I'm not sure if I should say anything in that topic or not, I don't want to put the media company off.
Anyway it sounds to me like a shit deal except perhaps for somebody who has never done any footbag demos and wants to start. The only benefit you could get from this is being able to put it on your resume - but if you've done a few other demos I doubt that would make much difference.
If they want serious footbag then they need to be offering some kind of money and since they're not, and they don't seem to mind about skill level, it sounds to me like they've never seen freestyle footbag and they just want some random guys kicking in the background. I doubt this would be a any kind of promotion for footbag or useful to the person/people involved.
I know lots of people get excited about being on TV, so if that's you then definitely do it. If it were me I'd apply, but also ask a bunch of questions. I never turn down demos, paid or unpaid, that I think promote freestyle footbag, but I regularly turn down ones that I don't think do at all (unless they're paid and I need the money).
Of course I might be making a lot of unfair judgements, so for UK footbaggers I'd definitely recommend applying and asking questions, rather than not being involved at all. I guess I'm just saying try to find out what you're getting yourself involved in before making any commitments as I have a fairly large amount of experience doing demos and performances with footbag over more than 5 years and this one doesn't sound very appealing to me at all (if I lived in London).
edit; Just a little bit of context - if I were going to do a footbag performance for a typical music video with one day shooting somewhere nearby (ie. not having to travel a long way to get there) then I'd expect to be paid a minimum of around $1000 AUD - which would be a very low amount - industry standard for an actor or performer would be more like around $2000 to $5000 - which would be around the amount I'd ask for to begin with. As I said earlier, if it was promoting freestyle footbag, I'd end up being happy to do it for nothing, but it's obviously not in my interests to say that. Obviously this might not be a typical music video - it might be some small independent band making their own video or something - so you can't jump to too many conclusions this early.
Of course it depends on what you're actually doing in the video, and if they're not prepared to pay you, it sounds like you'd be doing very little.
I'd also want to know what the song is, and if the footbaggers they want are perpetuating the stoner hippy image of hacky-sack I would seriously consider whether it would be good for the sport to be involved or not. I'm happy to do promotions that are "footbag neutral" if I'm paid. Happy to do promotions that are "footbag positive" regardless of pay. Have never done a demo that is "footbag negative" regardless of pay.
