I never really liked the footblog aspect of modified. It seems like such a trend nowadays to use sites like myspace and facebook. So when modified started up with the footblogs I felt for the first time that footbag was becoming trendy. Not that there is anything wrong with following trends. It's just that it seems to attract half-interested people who 'use' footbag to make friends instead of because they truly love the sport.

I should have been more specific and said "becoming trendy on the internet". Footbag will never be trendy among the general population.

Nicer weather > more outdoor stuff > less time on internets
maybe?

Does it matter too much if the forum is dying? It seems more and more people are getting into the game all the time. There's already a lot of content and people are encouraged not to post new threads that have already been done, so maybe it's a few things leading to less activity here. Either way, keep kicking.

It's not doing as well as it could because of the stupid setup we have where all the people and info are hidden away on some stupid crappy forum and nobody uses the amazing resources we have available to us. When people google footbag they find .org and .org makes it look like everyone stopped playing in the 90's.

I mostly blame Cameron Kennedy for butting heads with Steve Goldberg during the attempt to get modified over to .org.

The part that pisses me off the most is that Cameron doesn't even post in the fucking footbag threads.

My finger is firmly pointed.

Then go post on .org.

I'm pointing my finger at the sky, but I'm looking at tom.

Since the history of why this place became the main forum, and .org didn't is lost on new players, I'll post this link.

you may have been told it's cam's fault, but, like I told you last time you said that, there was a lot more to it than that. Well, not a LOT more to it...

but, the butting heads with cam wasn't the problem.

The butting heads with cam was a SYMPTOM of the problem.

As for the problem... I've got my own feelings on that.

I think footbag chooses you. Something about this little sport only catches the interest of certain individuals.

maybe it is the audience we are trying to target it too...

everyone is responsible for the curent situation we are in. As nice as it would be to see the sports best players make it big, whatever that means, I personally don't care all that much.... well maybe a little.

The sport needs the recognition, not the players.

lets get out to the schools, parks and exibitions.

I have a couple gigs lined up this summer for Kidz expose. I'm not the greatest footbagger (and speller) in the world, but I'm a good player and I just might have a little more sex appeal then the other guy.

So you want to see results.... then get off your ass's and start doing stuff in your community. I have three new shredders in my city this year, not to mention some others that are off and on. footbag is what you make of it.

it only seems like this because tom mosher doesn't post that often any more. he consisted of about 35% of the daily post count.

;) I love modified.

If you are pointing at Cam - You might as well be pointing at me.

Only I LOL at that notion. Who am I? An over weight guy that couldn't shred his way out of a wet paper bag.

I am pointing at Brad K. >>> What a Dick? ;) hahaha

But seriously, when I first started hitting BOPs in Hacky circles, those around me quit playing. Like seriously commented that what I was doing had shattered their view of the game, and they no longer wanted to play.

That's kinda the way I felt when Vasek appeared. Now-a-days the newbies are hitting tricks and combos that I have never even tried. It is super intimidating. I wonder if the intimidation factor has anything to do with it.

Comments like "I am pointing at Brad K. >>> What a Dick? ;) hahaha" probably don't help matters.
Go out and shred already.

I observed the same trends in my social(hack) circles. Peculiar.

I point the finger at the trend of people who had been shredding for less than a year, coming up on modified and making 1500 posts in six months, and dolling out advise and opinions on tricks they have never hit, and concepts they don't understand. It seemed to aggravate the old guard of players, and much noob hating went down. This scared away the noobs, and made the older players disillusioned with the forum.

Also.....many of us are assholes. Many.

I have to say I totally object to unprovoked name-calling, especially from a fellow mod. Disappointing. You could avoid contributing to the problems we have on this forum.

Nobody's posting because they're busy typing in the FlashChat.

Seriously though, I'd prefer no posts over useless posts. Much nicer to spend 5 seconds on modified seeing that there's nothing to read, than five minutes reading bollocks and regreting it.
Of course the best scenario would be spending fifteen minutes on modified, reading something interesting and feeling like you want to spend another fifteen minutes to reply.
