Had a session with Cale today and hit some really good stuff that got me excited.

Whirr three times in one run. One on stong, two on flip

Blurry Whirl Bsos with good steps. Think i hit a blurriest in the same run

Inspinning clipper almost bs

Inspinning osis

Stepping has always been a really hard concept for me to grasp. But recently I've been analyzing my clipper positioning and i think I've started to correct the form issue that led to incredibly hard stepping. Stepping is very hard when your clipper is super far out and behind you

I'm really starting to love whirls. I was super excited about the whirrs. A couple weeks ago i never dreamed of hitting them midstring, and bsos on top of that.

That's whats up with me. PLan on attending green cup and the open. See you guys around.

Some highlights for me that weren't on film were Plasma BS, E-Walk, and Pdx Whirl b2b>Barfly b2b>run

Session after school and musical rehearsals, went pretty good

Fusion and Plasma BS again

Blurry Whirl>Handcatch>Rpt a bunch of times.

Blurry Whirl and Blurriest Bsos in one run

Pdx Whirl x9

Plasticman, it's been a while.

Paradon>Blur>Rpt>run

Flip Food a couple of times, first time. Almost bsos starting on both sides.

This session was really about working my stepping and cleaning up my form a little bit. I was able to make my flip blurriest's deeper by straightening my back and keeping myself centered over the bag, which led to my hitting of it and blurry whirl bsos in the same run. I'm excited to see my stepping set become more usable, and being able to hit things like stepping whirl, blurry whirl, blurriest, all midstring. I'm hoping to play tomorrow and work my toe game some more. It would be cool if i could switch up my sessions to focus on toe concepts one session then clipper concepts the next and so on and so forth. Things i know i need to specifically work on are:

Eggbeaters
Atomic
Quantum
DLOs
more consistent and better form flip pixie
easier fairys

Those are the things that stick out the most to me as being weak in my toe game. Of course other things go without saying like toe barrages and dbl switchovers, but they're not what i want to be focusing on right now. But it would be awesome to dedicate a couple sessions to working barrages, so we'll see.

Thanks for reading this post, why not holla back?

Eoghan

(And i guess I'm posting in my blog again)

Oh yeah and one more thing, space swords is totally canceled.

sweet highlights yog. i think people will comment more if you keep updating, cause then its always high up and hard to ignore.

two things that you should do more of/try in order to strengthen your stepping:

stepping ss whirls
try blurrier! you so can. (wait, did you? i forgot)

well play again as soon as im not loaded with homework/have recooped feet =]

Yeah i agree, and i haven't hit blurrier yet, but soon, soon.

Had a sesh after rehearsals today, worked mainly form and consistency for pixies. A cool drill i hit was Magellanx2>PLOx3>Rpt. I found out after some self analyzing that i was setting my pixies a fraction to the side of me, and that i wasn't centered over the bag for the entirety of the set. There's a point during the set, right when i flick my foot to get around the bag when i lean out and away from the leg, making it less consistent, harder to play out of, and more awkward looking then it needs to be.

Some things i hit other then lots of pixie shuffle:

Paradon>Pdx mirage>rptx3

Smearx3 bsos

more blurry whirls to handcatches

stepping ss clipperx3 both sides, it's hard to keep myself centered over the bag on my flip, it feels awkward and like I'm losing my balance, but I believe it's improving, and that it's now better then it's ever been before.

One major thing I'm trying to work on, ARMS.

I'm trying to hold my arms a lot more relaxed. It's interesting feeling myself putting a conscious effort into keeping my arms relaxed and with minimum movement. A cool way to imagine it is imagine you're sitting in a chair with your arms resting on the armrests, and just try to adopt that position and same level of relaxation in your shred.

That's it for now, if anyone can give me some balance tips for keeping my form good on stepping stuff that would be nice, but otherwise thanks for reading.

I don't think you need to worry about your arms unless they start going above your head or way behind you too often. Especially at this level. Your style is progressing nicely - you don't have much to worry about.

You said a few posts back you had a revelation about stepping, which was keeping your clipper closer to your leg for the set. I challenge you to 100 clippers both sides on video, as close to your leg as is comfortable (even slightly uncomfortable). Also make sure you have a hop and that your body goes back to a normal position after each clipper. And don't do any more stepping until I see this video. :P

I say this because your stepping is like my least favorite part of your game, and I think your clipper form would probably fix it. Everything else is really nice. You just have a kind of weird hesitation on your stepping that should not be there. Watch a lot of Dave videos.

You're getting really good, keep it up.

edit: haha, I didn't even read that last line that was asking for tips on balance and stepping.

For balance - just stay on your toes and a tiny hunch in your back. Keep your arms to your side, but don't think about them. I think fixing your clippers would really help.

