Broken Nose

Post by fool »

I broke my nose today playing some football in the snow.. I took a shoulder to the face :D .
There is a fracture on the nasal bone and it's slightly displaced, or so I'm told.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this injury (I'm assuming many, since it seems to be pretty common) and how long it might take to recover.. I know I won't make my baseball tryouts I have on Friday, but can I expect to be back soon? (And of course back to footbag :) ).

I've never had that injury but when I was three I fell off a ladder and almost cut my nose completely off. I still have a scar.

Hmmm, three years ago i had same problem. But it connected with my problem with nasal bone - it was distorted in my childhood. So, after breaking bone (in surgery, sure) :) i recover nearly three weeks.

I've never broken my nose (thanks to milk most likely), but cartilage generally takes much longer to heal than bone or muscle. This is because it has fewer blood vessels. I'm not too sure about the nose though, it might be an exception. Just make sure the nasal septum is not deviated or you may have snoring problems (and possibly sleep apnea) later on.

edit: I just realized you said nasal 'bone', so you can forget what I said about cartilage.
