Kyle's Footblog
So I decided to start my very own footblog to keep track of my progress in the world of footbag. I guess I'll start out with some background information. My name's Kyle. I'm 14 years old. I skateboard, surf, and run track. I started playing footbag in the beginning of January, when I found an old Nike 12 panel under my bed that I bought when I was really little. I started kicking and attempting things I had saw other people do, like toe stalls and around the worlds. I got better at kicks and decided to take my curiosity of "hacky sack" to the internet. I saw a couple videos on youtube of Vasek and Jorden and, even though I didn't know who they were yet, thought they were absolutely amazing. I found modified after even more exploration of footbag on the web and that's when it really started. I ordered a Josh Raye 32 panel off freedomfootbags.com which, looking back at it, wasn't the best decision I've ever made considering I was still very new to the sport. But, I love the bag and still use it now. Over the past month or two I've gotten most 2 adds pretty consistently. So that's pretty much my whole footbag career up until now

FIRST RESPONSE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
edit: Just read your post. COOL MAN!
The best advices I can give are:
1: HAVE FUN! Funk the bullcrap yo. Be competative when you have/want to, be jealous/envious IF you have/want to... but no matter what. Always mostly be yourself and try and have fun. I've ROLLED my ankle before.. only to get laid later that day partly only because I rolled my ankle. (just an example).. but yeah HAVE FUN man.. in LIFE just ENJOY IT OMG!
2. Dont do stuff that HURTS!!! Don't get me wrong, feel the burn, but if something like hurts your knee, that means you aren't using the correct mechanics.. never fear, you can learn to do it correctly.. but do that.. learn to do it correctly somehow. If DLO hurts, practice mirages and legovers.. if mirage hurts.. practice toe stalls. Its cool you already do other sports.. I'm sure youll be fine, but footbag is pretty intense and needs cross training to get to a certain level... yoga / tae kwon do / some sort of dance... are all amazing... wait for it.. wait for it..

Had another session once I got home from school. I worked one my illusions on both sides a lot. I think I only hit it twice on my strong side out of the 1856383 times I tried and only once on my flip. I really have no idea why they're so difficult for me. That's the only 2 add that I can think of that I can't do.
I also tried some symp. mirages, after I got pissed off with the illusions, which are feeling a lot more comfortable than they were when I first attempted them.
Oh, and I almost landed my first 5 add yesterday. Fairy ducking butterfly. I was really bored and didn't feel like doing anything tiltless anymore so I tried it after realizing that my fairies were feeling really strong. I caught it with my foot but didn't catch it in my hand on only my second try. It was pretty epic. I don't think I've even landed a ducking butterfly before lol. That really ended my session well.

I did nothing but illusions for an hour today. I think my problem before was that I was setting the bag too close to my body and I didn't leave enough space between the bag and my setting leg to get my dexing leg around. I landed a few on my strong side but not many on my weak. I'll work more on it tomorrow.
I have youth group at my local church tonight I'll hopefully start a circle there with some friends. That's always fun. I have to make sure I bring a bag that isn't a really nice one like I did last time. I was so afraid someone would do that stupid kick-up thing and tear my choice, fragile Josh Raye bag

Good to see you are schooling a bunch. Fairy ducking butterfly is sick, but sicker if you can link into and out of it. Keep schooling the basics and get a good foundation and then the big moves will just come.

Had a pretty long session today. Almost 3 hours. As usual, I mostly did illusions, pickups, and legovers. Illusions are feeling a looottttt better on both sides now. I feel like I can get them once every ten times, which is a huge improvement over like one in a thousand. Pickups/legovers also feeling a lot better, even though I am still better on my strong side.
In the last half hour I also did some ducking/diving clippers and toe stalls. I feel like my stalls are strong enough that I can start working on other fundamentals, other than just dexes.
The big trick of the night was a diving same side osis on both sides. It feels pretty cool to be hitting 4's, even if I probably shouldn't attempt anything bigger than a 3. It's always a great way to end a session though

I just got back from snowboarding all this weekend. It was fun as hell but after constant riding for two days I'm beat. Tried to session but couldn't hold my stall my legs were so tired.
We have a snow day tomorrow so I'll hopefully get some rest and be ready to shred again Tuesday.

We're completely snowed in today. I wanted to shred all day but my parents made me bring my little brother sledding and, being the dumbass I am, I jumped off a hill onto the sled and bruised my tail bone which already was black and blue from snowboarding. I can't even stand up now. Looks like I won't be doing much until it feels better.

I actually did work on my first bag a little bit today. I started it almost a week ago but never really spent much time on it. I just got word that we have no school again tomorrow so maybe I'll finish it and post pics within the next day or so. From what I have done now (maybe half) it really doesn't look very bad for an old t-shirt bag.

Had a little session today. My tailbone feels better, but not good enough to where I can go all out. I only worked on linking my 2 adds together which is something I need a lot of practice with. I feel like I can hit most of my tricks very consistently, but only from a drop or a toe stall. I can't hold a string for much more than 5 contacts, even when I just stay tiltless. Hopefully I'll improve on that weak spot soon.
Oh, and I'm really close to being done with my first 32. I'll post pics as soon as its done.

I haven't really been footbagging very much lately. Spring track started so I've been training for that a lot, which also has left me so sore for the past week I can barely walk. I did manage to have a little session after practice today, but didn't get much further than kicking it before my legs gave up. Hopefully after these next couple weeks of conditioning I'll be back to normal again.

Haven't really posted here in a while. I got to session with Jordan today, which was pretty cool because I never really play with anyone who is better than me. It was a nice session until it started raining
Hopefully we are gonna start shredding more with the couple other players in our town.

Had a small session today. Track is 95% over, so i can finally footbag more. I didn't feel nearly as good today as I did last week (I think?) when I sessioned with Jordan, but it was still good. I mainly did clipper stuff until my knee started hurting, which ended my session. I'm really enjoying my lightly modded black leather lavers, too. Sooo much better than my first butchered white pair
