Inspinning

Post by Troyson »

Inspinning
SET > FRONTSPIN [BOD] >>

there are some tricks that i have some questions about...

gyro....do you have to do a backspin in order for it to be gyro? what would it be called if you do a clipper, and instead of doing a backspin like you would for a gyro clipper, you spin inward and then do the op clipper.
Also, if i do an outside gyro mirage would it still be gyro even though it is set from outside? :?

pdx inspinning...when you do inspinning, does the leg that would be pdx change since you are spinning in the opposite direction? for example, if i do a left clipper set back spinning pdx mirage, the leg that is pdx is now my right. If i inspin would that make my left leg pdx, or would it still be my right and if i use my left it would just be gyro inspinning? :?

If anyone has any idea what i am talking about and can clear my confusion please help.

the hardest one is the pdx version :P
actually for spinning pdx changes sides, not for inspinning

Inspinning Clipper Footwork

Post by Not-so-ripped Warrior »

So I've started trying inspinning again, but it's kind of frustrating. I set the bag as if I'm weaving and get my body turning very early, but then my footwork becomes sloppy. I always end up hopping once or twice on the same foot somehow.

How many alternating foot steps are required to rotate your body enough to execute an inspinning clipper?

Also, any other random advice for this trick?? Anything is appreciated! Thanks

Though I can only speak for myself I do Inspinning like this :

- Clipper Set (with right foot)

- First Step "inspinning direction" with right foot

- Second Step with left foot (which I have moved a bit in direction of the inspinning while my first step with the right foot)

- Third Step almost the same as First Step again with right foot and left foot moves a bit again)

- Then I make the Clipper (of course with a slight hop) - with the hop I do also make the last direction adjustments so if I have spinned a bit too much (or too less) I can correct it still with the hop

This works quite well for me though my Inspinning is still far worse than my spinning because the direction is just unusual...

Hope this helped a bit and if anyone has an even better explanation (or a better way to execute Inspinning) please share I would be delighted to learn it even better :D

This comment right here is making a HUGE difference in my inspinning. Before I would set then place the clipper foot and begin my spin with the opposite foot. So you basically just saved me a whole step :).

Thanks for the response Torn. It sounds like we each do 3 steps with some sort of hop-on-one-foot at the end. I'm glad I'm not the only one that does a hop.

I also checked out the inspinning video in the Anz's Tips collection. He does them really well and although the vid isn't incredibly thorough I think I learned a lot just by watching him do them.

Still, any more tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm really glad to see that my explanation has helped you with your inspinnings ;) Actually I think that inspinning should get an extra add for unusual direction :D

keep shredding ;)

Ok here's my breakdown on inspinning...the most efficient way.

Firstly, when you set the inspin, you're going to want to hop with your setting leg, angling it towards the spin, it's a small movement but it makes all the difference.
This does not count as a 'step', it's just a minor adjustment.

So, now if you were to do a same side component (ingyro) you plant ONCE with your setting leg, follow through with the spin, then land the move without planting again.
So there is just ONE plant, with your setting leg.

But if you do an opposite side component (inspin), there is ONE extra plant. So, hop with set, plant setting leg, now as you're following through with the spin you should be planting your support leg (the one that would be doing an ingyro trick), which leaves you ready and on balance to hit whatever move you're going to do; remember to always be following through with the spin.

There are only TWO plants on a full inspin. If you don't do the second plant, your support leg will be stuck in the air until the end of the move and you will be forced to make an ugly impromptu plant if you want to hit anything other than clipper.

What I have outlined is the proper way to inspin. And by proper I mean the easiest and most efficient.
Oh, and I still have trouble with the footwork on my flip
So to myself and everyone else, practice practice practice!

i've hit 8 b2b inspin clippers so my footwork seems to work for me.

right foot set> stomp with both feet> pivot off right> pivot off left> clipper

inspired by Ricky Moran I also do a no plan inspin. ie right foot clipper>spin about 300 degrees on the left foot> land the move. but thats more for style than ease.

hmmmmmmmmmmm... well i guess if u are struggling than someone elses way will work but to me the PROPER way to do it is what FEELS easiest and most effiecient. nobodys gunna call your inspin the! and thats why I do it a lot :D

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I think I'm ready to give this concept another go. Hopefully it will be less frustrating now :!:

Thanks for the tip Nate, I remember seeing video of you hitting a bunch of inspinning clippers in a row, so you must be doin' somethin' right.

Alrighty, I'm off to shred :)

Just like ballerinas, by spotting the bag you avoid dizziness.
