Reebok G-unit Modding Session (pics included!!!)

So, I took the plunge and did it. Guided by flipsider Eliot's video, plus tutorials here.

I've been thinking for a few days what to do, since this G6 model (Reinvention) is not the same as Low model. There are some differences, mainly on the inside as you are about to see on pics.

After I modded them
-I didn't know how deep should I cut, so I went step by step, resulting in nearly two hours of job. As you can see, there are stitches that hold this "elastic stripe" but they don't go through inner layer (mesh), so it's kinda similar to regular Gs, but not the same. Also, this stitch on the toe area is on a little different spot, so at the end I didn't cut part of the toe as Eliot did on his vid.

I must say I am not so much good at fixing small things, so I am pretty much satisfied how this came out, there is only one minor cut through the mesh on the side, I'm gonna patch it if necessary. IRL this inside looks a little better, not this ugly.
Also, I think I am not gonna mod shoes in the future, this session showed me that. I felt like butcher literally, hated it. Luckily, there are Quantums and this new Abshire shoes apparently are gonna come out, so hopefully no modding for me anymore

So, what do you reckon? Are they gonna hold, or fall apart?

The mod looks really good. The toe box looks really big, but that might be because of the lacing.

Btw Waylon, inspired by your tutorial I removed remaining foam yesterday, and did some minor cosmetic changes here and there.

Those insides look so clean I could eat food off of them. For the left shoe I would use a lighter to burn away the remaining white threads that are popping out (I assume that's a separate layer that doesn't factor with attaching the mesh to the sole of the shoe, correct?).

In regards to your question Uros, it's all about preference and comfort. The only mods that I believe are necessary for footbag are the toe and inside, because most of your delays and sets are relegated in those areas. And I feel that the fewer mods you put on a shoe, especially for leather shoes for footbag, the cleaner the look. But for some people, the more layers you remove from a shoe, the lighter the shoe feels. In my honest opinion any extra mods are unnecessary, but if you feel you want to remove more layers off a shoe it is certainly an option to pursue.

Just be careful that if you do mod the outside section of the your shoes off, that you perform your swirls well. Sometimes leaving the leather intact in that area is a good thing when it comes to keeping your shoes alive.

Yeah, you are right, it's separate. Will do it. Actually, I just did some of it by hand.

Mine are 11.

They are called Reebok G6 Reinvention. I see that they are extremely rare online, bummer. There are only a few sites out there that sold'em (most of them are more expensive comparing to the store I bought'em from). Didn't see any USA based site, they must be available only in the Europe.

i only cut off a very small area of the leather on inside surface, just the area i need to stall on. thats the best way to give your units a more stable, solid feel.
