good session today. everything i tried felt strong.
from now on, whenever i say bsos, it means guiltless unless otherwise noted. this was not the case in this blog up till now.

today was an "i suck @ footbag" session.
was a stressful day @ work & was super windy while we were playing, made it difficult to stay focused. i powered through & hit a few new things:
ducking switch -> paradon bsos
paradon + dod bsos
symp whirl x 2 ( not b2b, they were on the same side in a guiltless string )
john hit some nice stuff, including blurry whirl b2b.

at the outset i declared a "lazy session". i think i may have even used the word, "fun".
above & beyond this notion, which remained unaltered & truthful for the duration, i also hit some "firsts".
dod -> blender bsos
drifter -> pdx drifter bsos
barrage bsos
paradon + dod x 2 bsos
BEESAUCE!

what a weird two weeks this has been.
2 failures followed by 2 successes keeps things on an even keel. the big learn this time around is, "you cannot build your game around interim sessions."
so, i have a weakness / penchant for the digital arts. in particular, gaming. caught in the mighty grips of a new digital venture, my daily routine was cast aside while seeking to accomplish something...else.
emerging from the darkness, i realize that i have gained 20 pounds. WTF? ( when i don't play footbag, my diet & exercise routine that supports it also goes to shit. )
so, eating high amounts of sodium ( pizza, chips & the like ) increases the body's capacity for water retention. much of the excess i was carrying was pure water weight. the interesting thing about this situation is that playing footbag cuts that weight so ridiculously fast, it's incredible.
my first day back playing, i lost 5 pounds. the second day, i lost 4 pounds. i have played every day since starting up again & the constant flow of getting back to where i was is enough inspiration to keep me powering through.
BUT THEN, LO--TRAGEDY STRIKES!
Enter the Bone Basics.
after my second day back, the supply runs dry. for anyone interested, Bone Basics is hands down THE BEST calcium supplement i have ever used. the above link has tons of info & articles if you'd like to read about why that is.
essentially, Bone Basics is more than just calcium. it is pretty much little chunks of bone that insert themselves directly into your bone structure.
it has been a training staple for me for a long time, especially since i'm getting closer to the 30 year mark ( 28 in august ).
so, anyone who has played footbag while overweight knows how dangerous it can be to try for certain components, as it is just putting that much more stress on your lower body. ( symposiums for example ) same thing goes for long strings.
so, with me trying to fight back to where i was, my source for bone replenishment runs dry & at the end of day 3 i'm really feeling some uncomfortability in my knees.
well, easily enough i replenish my stock. after last night's session, I OD on the stuff, taking 18 capsules between last night & this morning.
i woke up this morning, ZERO pain. even though i know "the stuff" works, it still surprises me sometimes.
there is a new saying in KTown--"Resort to snort."
this pretty much means, "i played so intensely today, that i will be required to snort Bone Basics to survive."
Bone Basics: Resort to snort.

good session today. relaxed & fun, which is ironic considering we were playing outside of the police station.
rakes are coming along well. able to work them into strings regularly. they give so many cool options for linking, & they also serve as a clip to toe transfer without breaking guiltless. ( clip > toe transfers are a definite weak point in my game )
footed a nice whirling rake, they seem like they'll come along pretty smoothly. i'd like to try drifter rake next session ( or pdx miraging rake sounds cool ).
hit gyro osis bsos + spinning osis bsos, prob the cleanest ( feeling, at least--spotted the bag & froze after each spin before going into osis ) spin + osis moves i've ever done. hit osis > swirl bsos in that same string.
john's game is getting to be like, whoa. hopefully he'll update his blog one of these days with his crazy business.
i've been thinking a lot about jay's line about "freedom" in relation to footbag. it resonates well.

whelp, the summer of lone shred begins.
had a pretty superb session at tom mosher's new pad, for john's going-away shred ( tree planting leaves little time / energy for shred ). everybody was playing well. tom's pixie paradons are sick!
mosher's pad is simultaneously sick. stefan likened it very much to the setup in the terra verde residences at 2007 worlds. super chill ( & in some cases, cute ) roommates, nice spacious hardwood floors ( good for living & for shred ) & a super retarded bong that knocked me clean on my ass--twice!
thanks for the hospitality tom. thanks to carmen for the wheels & tom for the late night lift to the bus station, it was much appreciated.
good luck to john & stefan on your westward journey. i'll hold down the fort on the homefront.
signing off,
k-town shred warrior
ps. just hit swirl > rev swirl bsos in my store while a customer was browsing. spontaneously swirlicious.

marcin bujko teaches people to drifter without even realizing it.
i didn't even realize i was learning it until i hit 23 in a row. that dexing window can be so precisely small, it's GLORIOUS.

k, footbag is great.
SUNSHINE, the great motivator, giver of energy, promoter of earth's continued existence...such invigoration i just don't have during the offseason.
i am seriously considering moving to a place that does not have an offseason. to be able to play every day of the year outdoors seems like a distant dream, though. we'll see how things pan out here in the next year before i consider a move.
speaking of moves--
started training for pixie ss blender & pixie op blender.
pixie to ss toe catch > ss toe blender, hand catch.
pixie ss clip > blender, hand catch.
pixie ss whirl > osis, hand catch.
pixie to op toe catch > ss toe blender, hand catch.
pixie op clip > blender, hand catch.
pixie op whirl > osis, hand catch.
i did all of the above about 10-15 times each on both sides. figuring out toe blenders was the biggest help, i feel. we'll see if i hit all 4 of the 5s tonight.
symple swirls feeling more relaxed. started working on twirl. i hit them bs, but they are pretty fugly atm.
stepping is feeling much, much better. which is cool, b/c i barely ever train it. i should hit some blurry whirls tonight, after some consecutive ripwalks.
ducks / spins are pretty effortless now. definitely need to start pushing these concepts further. weaving legovers feel pretty cool, i will continue to work on them. maybe weaving illusions once those are tight. gyro whirls are getting easier. i need to work on spinning whirl. i need more 5s in general. i think it's good that i took my game back a bit from the old days & stayed away from 5s, but now is a good time to bring them back.
pixie paradon is another 5 on the horizon & i still have a standing request for stepping butterfly swirl, which shouldn't really be too hard, but my stepping always sucked which stopped me from hitting it.
lots to work on, & it's always a good time.
