I'll ask if Jeremy can provide any information since he sees the Chaos crew regularly.

I can provide a sofa, an air mattress, and a futon pad.
I know steve's place is already pretty packed up, and the other freestyle dudes seem to not want to ask their parents...
jeff, cale, yogan, welcome to stay at my place in mountain view, and i will be cruising around in a pimpin minivan from oakland to steve's for freestyle and chillin, and wherever the fun is happening.

I am unaware of a host hotel...

it's true, many parts of oakland are hella ghetto... i am about 40 minutes away from the event site, in a nice town, about 40 minutes from san francisco as well.

Peter Irish? Has everything now been made out of gold and sold for below market value? Heck yes it has, The Executioner is now in business. This calls for a parade whose main theme is West Side Story.

I have a zero chance in attending Worlds this year, but the Green Cup is calling my name. Mainly because it's green and I assume there will be fashionable cups for me to scope at.

Actually, I've wanted to visit Cali for some time now. Maybe this year might do it for me if the flights are cheap and I happen to want to stay for more than the weekend. Plus, having freestylers playing net is an awesome feeling (I had a taste of it at Hackrifice last year, and I'm hooked!).

I'm stupid with math, so let's say 50/50? 40?

awesome, the past green cups have been some fun, and very well run events. If you get a chance to come and hang out in the state, it is also a good time to visit yosemite. The waterfalls are looking really good right now with the spring melt. Some pictures from last weekend.

Well damn. This event sounds like a really good time and I went last year but I can't say for sure if I'm making it or not. The problem is I might not have a liscence by this time and school/work is definately a concern since I'm graduating in June (kind of a priority). If I do go, I think I'll hitch a ride with Nate Linscott and be a surprise kicker. I don't believe I will compete if I make it.

Hey all,

I want to address the issue of lodging for players traveling from out of city or out of state. First of all, almost all of the net players who will attend the green cup will be housed at various players' houses around the bay area. Many of these players are out of country travelers though and there isn't enough space for all players. We will recommend two hotels, but will not be reserving a block of rooms because we truly have no idea how many freestylers will be attending and how many will need hotel accomodations. That being said, the Inn at Jack London Square was very nice last year. I know cause I stayed there. It is walking distance to the park where freestyle will be held on Saturday and Sunday, and walking distance to the BART transit station that takes you across the bay into SF near Golden Gate Park for Championship Monday.

This info is from the "ANNOUNCE" on .org which will be sent out this week:

Lodging:

Inn at Jack London Square (~$90/room)
233 Broadway, Oakland, CA‎
http://www.innatthesquare.com/
(510) 452-4565
10-12 min walking distance from freestyle site.

Jack London Inn (~$50/room)
444 Embarcadero W, Oakland, CA‎
http://www.jacklondoninn.com/
(510) 444-2032
This hotel is probably more "ghetto" and may be about 20 min walk from the site‎.

Both are affordable and in a "great location close to Lake Merritt (Sat and Sun site) and BART (Bay Area's Rapid Transit, which can get you to San Francisco for the finals event on Monday).

If you intend to stay at a hotel, please let us know asap via the forum page (http://www.footbag.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5385). If enough players express interest we'll work on getting a package deal.

Overall, Oakland has it's ghetto and non-ghetto parts. Certain downtown areas can be ghetto, so if you're a woman, consider not walking alone at night. I've not had a problem since I've been living here though.
