On thursday my Quantum's came in! Yay! I'm happy! I like them. They're extremely light. Have to get use to the lightness.

Had a session on friday. It was with the Unity Crew. Mike, Blake, Conrad, Bruce and Myself.

Mike and I got there early and did some one pass net. Had alot of fun. Next weekend is the Phoenix Open. Big Add Chad is going to make it out again, so we can shred and play net again.

Mike's shred was looking good. He's still primarily tiltless. But that's ok seeing as he's just coming off an injury. A couple of things I remember, Toe Blur bs, Torque bs and I believe Drifter bs.

Blake hasn't played in awhile. He was a little rusty, but not much. He had a couple of good looks at Torque bs. He hit Blurry Osis bs as well. He just needs to start kicking more, if he keeps it up he should be able to be guiltless by the end of the year if not sooner,

Conrad took a 6 month hiatus and it didn't look like it bothered him much. 4 pixie sets in and he hit's Phoenix......damn you! He had quite a few runs that reminded me of the old Conrad from a couple of years ago. Lot's of Pixie's, Stepping and other various stuff throughout.

Bruce is learning freestyle. He can toe stall and inside stall, but not very well. He was getting 4 or 5 contacts of Toe Stall > Toe Stall. He can also do some flyers. Him and Mike spent most of the time talking about Kung Fu.

Myself. It was a fun day. Warming up with net was alot of fun. Reminded me of how different it is compared to freestyle. Can't wait for next weekend! My shred was ok. I originally had planned to do half of the session in my goonits, and the other half in my quantum's. But I decided to just play in my quantum's. It was fun getting use to them.

Highlight's, of what I can remember;
Paradon > Barrage > Paradon > Barlfy > Barrage > Paradon > Barfly drop, first real run of the night
Whirligig, felt extremely comfortable trying that compared to my g's
Eggbeaters were really easy
Ripstein, Strong, footed flip
Symp Whirl bsos
Pdx Whirl x4
Blurry Whirl x2
Duck Clip > Dive Clip rpt > Duck Clip > Duck Clip
Alpine Fear > run
Fairy's were extremely easy, I was getting chin high sets 90% of the time
Pixie's were weird. Need to get use to the toe for I can get my pixie's where they were in my g's
Plo > Plo > Fear > Fairy Lo > Fairy..drop, flip Fairy still needs work
Footed Toe Blur b2b starting on bs
Trip bs
Fairy Beater > Step Clip > Step Mirage > Slapdown > run
Torque bsos. For some reason, these were really hard to hit
Swifter, Mike asked if I've hit it before, 2nd try
Footed Flip Swifter twice!
Footed Mullet

At the end, Conrad and I were taking requests for sick 3's. That was fun. Next week is the Phx Open. Hopefully Conrad and Blake make it out.

I'm extremely sore right now, and the funny thing is that I want to kick. I won't, unless a nice hot bath helps relieve the soreness I have. But even then, I doubt I will. No need to get myself injured right now.

Just wanted to let you know that I got my tickets for my Phoenix trip finalized. I arrive on Sunday, February 22nd at 8 pm, and I leave on Monday, March 2nd at 9:49 am.

zeroman13 wrote: I can't wait till you make it out here in Feb. Hopefully we'll be able to get more than one session in while you're here.
I think I work until 5 on weekdays, but should be relatively free after that. Sunday I'm going to a Suns game, and I want to spend time with family for most of the weekend, so I'm thinking I can only get in one weekend session. That said, I can probably get in one or two weeknight sessions on top of that. So hopefully we can work something out.

In the ego trip thread you posted:
zeroman13 wrote:This is what I have to look forward to in Feb? Pssh! Please, I know you're better than this!
That made me laugh, because I'm going to be soooo much worse in February. The footage in that video is mostly from October and November, and shows me at the peak of my game. I've only played a handful of times in the last 2 months, and its anybody's guess if I'll be anywhere close to game shape by the time I make it out. Set your expectations very low. :)

Thanks for the good news Ken. By the looks of it I won't be all that good either. These Quantum's are taking quite a bit of getting use too. But who cares, we shall shred and have a good time!

Had a session. It was ok. Nothing spectacular. Just trying to get use to the Quantum's.

