The New Generation of Footbags

Please help me to create the next line of my footbags by answering the above poll. Would you prefer to buy a bag that lasts you 5 months but that literally breaks in in about 1 week, or a bag that takes about 3 weeks-a month to break in, but lasts about 8-10 months?

i'm sure some people might need a footbag ASAP so they would need the fast break in one. But others are looking for long lasting footbags. I got a fast breaking in one because i couldn't wait and its starting to die. I wish i would have gotten a longer lasting one.

I'd personally prefer a bag that lasts longer, even if it takes longer to break in. I usually buy a bag when I know my current one is on it's way out. That way I have time to break it in, before the old bag dies. It also gives you more time to get the feel of it, especially if it's a new type of bag.

If I want cheep and disposable, I'll sew one myself.

i voted for short break in time but what i would really prefer is a long lasting but short break in time bag

sounds impossible! not if people move away from the current materials being used for bags. I know some people dont like crushed panne but it breaks in one session and lasts for ... well I have not killed one yet. And I am sure there must be other good fabrics out there that last a long time, break in quickley and have some of the same characteristics as synetic suede.

the longer lasting bag would be sure to bring a smile to my face.

if people are lazy and want bags that they barely have to break in then they should play with sandbags. keep the quality bags coming.

jon....the biggest reason y bags die isn't because of the material. Its because one of the stiches break or the sticking becomes loose. Although in some cases panels blow out but that is because of impropper treatment. Thats y you don't "chicken scratch" paneled bags. It breaks the stiching.

how about one in the middle?1 and half to 2 week break in period wiht a 7 to 9 month life span?that would be perfect i think...

The best idea would be to do both. Have 2 lines of bags. I have just come to this realization myself.

I want the highest performance bag you can make at what ever cost. I could care less about how long it last. A bag that is choice from day one, not filled with sand, makes a nice crisp noise when caught, sets cleanly without loopydooping in the air, and lasts about 12 sessions (36Hrs) would be great if you can bring it to market for less than $80.

I bought one of your bags at the Vegas Jam. So far, it seems to have broken in within about 2 weeks. And as far as I know, it's still about as full as it was when I first bought it. That is how I like them so far.

As far as the poll goes, I think it would be the best if it lasted longer. You know how poor us footbaggers are, lol. But I think it's good that they last, as there will be the people (like me) who still aren't completely gentle to their bags. My $0.02

Well, I am certainly not going to change materials. facile is of course my mtrl of choice. I have just been experimenting with different weights, different styles of stitching, different amounts of gathering to see what effects these variables have on overall playability, amount of breakin time, how mush filler is lost(leaks out) during the break-in period, and overall sweetness of the bag.

I have found that a few of the aforementioned variables will tend to slow or speed "break-in" however these same variables may also wear the bag out sooner. that is what I am testing. I dunno. We'll see how it all turns out in the end.

Send the bag with seed beads or some sort of heavy beads in it, and include just the right amount of plastic pellets in the corner of a ziploc or something. Seed beads speed up the breakin (compared to pellets) and they can be bled once the bag is playable, replaced wiht plastic pellets, and then you have a short breakin and long life.

My vote goes for longer lasting. I think if someone really put their mind to it, they could come up with an automated machine/process for breaking in bags, so they could be sold broken in without sacrificing longevity.
