Had a more than decent week with Anssi. Perhaps after midterms, and all the work I'll have to catch up on I'll write some things about it.

What an unforgettable week though. Monday's session with him I hit my first ps whirl bsos, and then b2b shortly thereafter. I also stepped out of my first whirr's, with a blurry whirl each side first time ever. If you watched the video Anssi made, it has both of those accomplishments on it. Everyday Anssi was somewhere new, and I hope I did a good enough job hosting him. I'd hate for him to regret coming to Canada.

Tonight, I hit some new stuff in Tom's garage, as the "last night session". I got...

First genesis. Footed flip at least 15 times, had a roll-y seal I wasn't happy with though.
Whirlygig bs.
Mullet bs.
Whirlwind bs.
Strong Montage.
Again, footed weakside montage many times but never got it sticky and sealed. I had to try too many times to get these, which made me annoyed that I was rushing again. Like, I just got a handle on ps whirls a week ago, I shouldn't care about montage. Anyway, good news is, I didn't hurt myself and I have no aches or pains even after trying at least 50+ flip montages.

I think I'll take this school week off of footbag, get shit done, study hard for midterms and let this week of really "european" shred relax. I've never done things that were harmful for my body, but symps/whirrs I hear can take their toll and I think the rest/regeneration of everything would do me good.

'Night modified.

I need to improve where I am in footbag.

No more of this shoe switching. Quantums it is. Byrin and Anssi can do it, and they are intolerably awesome.

Stuff I will drill until the end of February. I'll see how many I can check off. I know I wont do all of it, but it'd be nice to hit at least 10 of these, and improve in every other one. I think I could do some of these in a session, but others will take lots of work.

Drifter->vortex*8
Torque->ripwalk*8
Whirr*3
Flail->ss flail*4
Spinning whirl->ps whirl*rpt
Blurry whirl->stepping ss whirl*rpt
Grifter*4
Flux->infinity*rpt
Blazing mirage->reactor->ripwalk*rpt
Blender->pdx blender*rpt
scorpions tail->barfly*rpt.
Toe blur*8
Atomsmasher*20
xanabox drill.
Blurrier->barfly*rpt
Janiwalker->sunilwalker bsos.
Spinning osis*8
Bedwetter->dimwalk*rpt
Fog->dimwalk*rpt

I wouldn't mind learning superfly either. I'll see if I can get superduperfly by June.

I have *almost* started a challenge thread about 30 times. I don't know why I don't just do it, I always get halfway done the thread and close it. 3 cheers for insecurity.

yo, remember how easily you got whirlwind the other night? if you get your superflies good, and then warm up with muted spinning clipper to get the rhythm, you can just throw down the superfly. You've hit superfly BS, right? I bet you could get superduper at your next session if you approach it like you did for whirlwind. you might even find it easier because you don't have to set as "far" as you do for whirlwind, and you can start the DT concept earlier, maybe even with a lower set to between the belly button and the chest to make the superfly easier.

you've got the strength, you've got the technique.

June is not an ambitious enough goal.

Hey Jay!

The key to improvement is in the foundation, which I think you know already. Drill the foundation, make it easy, make it cake. When it is? Drill it a bit more. Drill it until it's efficient. Eggbeater x 15 is good, but Eggbeater x 14 > drop is even better if, for the entire time, you are in control, not winded, and still have the energy/strength to power out 6 more. You know?

If you're ever trying to take a concept up a notch (I'm just using Eggbeaters as an example, probably because I have to drill my Symp Eggs :P), start off with the foundation then take it one step up until it feels good and you feel you are in control of each trick and each link.

So for example, here's how I'd set my Eggbeaters up to reach certain attainable goals:

- Eggbeaters to a handcatch, on both sides, to get the feel of the trick and perhaps tweak muscle memory if I haven't done them in a while.

- Consecutive Eggbeaters. Set a small goal (say 10) and achieve while always being in control (the set, the trick, and the delay)

-Consecutive ss Eggbeaters. Same thing as ^ above ^.

- Eggbeater > ss Eggbeater. Same thing as ^ above ^.

- Eggbeater x 3 > ss Eggbeater x 3.

By now, if you've done all that, you're probably ready to move on to whichever path you wish to take with your Eggbeaters:

Blade > Blade

-Eggbeater > Atomic Illusion. As many repetitions as you can do.

- Blade Runner > Handcatch. 5 times or so each side.

- Atomic Illusion > Blade > Atomic Illusion x 2

- Eggbeater > Blade. Repeat.

Tapping Eggbeater > Blade Runner Drill

- Eggbeater > Atomic Illusion. As many repetitions as you can do.

- ss Eggbeater > Tapping Illusion. Same as ^ above ^.

- Blade > Tapping Illusion.

- Tapping Eggbeaters. As many as you can punch out.

- Blade > Blade. Work that link a lot!

Bedwetter > Dimwalk Drill

- Eggbeater > PLO. Work the pixie sets out of the Eggbeaters.

- Pdx Eggbeater > Dimwalk.

- Bedwetter > handcatch.

- Bedwetter > Butterfly. As many contacts as you can muster.

The basic outline can be taken for any concept, it all focuses on one thing: work in steps, progress in steps, drill in steps, and remember also that there are atleast three parts to one trick: the set, the trick, and the delay. You have to have control of all three aspects in order to effectively bust out that one trick.

Cheers, and good luck drilling! With your ambition and attitude I think you can reach a lot of those goals!

Baby Steps have begun.

I've been drilling LESS than (or equal to) two concepts a session, but on average only one single trick. For 3 days straight, I did egg->egg*rpt, switch sides, *rpt...

Once I got that for 3 days, I went to drill them, and started the session on egg->egg*rpt. Once I got my desired number of contacts, I started on blizzard->dimwalk*rpt, and once I dropped that under a certain amount of contacts I'd do egg->egg rpt. Then once I got that contact number again, I'd go back to drilling blizzards.

Anyway, this method proves to be working well. I'm on my second concept now, and today I just blew my own expectations away with it. My last session, I couldn't get a repeat over 8.5 contacts, and today I got over 16 two times, and hit 12+ contacts probably 20+times, and almost always over 6.

This is so rewarding. Somehow, with one single goal only, it isn't that hard to not get bored, since every drop you can say "Why did I drop that, try again". After a session, there is so much progress that it isn't boring at all.

Midterms are disturbing me at the moment. 1 calc last week, 1 materials engineering this week, 1 Electric Fields this week, 1 econonmics Saturday, 2 drafting next week, 1 more calculus next week,

drumroll,

And then Texas :) I hope I can school enough to impress the guys there. My goal is that three of the proposed things I listed above will be easily hit by then. I've already knocked off one, so two more to go.

Oh, by the way, I've noticed the front toe of my right foot has come a TINY bit unglued, and a tiny area on my left instep is coming unglued on my BRAND new "fixed" quantums. I swear to god China, if you make me switch shoes again I will cry like a schoolgirl all over you.

Oh Jay :) you make me laugh whenever I read your blog. Last time it was about slot machines and feeling up strippers. This time angry at China.

If I could find some kind of excuse to go to Texas I would :-p

Well, I end my Wednesday on a nice high note of glory. I studied all day for my math and drafting midterms I write tomorrow, and I feel somewhat confident in my performance for both. The way our University is presenting integrals to us, is similar to how a middle aged balding male would feel about himself if his mother didn't hug him enough as a child. However, conquering them one by one feels truly rewarding, and I like that.

I walked to the elavator, long shorts on body, not looking to do anything but have a nice session filled with easy tricks. I ended up working whirling sets as a result of my new Challenge thread, and I really need to school. Luckily in the future I will have Jorden and Johnny both as visual aids in the progression of this set. I have asked them before on how one can do this set, and nothing really sank in at that moment. This wasn't due to a lack of me not caring enough, nor them not giving good enough advice; rather something else I have thought of. I don't think advice really works until you understand, or misunderstand a move by practise. I feel that if you get advice for a move you aren't ready for, then you can't translate it properly to your body and make the proper ajustments. I notice on something like atomic, when I get advice I can control my body well enough to make a difference. However, on, whirling for example I am like a child. You know how it is when you tell a child that his pet frog Wilbut died, he just wouldn't understand the concept and would want him back.

So in conclusion to that, I can now draw on the advice that they both passed my way, and I think I can start working towards some of the challenges within. I'm trying to do every set in such a way that there is no possibility for pain, and thus I can't get very high sets. Before, since I knew I was only doing less than 5 sets maximum I would just fling my foot in the air and get a pdx mirage out, but with a conservative, begin symp, kick self in ass set there is a much more delicate balance of timing from the release/set and the dex. I stopped once I got flipside whirling butter*5, and I hope I can get that number quickly next session.

So, I amble to the elevator which still rings "Anssi" in my ears, from the session we had in what was once my private getaway. I click the button for the ground floor, and do some whirr dexersizes in confusion of it all. I just did some today that reminded me of the "spitting" image of what Will Diggs told me last year at GRASS. I sourly can't produce this every time, and have thus told myself I will continue the quest for Whirr's once I have a handle on whirling sets in the first place. Once I get back to my room, I turn on Vasek's section of Natural Born Kickers...Which is still the best footage of mankind to date, despite what some think about Bill Nye's golden years. I just couldn't take it. Whirl after spin after double down after symp whirl, he is just too badass. I needed to have a real session, I needed to fly.