Damn son, that's a hella clippers! I did some more stepping today, but i hadn't read your post yet so sorry, but your request sounds like an awesome challenge. I'll get right on it. I'll see how close to 100 i can get tomorrow, and then I'll start drilling over the next couple of days. If i can't already hit 100 ss clippers then i should be able to by sunday with enough practice.

Anyways lets get to some highlights for todays 50 minute sesh.

Dimwalk>Stepping far legover>Plo>Rptx3. I felt really good about this as i had another stepping epiphany (so many....) but i realized that one of the reasons my stepping is so hard and inconsistent is because sometimes i don't jump with the set, i wait till i plant then fling my leg around the bag which makes for a really clunky and sloppy looking step. I'm working on "floating" on my toes more, my meaning being that I'm working on being more bouncy and fast by standing on my toes more then usual. I felt a difference today specifically in my toe game after making this adjustment. It's funny how I'm coming to "revalations" about my form when the solution to my problems has been sitting in front of me in videos of Vasek and Dave i could study for about a year now. Isn't interesting how we don't seem to really notice things until we're actively looking for them?

Barflyx4, this made me happy

Flip pixie felt good today, mostly due to staying on my toes more.

That's pretty much all i have for today, but this was a short session. I'll see what I can do for the 100 ss clipper challenge tomorrow.

Peace out

I didn't mean 100 straight up, you can keep going if you drop. Sorry if that was confusing - the form is what I'm most picky about.

props on barfly x 4.

Wow just read what i wrote earlier and it makes no sense. Here's my real highlights for today

50 ss clippers on strong with good form

34 ss clippers on flip with good form. It's funny, i found my rhythm about halfway through around the 25 mark and started feeling good, little did I know I was unconsciously traveling backwards with every hop/set of the bag. I ended up crashing into a fold up table and stumbling. Twas ridiculous.

64 legovers, proud of this one.

That's really all i had for this session that really stood out. I realized towards the beggining of the sesh that I had never drilled clippers before this way, and that may be why I've had so much trouble keeping them consistent. I've always been relying on my natural crank to just catch the bag no matter where it was, and always holding the delay for way longer then I needed to. I feel really good about where I'll be if I keep drilling my clipper form for the next couple of sessions. I think it'll really make a difference.

On a different note....

I'm worried about Cale's knee, i was hoping it would start to get a little better by now, but he says it still hurts a lot. It's either a really bad sprain, or he tore his ACL. I went and hung out with him today which was fun, did some juggling (which he's gotten really good at) and watched some Friends. But again his knee worries me. If it's a torn ACL then he's going to be out of footbag for a while, and I hate to see him sidelined so often. It's crazy how he always comes back from these injuries though. Cale's got to be one of the most resilient footbagger's I've ever known.

Anyways, regardless of what's wrong I know he'll eventually heal and be back in the game. So that's good.

Alright, I'm off to go read some more Dune.

Ok had a sesh today and made two films. One is the 100 ss clippers vid for Zac, the other is the rest of the highlights from the session.

Here are the highlights first:

Whirr bsos

Pixie DLO bsos

Gyro Legover bsos

Pdx Whirl x13, 14ish

Pdx Whirl>Blender>Infinity>rpt

Barfly x4 again (yay)

Ducking Osis>Ducking Clipper>rpt

All this stuff a more (i think..) is on the video.

First vid: 100 clippers both sides for Zac. (If you aren't Zac Miley then you should watch the other vid first)

Rest of the session. (use the link and watch it in high quality, it's the best quality video I've ever made!)

I'm really liking where my style is going, it's the first time I've ever watched myself play and been alright with the way my game looks.

Would appreciate feedback, thanks for reading.

Till next time...

I really liked the video. Its hard to find fault with your style or trick selection. I was gunna say use a certain trick on the other side then literally moments later, there it was. The only thing that I could maybe say is less bops, but it looks like you're already making a transition.

It looks like you're on a very good track!

Someone likes Lonely Island. Haha, booooiiiled goose!
I think I've said many times how immaculate I think is your style. I don't see the change that you seem to have noticed, but I do notice the upped difficulty. Very cool. I kept waiting for whirr and rev whirr both BSOS! Do it up! I particularly liked the smog for some reason. Also your double downs look rad. Way too easy :P Love your game man.

this is owen we call him Yogan for short.

I really liked the video, and the song. I love lonely island. I was actually gonna use this song for a video. But I dont have a camera so dont feel bad about using it.

Your style looks really good, I dont know what your beef is with your own game. I know that everyone is their own worst critic.

I didnt see any flip swirl.

edit.

I also meant to say, I kept waiting for someone to run into you/infront of you on the track.

Also I watched the video again when I got home from work, and it inspired me to go have a session today.

3 minutes video after 100 clippers both sides? Great job Eoghan.

Your form is better on your strong side than your flip. Make sure you come back to a neutral position. Clippers are looking better though.

And your strings are also looking good. Wonderful Barflies.
