Hi Grrrant. The circles thing is totally true. People are there from all over the place, and they have different circle etiquette, especially at events. No self serves in general unless you know the circle is cool with them or whatevs.
In terms of your resolutions, they sound sweet. I don't have any. You make me want to make some. And yes, the internet is a waste, nothing to do, and yet I am always on it too. Perhaps it's just a phase in society and we'll all go back to having picnics and hanging out with people.
Good to see you at NYJ.

It's my blog, about me, so it's not really off topic. haha.
I was somewhere around 6'4" back then, but I doubt I really was. Probably more around 6'3" or 6'2", but with wrong measurements during gym class and a little wishful thinking I must've been close. I'm like 6'4" to 6'5" now, and hopefully I'm done growing.

I'm starting to write a 4 or 5 track demo cd. Just for myself. I just want to broaden my songwriting horizons, and build some sort of repertoire (right now I only have like 20 unfinished songs that I don't think I'll finish ever). And by making a cd, I'm not only forcing myself to write different kinds of songs, but I'm focusing in on finishing everything, rather than just putting it off till later.
I've made a fast wisdom tooth recovery, but I'm still not well enough to play footbag. But the more I think about it, the less I want to play. I want it to be fun again. If every day could be like the first day of NYJ for me, I'd never quit. But going down into the basement with a footbag, a couple cd's (my *cheap* ipod speakers broke after a year of use) and a large glass of water seems like such a hassle, even if it is only a couple steps away. And finding out that after a week or two off, you're back at the tiltless stage is very frustrating. I feel like I used to need footbag. When I was smaller (not much smaller. only a couple years), I used to watch this one show called beyblade (I even collected the tops, even though I didn't really have anyone to play with. And when I got older, footbag kind of took its place; I became the hero in my own story, and I could do all sorts of neat stuff, and I was better than all my friends, and I practiced really really hard (I got guitless within a year of when I started), and I finally felt like I found my place. But maturity started setting in, and now I feel like I don't need footbag in the same way I used to. And now my footbag dream and my music dream are fighting with each other, trying to become the prominent focus in my life, and they're both battling my dream of being a regular, hard-working individual that makes a decent amount of money and has a family. I just can't find time for all my hobbies while still succeeding at normal life (I'm suprised I'm getting the grades I'm getting, because I never do homework or study; I'm either playing guitar, playing footbag, listening to music, or working. Maybe it's just that I waste too much time on nothing, or get so caught up in one thing that I just loose track of time. It's hard to tell.

I wrote a new song called "magic pills."

I'm doing a footbag routine for some sort of beauty pagent at school for guys. Well, it's more of like a mini-talent show to raise money for breast cancer research. If I was self-conscience I probably wouldn't do it, but I really don't care what anybody thinks. I'm over stuff like that now. Being cool is the last thing on my mind now, and I'd much rather have fun than worry about what some idiot thinks of me. So yeah.
The routine is to the song "Ecstacy of Gold" by Ennio Morricone. It was originally going to be to the song "Living in the Sunlight" by Tiny Tim, but the dynamics in Ennio's song make it a lot more of an exciting routine. I'm going to do a lot of easy tricks so I don't drop a lot and then feel like an idiot. But they'll get harder as they go on.

I would just stick to the easy tricks. Non-footbaggers dont know the difference, and it will be more impressive for them if you drop less. Do some ducking moves and they will be like "oh no he didn't". Maybe a double around the world and they will be like "oh snap he went around dat twice."

I played today, and it felt weird. Almost unreal. Like the skill was somehow locked up for a lot time and I just found the key and unlocked it. I wasn't 100%, but I definately didn't feel bad. Out of shape, maybe, but not bad. That's gotta be the first time where I haven't played in a long time but didn't feel like I had to start all over. I also hit dyno for the first time.
First half of the session I messed with the routine I'm doing (I want to do all 3:00 of the song. I wasn't going to, but when I said I only needed 2/4 minutes to do the routine, the teacher in charge of the event told me I needed to try to fill my time up as much as I could.) So I figure by starting the music out first and doing some sort of choreographed bullshit interpretive dance kind of thing (not really interpretive dance, but I can't think of anything else to call it. More of like an interpretive waste of time to get the ball rolling. It may or may not include one other person walking by and dropping the so called "gold" on the ground, which I will later feel "ecstasy" for.) So it'll be more or less a 2 minute routine with a 1 minute intro. I have to pace myself though, and not only to not reveal too much of my skill, but not knock myself out too early. And I still have to think of a finishing move type thing. I can't do whirls well when I'm tired, so blurry whirl or ps whirl are a no. I'm thinking maybe ducking ps mirage, or phoenix, but those might be hard, too. I think I'll improvise. Depending on how tired I am, I'll pick a certain trick, and I'll give myself like a second or two to decide. No big deal to me. I should just limit my choices to a couple so I'm not just like "PIGBEATER" out of nowhere then kick the bag flying into the audience or something then hit some old lady's glasses.

My routine went fairly good. I think I dropped like 6 times, but I might be wrong. A lot of kids "oooooo"d and "aaaaa"d which was cool. Apparently I got the most applause out of everyone else, but when you're up on stage like that you really can't hear it as well as you would think. I also learned to pick a shorter song next time (although I really didn't have that much of a choice) and that people go crazy when you do neckstall-handstands and walk across the stage with the bag. The music also made it kind of more epic, too. My parents took a video, so it might be up on youtube later, but I'm not exactly sure how to get from the tape to my computer (we've never had to do it before).
I hate waiting backstage for stuff. I'd rather be out there the entire time. My nerves were so bad, but it's like once I got on stage nothing was wrong. Once it was all over though, I was really excited and happy that I did it. Besides the talent portion, there was also an opening dance thing to the theme of the song macho man (not really dancing, but I don't know what else to call it.) And there was a "camera pose then introduce yourself" thing after that, where I posed twice, then said to the audience "Hi, my name is Grant Mooney, and when I grow up I want to be a fire truck." Then after that the talent, and then a "casual wear" section (I decided to wear a dress) where I had to answer why I wanted to be "Mr. Kaneland" and what the last chick flick I saw. My answers were "I shouldn't be Mr Kaneland, because I'm wearing a dress" and "I think the term chick is degrading." And that was basically it. I didn't win (I think I got like 4th or 5th place, but I don't really know) but I don't care. I'm glad that I did something that was out of my shell. It was fun.