Highlight's;
Warm-up: Mirage > Ss Mirage rpt > Illusion > Ss Illusion rpt. Clip b2b. Clip > Ss Clip > Op Clip > Ss Clip rpt forever.
Far Motion > Pdx Blender > Ps Whirl > run
Matador bsos
Fairy Same Mirage bsos, with Ripwalk, Pixie Same Mirage and Peeking Osis
Flurry (Easiest one yet!) > Run with an attempt at Jani
Fear > Op Butter > Blurry Pickup > Alpine Fairy Beater > Run
Slapping Mirage > Symp Swirl > Run with Pdx Whirl bsos, Blurry Whirl bsos, Gyro Clip and Barfly
Footed and missed the hand catch for Mullet! Fuck, shit, whore, bitch!! I HAD IT!!!...........Wait a sec...........*kick, kick, kick*...............*clipper*..........*Flux > run*...........*wait for it*............*clipper*..........*Duck*............*Ps Whirl*..........*clipper*.........*hand catch*........^*CELEBRATION*^
MULLET!!!!!!

While trying for Fairy Whirl, my support ankle got tweaked. It's nothing bad. It's not swollen or in any pain. So it's all good.

Now my knee is a little, very minuscule, tender. But it felt good hitting that damn trick!

Also tried my hand at some furious. Footed both Jani's. Which surprised me, especially what is now my flip. I wasn't even getting a decent set with it and I foot it tonight. Also, if I didn't place my setting foot so far away, I might've had a chance at Sunil on that side! My strong side is more consistent. I just need to get use to the shoes and I should be able to start developing it more. It's strange, my strong side I've hit Jani and have had a high enough set to hit Fury. On my weak side I've hit Jani and I have the set placement to hit Sunil. Interesting.

Time to go. I might ice my ankle, or I'll wait and do that after a nice hot bath. Needless to say, no more kicking till the Phx Open. Big Add Chad is making it out again, and hopefully his knee isn't bothering him for we can shred and rip up the net court too.

Laters fellow footbaggers!

I wasn't quite done. I just needed a little rest.

Weak Jani
Sunil > Run with footing weak Jani!

Now if I can only get my "strong" Furious motion like my weak. My weak side seems to be much more energy efficient. Plus it's easier to get the set for it out of butterfly. Until this weekend, chow!

Got home last night around 8:30ish or so from a weekend a freestyle and net. It was alot of fun. I really like shredding with Big Add Chad! We both feed off of one another, and it always seems to be a good session even if we're both really beat. 2 night's in a row, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours each, 12 - 12:30ish to 1:30 - 2:30ish each night. Chad can always throw down big stuff and long runs. It's amazing. I was hitting some good stuff too.

Highlight's:
Gyro DLO, first time since I hit it in Clima's
Ps Whirl > Spin Whirl > Spender off my foot
Lot's of Pdx Whirls, Barflies and Paradons
Rubberman and a half, first time in Quantum's
Whirr and Ripstien in the same run, felt real good
Scorpian's Tail a couple of times
Muted Fairy Clip or Fairy Beater > Blurry Pickup > Alpine Fairy Beater
Had a good look at Whirlwind
Vortex and Mobius in the same run
Had a Pogo Set that I could've ducked. I was originally trying for Pdx Torque > Symp Torque, but I did Pogo Osis instead. Had Symp Torque later on the run to end it

Net was alot of fun, just like last year. This year though I had a good pair of shoes compared to the beat up pair a Circa's I used last year. On Sunday and Monday was when I was able to play the most net. Monday My serves were finally clicking and I was hitting them about 90% or so. Way better then Sunday, Friday and last year! I also was getting bolder and trying for some spikes and blocks. I was told that I got some major hops and air on some of them!

On Monday I had the privilege to shred, yes SHRED, with Tuan Vu! That was alot of fun! Even though my legs were a little sore, I was able to do some stuff. It was fun being able to see Him hit Atom b2b, Ps Whirl, Food, Gyro DLO during his runs. Towards the end we were trying to see who could hit Food, He footed the seal and I just couldn't hit it. Ohh well. After that, I got my net shoes on and played 4 or 5 matches.

I would like to thank Mike and his new wife Pingsha for there hospitality, Sam and Chad for the good times, Amy Westberg for putting on the tournament and everyone that was there. See you all next year!

Had my first session since the little session I had with Tuan.

I'm also sick.

I did a live broadcast, which made me realize that doing a live broadcast is dead. I was on for an hour, and no one showed up. I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but it didn't affect me.

Session sucked. It seems like I'm not getting use to these shoes at all! Maybe they just need some time. I don't know. I'm thinking I might change my game and make it alot like Big Add Chads. Whirls, ducking, spinning, double down's, spinning ducking, drifters, torques, atomic's, DLO's and fairies. I might throw in the occasional tripwalk here and there but that's it.

Sucky session highlight's;
Jani, first try
Rubberman
Footed Sunil first try
Flurry bs
Fairy beater bsos

That's all I can remember. Time for a hot shower, some Nyquil and then bed. This session sucked!

Hey man, live broadcasting's not dead. You just did it at a bad time. I wish I had check modified before playing cuz then we coulda had a cyber circle... Hmm, just saying that compels me to say "no homo" afterward. Anywho sucks about the crappy session. If it's any consolation, I had a crappy session too!

Thanks Doug!

I've just been having a bad week, and it's only getting worse.

Just had a "blowing off some steam" session. There was parts that helped, then some that didn't.

Highlight's;
Figbeater, about fucking time
Smoke, don't know if this is new or not
Fume
Ripsteins bs
Worked Whirrs. Came close to flip a few times. I think I've figured out how to hit it more consistently on my strong side.
Symp Whirls bs
Ripped Warrior, first time in forever. Footed Flip
Footed Flurry mid-run
Footed this drill, Toe Whirl > Far Rev Whirl > DLO rpt
DLO's need a ton of work
Flip Fairy needs tons of work
I almost think Flip Pixie is stronger than Strong Pixie
Footed Atomic Egg bs
Pdx Whirl > Pdx Egg off my foot bs
Tapping Egg, a decent/ok look at it

The last run of the night was going to be;
Fairy Muted Clip > Drifter > Drifter > Muted Nuke Clip > run

ended up like this;
Fairy Muted Clip > Drifting twisting of support ankle > Falling on ass > Holding ankle/in pain > Taking off shoe > Writhing in pain

Once the pain subsided, about 3 min's after it happened, I stood up and was amazed that I could put my whole weight on it without pain. I walked to my room, took off my other shoe, and came to write this. I also did some little hops with that foot/ankle/leg. No pain. I'm feeling some right now, but it's not too bad. Too bad now I can't do my training regime for I can get use to my quantum's. I guess I'll be taking even more time off....this sucks........my egg's have never felt better!

I tried to check out your live broadcast but had missed it by an hour or so. It's all about the luck of the draw as far as if people are online or not. Do you think that footbag strengthened your ankles to the point where it only took a few minutes for your ankle to feel better?

@Kevin. I do think footbag has some part in strengthening ankles, but also I think what helped was the adrenaline that was pumping from the session.

@Mike. Sometimes I do believe that I have Wolverines healing power. As for this, I wish I did have it.

Today my ankle is really stiff. I wouldn't really say it's swollen, but it does hurt. I've been doing some light stretching with it it and I can really tell that it does help some. I can put all of my weight on it still, but to be safe, I wrapped it and refrained from putting all of my weight on it. It hurts the most when I flex it into clipper position and or for an inside stall. When I do put all of my weight on it I can feel where it hurts. I'm still going to take a week off and see how it feels then. Hopefully it isn't that bad in the long run.

Ankles feeling really good today. It's not as stiff as it was yesterday. I can place it into full clipper position now, but it still hurts. I've done quite a bit of stretching with it already today. I'm still not going to play till next week. Which sucks. Yesterday I had the itch, and who knows about today seeing as it's too early to really tell.

Had my first session back since the rolling of my ankle. Ankle felt pretty good. I felt some twinging when I did clippers at first, but it subsided as the session went on. Also Rev Swirls where hard, and I could really feel it on them.

Highlight's;
Worked Flip Fairy for awhile....Still needs more work
Swirl > Blender bs
Rev Swirl > Dyno bs
Nuke Muted Clip
Some Drifters
Far Swirl bsos
Symp Whirl bs
Barrage bsos
Clip Dlo > Ss Dlo, almost bsos
DOD bs
Paradon bs
Worked Spinning Ducking......Both are relatively the same, one side is a bit stronger but not much
Spin Osis bs
Barfly b2b, I'm trying to get my timing for them again, damn these light ass shoes
Osis > Swirl > Whirl bs
Fairy b2b, Flip had a good set
Pixie Muted Clip bsos, first time I think

All of that in an hour. It was fun. Felt good to kick again. I had the itch since the day after the roll.

Other news. Judas Priest's new album Nostradamus is wicked!! I've been listening to it non-stop since I got it.

Swirl > Swirl > Swirl, one side, came close to flip quite a few times
Footed both Whirr's

Forgot some stuff...
Far Rev Swirl bs, Flip being new

Nice recovery time after rolling your ankle. Glad to know that it was not serious.

Great stuff! Swirls and Twirls are sweet and barfly b2b.... always loved that one. I can get the swirls once in a while and I have never hit a twirl, yet....

keep up the good work!! Your game has definitely stepped up!!

later....

Had a live session tonight. A lot of fun. John Goode, Doug Tank, Hippytom and someone from Australia.

Leg > Rip > Blur > rpt > Most of Rubberman
Side > Rip > Side > Food, footed Flip in the same run
Symp Torque bsos, Flip is new

Pdx Drifter, Pdx Whirl, Toe Whirl, Blur, Paradon all bsos in one run
Paradon > Barrage > Drifter > Dlo bs, Both sides got to Paradon and it rolled of both times
Ducking Pdx Mirage bs
Spinning Ducking Clip bsos
Muted Pixie Clip > Blender > Swirl bs
Gyro Barrage off my foot
50 Osii
Dlo > Egg > Leg

That's all I can remember. I know there was one more new trick, but I can't remember it. I think I'm going to be sore in the morning. I can already feel it in my lower back. Ohh well. I haven't had that kind of fun in a "solo" session in a long time.

Nice highlights Josh!

Oh, and in case you missed it in Mike's blog, here's the latest info on my schedule for my trip at the end of this month:
C-Fan wrote: My travel plans are pretty much finalized. I'll be in Phoenix from Feb 23 to March 1st. I actually get in the night of the 22nd, but I figure I'll just want to crash out then. I work til 5, and will likely have some work social functions to attend to, but I should be able to get in a session on Friday night and/or Saturday sometime. I'll let you know as I get my schedule nailed down better, but I wanted to let you know I'll be in town that week for sure. Looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Forgot a highlight from my "live" session. Blazing Butter bs

@Ken. Thanks. Sweet! Do you know where abouts you'll be? I'm presuming somewhere Downtown? Can't wait dude! It'll be fun to kick with you again.

Had a session tonight. Ended not more than 5 min's ago. I think it was somewhere in the vicinity of 2 1/2 hours. Drilled certain single tricks, some combo's that was requested from my last "live" session.

Highlight's;
Toe Whirl > Pdx Mirage rpt > Toe Whirl > Pdx Illusion rpt
Paradon > Pdx Mirage rpt > Paradon > Pdx Illusion rpt
Motion bs, Flip new
Ocean bs, Flip new
Far Motion bs
Clip Dlo > Paradon > Dlo > Toe Whirl
Clip Dlo > Paradon, flip side
Clip Dlo > Toe Whirl, flip side
Barfly > Handcatch x10 bs
Barfly b2b bs
Ripstein bs
Stepping Set, between pelvis and waist high, x10 bs
Symp Whirl > Handcatch x5
Symp Torque > Handcatch x5 strong
Symp Torque x0 flip =(
Spin Clip x4 strong, x3 flip
Far Swirl > Handcatch x5 bs, alternating
Swifter, strong, had a few good looks at flip
Dod x3 bs, I did each one individually
Ddd x3 bs, I did each one individually
Whirr, twice bs, flip is feeling really good. I think I've figured out how to finally hit it!
Blazing Butter bs
Symp Rev Whirl > Handcatch x2 bs
Symp Rev Whirling Swirl strong side
Pdx Egg x2 bs, I did each one individually
Pdx Whirl > Symple Swirl bs, for John Goode from my "live" session last week
Pdx Whirl > Symple Rev Swirl bs
Swirling Dragon bs
Drifter > Vortex > Run with Footing Drifter > Vortex on the other side, The combo is for Doug Tank from my "live" session last week

I'm content on ending my session there. It felt good hitting that combo. I didn't think that my spinning out of drifter would allow me to even get close on my flip side. I think my biggest accomplishment tonight was all the work that I did on Whirr. I was close to flip a couple of times during the Phx Open when Chad was in town. And then the night that I rolled my ankle I was getting close to it as well. So I'm glad that I've gotten it. The difference between my flip and strong Whirr's ir how I think about doing them. My flip I have to think like it's a Symp Whirl for the set, where as with my strong I don't. I think of it more like a Whirling set. Weird. I will continue to work both till they're effortless. I like that trick =]
