trouble setting bag straight up

Post by johnjamieson »

when I toe stall it to do leg over i find it very difficult to set the bag straight up perfect. the bag drifts forward when i set it and in order to dex the bag for the leg over requires me to reach out with my leg. The only time I'm able to do the leg over perfectly is when the set is straight..

Probably the most important thing to do is practice. I think most people have the same problem when they start and it takes a little bit of work to be able to set the bag where you'd like to.

To give you a little more specific advice that might help, although I suspect I might be telling you things you already know, try to keep your toes pulled up - don't point them as you release the bag and set by lifting your knee up while trying to keep your foot going up and down over the same position. This means you're bending your knee and pulling your toes up more as you're setting the bag.

Good luck :)

Try aiming the bag towards your face. Bag will go up instead of forward.

i actually found it a bit easier to set from an inside stall than a toe. is there any downside to setting from an inside?

Yes - you can't do any toe moves!

It's clearly best to learn all stalling surfaces and moves. Cutting things out, especially the crucial basic tricks, because they're hard is a terrible strategy. I try to spend more time working on the things I'm not good at then working on the things I can do well.

Toe delays are probably the most important thing to learn in footbag.
