide what to do. If it will not get better, probably I will have an operation. He said that the cartilage in the knee is damaged, but it can be also another problems.

These three weeks I can only walk and that's it. No physical activities like running or whatever and what's clear - no footbag. I'm afraid I won't be able to play footbag for a few months.

Damn, I hope it's not serious. I wonder what's the cause, it's not like you were going for some stupid tricks without schooling the basics.

Three weeks break have extended to over five months so far, and it doesn't really seem to change soon. The main problem is that I'm bow-legged. My legs don't look normally like that: _||_ They are crooked in that way: _()_. This is the source of unequal pressure in my knees, so every step is unnatural and harmful for them. It sucks.

I have changed the doctors two times and finally, the third said that there is a chance for me. I had a month-long rehabilitation and it helped just a little bit. Then appeared a new problem with the cartilage which is pretty serious and painfull. I will have the injections into joint and today is my first one. The results will be seen in 2 or 3 months... and it sucks.

Anyway I'm still in the footbagworld, I went to Todexon9 which I enjoyed a lot, although I couldn't shred. I've planned my routine for worlds already, but I'm afraid I won't be able to play there as well. Anyway I still hope I will recover till then and I will join some circles in Prague and Berlin. Even if not, it will be very enjoyable to be there and hang out with all those great people. :)

Footbag summer holidays were excellent. I'm so pleased I did it to Prague and Berlin as well. Good memories, great people, splendid shit ;)

I'm slowly comming back to freestyle. Really slowly and gradually to prevent unwanted renewing of the injury. My goal now is to start from the beginning with better and wiser attitude. I'll focus on clean style and good form mainly. I want my game to look as fluent, smooth and clean as possible. Actually my attitude before the injury was similar. But now I have the strong plan and after almost year long break I'm returning to some more serious physical exercises. Wish me good health :)

I'm still injured and I didn't even kicked the bag since the last post. Yes, it got worse again. This lead me to try acupuncture (why not?). I'm in a half way of therapy and find it pretty good. The doctor (who is actually Ners' uncle) in addition to acupuncture recommended me to put special insoles in my shoes and to go on a diet. Recording to him the source of my knee problems sits in my backbone and stomach. If this treatment turns out ineffective then I'll probably have a surgery, but I'm not convinced yet.

I'm gonna write here more frequently, not only about my bloody knee I hope ;)

are you a vegetarian now?

Acupunture healed my knees ;) so it can do the same for you, believe in it.

Thanks for replies!

Yeah I know that faith may be quite important part of such treatment. :)
No, I'm not vegetarian. I should eat mainly boiled food and avoid fried or baked meals. Everything in my diet should be light, so I don't eat bread (it was hard at first, but it's fine now). I'm after a month of this diet and I must say that I feel lighter and better, indeed. Another month left to the end of therapy.

Funny (sad) like 3-weeks break extended to more than a year now. I'm an active type of person, so I was searching for other sports which I'd pick up. First idea was frisbee ultimate, but there's to much jerky running (the wrost thing for damaged cartilage) and I don't fancy team sports, so definately - bad idea.
Then in Berlin tried to walk on slack line which was wonderful and splendid experience. I even bought one set for myself! I enjoyed that a few times in Wroclaw, but even this was to tough for the knee. I must've stopped slacking till I recover.
Another cool thing I've discovered recently is a fixed gear bike. I'm fascinated with a philosophy of the purest form of cycling. I've watched a lot of videos (macaframa's are the best; you should type 'macaframa' on vimeo.com) and read even more about fixies and I'm in love with them. They're beautifull in their simplicity and give much more fun than 'not fixed'. I went crazy and ordered used Lemond Fillmore 08 with a flip-flop hub. I'm really excited even though I won't cycle seriously till I recover, but I couldn't refuse buying it now. I believe ridind fixed gear is a great way to build up legs muscles, so it'll prepare me to get back to shredding one day. I'll post pics when it comes.

Did I mention that I'm excited as hell?!

I'm completely satisfied with this pretty thing. I did a few rides already and it feels great! Everyone who likes bicycles should try riding fixed. Really!

Now I need to put my feet up and chat a bit with my knee... ;)

Oh and I'll try to make a sweet video for Worlds 09 Contest ...soon.

It's a pity that you couldn't play for such a long time... and even don't know if you'll be able to play again.
But remember we're with YOU... and remember that Kuba, after something about 2 years managed to get back to footbag and catch some extra medals ;)
On the other hand it's great you've found something to do instead of footbag. Like everyone, I keep my fingers crossed.

We were thinking about making a video for Worlds contest, but with you we don't have any chances! OK, there's still second and third place left ;)

Let's quickly sum up my knee stuff.
-Over a year out of serious sports activities.
-Series of joint injections - really nice feeling afterwards but evil is still inside.
-Acupuncure - harmful and inefficient in my case. No miracle happened.
-Loads of magic tablets also failed in fighting with the evil inside.
-Prayers occur useless as well.

All right Mr. Knee. Arthroscopy in a week time.

I'm taking air into my lungs and sending it back again, I'm putting some words together in my mind and typing them using a computer machine. I have also the feeling of regret that I'm not in Prague at the hacky event right now. ...anyway, all of these mean that I've survived the surgery and I'm happily alive. :) What a relief.

I don't want to dwell on my focken' knee case, but well, I just had it operated. So briefly, the hype is called arthroscopy. Arthroscopy equals two tiny holes, through which they put into your knee a camcorder and some tools. I also choosed to be conscious and see everything what's inside on a screen. I liked that biology lesson pretty much, even though I wasn't sure if I could handle seeing the interior of my body.

Here's an example of what I went through. ;)
Image
It's some kind of scar on some kind of surface inside my knee. It's being eaten by aliens, that's for sure.

As you can see above, the party was splendid. Back to the sport of footbag eventually? Of course not! I have to be on crutches for immensely long time of 3 months. That's because they tapped a bone under the cartilage to make it bleed and somehow speed up the recovery of cartilage. Three months is a damn long time. But it's okay. What I'm really worried about, is that I should have my legs surgically straightened. Otherwise, there'll be no such thing for me as painless walking at the age of 30. My doctor is trying to convince me for this operation, but it's much more serious than arthroscopy. It disables you for 6 months (3 for each leg). I have 2 years to decide, so we'll see.

Good health is what we all need and desire. As long as we're healthy we usually underrate it. I'm not complaining, because it could've been much worse with me. But I think it's good to learn to appreciate that you're physically able to manage furious set ...you healthy assholes!

Take care! :)

Haha.
Well I can kind of sympathize, since I've had to take a lot of time off due to my knees (half years at a time, many a time). Hold in there though. Things will get better and you're still young. Don't be in a rush. Focus on another passion in the meantime :)
♥

Also, I back your sentiments about anyone who can do furious without pain. THOSE BASTARDS! :D

It's great to hear that your procedure went well Rozo! :) It must have been so much fun having your knee cut up in front of your eyes  I hold my thumbs for your quick recovery, and you should try some of this during the next three months:
