Training Tips for Diabetics

Post by Cnick946 »

I'm looking for some advice from any diabetics or people that are farmiliar with diabetes. I'm looking for ways to keep my blood sugar up before I plan to kick.
Anyone with any advice?

You really should talk to a health care professional about this - the consequences can be severe if you're diabetic and your diet is not carefully tailored to your lifestyle. Moreover it also depends on your body type and metabolism and other unique individual factors that may not apply to other people seemingly in a similar situation.

Yes, I will make sure to ask my doctor. I just wondered if there were any other diabetics who could share some "tricks of the trade".

As a diabetic you should monitor your blood sugar directly prior and directly after moderate to intense exercise. When you exercise, muscle cells become more permeable to glucose and therefore may alter blood sugar lower (and sometimes higher than) desired levels. Exercise is the absolute best thing you can do for yourself as a diabetic besides monitoring nutrition. Play footbag, have fun, just be more careful then those of us who party, drink, and smoke while kicking.
