obsessed with footbag?!

I've not been playing long (about a month and ahalf I think) but it has already got to the point where I struggle to think about anything else, it's even starting to mess me up at work! Anyone else have this problem? I feel gutted if I can't find the time to play for atleast an hour a day, and when I'm at work I'm either on modified or watching vids on YouTube, it's taken over my life!

remember this phase - it's one of the most fun times of playing footbag ever.

also, use the energy from this phase to help you.. you'll find all sorts of advice on this forum (practice both sides, posture etc.) and the obsessions fuels you to be able to play so much longer.

you know you're obsessed when you "shadow" tricks in stores and in public etc.

My desktop and shelves are cluttered with 32-panels.

Whenever I'm waiting for a train or bus, I always air shred and imagine what I can do, what I can attempt and what will challenge me to get better. Sure, in my experience it looks better in my mind than it does in actuality but once you achieve something out of your obsession it's a worthwhile feeling!

Thanks for the support guys, atleast I'm not the only one! I find myself sneeking off upstairs at work for a quick shadow practice when it's not to busy, practicing drills I've just thought up! My housemates think I'm going mad!

thanks for the link zeke, found myself ticking off the things I do myself! At the moment I think I find it harder to not play than play. I had to try hard to stop myself from playing today since I've tweeked my hamstring and wanted to rest it. Almost gave into the thought of a light session but knew it wouldn't have ended up that way!

I hear you bro. I've been hopping around on campus, sometimes in dress shoes, trying to dex an imaginary 32 panel. In the last 3 days spent in the city I've put in about 9 hours of shredding and am always trying to get more.

Getting better slowly, that psyches me out.

EDIT: Apology if I'm reviving an older thread, just thought I'd also nod to the general "obsession" thing.

most of the people have all said that they have gone through this stage, and i have to admit i have found myself doing that shadow play.

my qs is how long does this obsession last?

and when it fin, do you find alot of people quit footbag?

Good to see this topic is back from the dead! The obsession is still going strong for me even after injuries and heavy work loads meaning I can't shred as much as I'd like! It hasn't stopped me thinking about t all day and then dreaming about it at night!

whether you stop when the most lusty part of the obsession is over depends on why you play.

Also, the obsession never really goes away for a lot of people. It's just that it's not practical to play 6 hours every day when other life comittments start becoming important to you too. But you can strike a nice balance.

Too true. I had to cut back on playing last year, but now I'm even busier than I was then and I make time to fit in what's important to me, i.e. Footbag.

I knew I was obsessed after the first few months, every time I saw a sign for an ATM machine I'd see it as ATW and shadow the move. Waiting in line I commonly practice swirl or other movements and get the strangest looks. Then I randomly pull a bag out of my pocket and hit that trick, resulting in even stranger responses. Good times!

My obsession for footbag used to be way more intense, but I still carry a footbag around at all times and I still think about how sweet it feels to shred.

I should play more..