So, I walked into my livingroom and did whirls. I thought to myself "I suck, my whirls don't wrap around like his. They should". I proceeded to do the easiest and best looking symp whirls I've ever done. Just thinking about it, for some reason clicked that switch that set that gear inside my brain, and allowed me to do a symp whirl with a swoop like Mr.Klouda. It felt good. I did some pdx whirls, and some spinning whirls. Jorden gave me some advice for spinning whirl, that just clicked this session too. I proceeded to do peektime spinning whirls into spinning butters into repeats of that, which felt, morning glory. I then said to myself "Well, lets do some ps whirls". I got them, with more of a Vasek style swoop, and I just couldn't take it. Vasek is too good, too saucy and has such great style. I am forever indebt to such a being, and I really anticipate my next session, as I stopped this one with a much better feeling than 20 minutes before.

Oh, since it was kind of warm out today, I wore shorts and lavers. I showed some of the people I was studying math with Footbag, and they were blown away. I hit some ps whirls, ripsteins, frankensteins, and ripped warriors with an odd sense of ease... I also got superfly, double spinning clippers and a nice string of "spinning ducking butter*2->spinning butter->spinning osis->pdx whirl->infinity->spinning ducking butter->mobius, to handcatch, or somthing along those lines, and it just felt so natural. It was really cool to do math with them for 4 hours straight, and then just blow their minds away with something that they were never expecting when I said the thing in my hand was a hacky sack.

I look forward to my challenge thread. I know many of the things already in there will take far longer than what they expected, but I hope the video I make of the first challenges looks like I am controlled and know what I am doing. Vasek spoke to me at this years worlds, it was magical.

:D at 2007´s todexon vasek and peter broca were sitting on my table while i drunkenly toyed around with my bag, peter grabbed it, looked at it and said:" i would buy it, i i would buy a bags" then he passed it to mr klouda and he hand dexed it a few times and play with it in his hands for over 30 minutes, as he stoud up to leave for more drinks he nearly forgot to pass it back to me and said:"realy realy nice bag, whoever made this must realy know what he does" next day i told him i made the bag he had last night and he said something like "sometime you gotta send me one of those" or something in that fashion.

just to share the story. :) oh and yes, jays bags are rad! if you do not stich much, i challenge you to stich 3 nice bags within the next 2 weeks :P

What the hell is in that water at McMaster? Do they put pieces of Vasek in your stew at dinner time?

Well, as it turns out McMaster University has an elite force within their water, but it is not Vasek. Mother Destroyer has secretely been capturing the sweaty remains of Little Destroyer as he shreds, juggles and fights those nasty Canadian winter fevers in dispair. Small barrels the size of smurfs are then filled with this love-potion and sent up the way of Main Street West, and then in great fury filtered through each of the 4 stomachs that a cow possesses since birth. The milk is taken from these little vixens and is then churned into the butter which I use to spread accross the middle of each tea biscuit I purchase each day for lunch.

Thanks Mother Destroyer.

Oh, I finally hit my Mikko drill. Ever since I saw first day out 2005, I dreamt of hitting blender->paradox blender*rpt, with such flair and snappyness as he. As it turns out, it felt just as good as I thought it would have, and I can't wait to hit it many more times for the years to come.

Someone hug Mikko for me.

As for how the rest of shredding is going, I am silently looking through my drill list from the challenges thread, and working through them. I've gotten through a few, and I think I will succeed with the goal above, of hitting 10 challenges by the end of this month. Hip hip hooray.

20 minutes later I still feel like throwing up, kind of like when you are car sick as a child and just keep staring at the horizon in hopes that you feel better. As it turns out, an hour straight of double spinning attempts/drilling can mix that 'Ugh I'm drenched in sweat" feeling, with that "Hey, I'm spinning constantly" feeling, just to the right amount that you have to stop due to motion sickness.

I made some progress though, but I still have miles and miles to go. It's just one of those concepts that some make look extremely easy, and the rest just never do. I got a new spinning clipper record for my flipside, of 14. I'm not sure if that is good or bad, because not many people write down their spinning clipper records. I feel as though it should be much higher.

Ugh, this sick feeling is just growing.

Fairy ducking butterfly->Gyro double legover- down over down swirl bs.

I had never hit the dod swirl before today, so I thought "hey, let's try a far legover into it", and I got that a few times bs...Then I thought "hey, lets turn that into a double legover into it?" and then I did that a few times...Then I thought "Hey, why not put a gyro in front of it?" and I hit that a few times. Then I thought "Hey, why not make it a sick 3?" and then put a fairy ducking butterfly in front of it.
