I have had two short sessions in these shoes and they live up to my expectations. They are very stable. The first day they felt like new shoes, the second day they felt great. The toe box works for any size bag depending on how you lace them up. The clipper is awesome. I can feel the bag with no problem. The difference between the canvas and the mesh allows for a defined clipper stall. There was no problem with setting the bag from the toe or the clipper. I put in my own insoles and laced them up with a lacing style that I am comfortable with. Those are about the only choices you need to make. The shoe is designed for most lacing styles and the the usual mods are already made for you. No need to weaken the structure or stablity of the shoe. I plan on putting these shoes through the guantlet. I am ripping parts of the shoe to find any weak spots or areas the wear quickly. I am confindent they will pass these tests as well. If you see me in these shoes and they look thrashed, dont worry. I mhave to know that these shoes can take all the punishment that a shredder can put them through. I hope this review helps. I respect your post about making this Nucleus shoe "going through the gauntlet." However, Richard, I'm curious on what further mods you plan on doing with these shoes, and I hope you do two separate tests with the Nucleus shoe: one with a pair without any mods, and one with mods.

On the topic of mods, the only two "main" modifications is cutting off the toe walls and making a "Brocka mod" (cutting a portion of the inner ankle support off of the shoe). I suppose removing any further material from the surface areas of the shoe - toe, inside, outside delay areas - can be utilized, but I don't have any further visual knowledge of the shoe (aside from the inside/clipper with the mesh provided by Queency). However, I trust in your judgment and will wait patiently on your (or any other testers') review of the shoe.

We have a decent amount of people that gave their feedback to us in regards to playability of the shoe at the Vegas Jam. Few minor designs were corrected since then; mainly removal of the canvas under the mesh and widening of all stall spot areas but other than that, we were able to see people playing in the shoes before we made any adjustments.

Other local people in San Diego that have tried this shoe are not members of modified but their reviews have been positive as well. This shoe was brought to various people who tested the shoe strength by manually attempting to twist, break in half and pull apart. Few other local people who work from name brand companies also had their own special testing for the shoe. In addition, we also invited people from other sports such as the skateboarding community to see if the shoe can stack up to their needs and so far, all potential problem areas have passed without the shoe being so bulky (i.e. toe areas during ollie, flip tricks etc). A lot of these people mainly kick their ball around (rastafarian harder bag) in a circle and the mesh was able to stay in tact without ripping. With the help of all types of people from different sports/specialities and Abshire, the shoe was tested in its true & final form and was able able to pass various tests. All testing for the product as is (without add'l mods) has been completed and forwarded to the manufacturers. We are confident that we are offering a quality product for the community. P.S. here are some final pics you haven't seen. Instead of having a basic cardboard-feel insole, expense was not spared and we included as our basic insole, one that was designed to absorb impact to save people ~$20+. The top of the insole has smaller circles and raised areas that feels tempur-pedic. I've had a few people comment that it feels as if "your feet are being massaged" and the dense rubber/foam material helps add to the "shock absorbent" feature players need to preserve their knees and joints during high impact activity. Please note the bottom of the insole; gray heel picture states "Shock Absorb". Hopefully all the features, both internal and external, would appeal to everyone as a quality product.

My main concern is how the shoe fits, and that is what is keeping me from pre-ordering. I would like to get an opportunity to fit my feet into a pair to judge on how "snug" I would like my pair to be, which is how I usually shop for shoes in stores.

Shoe sizing is what we are also trying to be particular with. The manufacturers reassured us that it would be a "true fit" according to U.S. standards. Please help me understand what went wrong w/ sizing for other shoes so I can relay this message to the manufacturers and alleviate any of your concerns. The manufacturer we have used is the same manufacturer used by other top name brands in the stores so I'm not worried that this would be a problem. The sizes will be guaranteed on a pre-order basis and we are going to allow exchanges for different sizes if it is a problem, for those who have pre-ordered. A vast majority of the current pre-orders we've received have been from European countries. Hopefully the number per size we will have for the US market will be sufficient. Everyone can post their shoe size so we can guesstimate the appropriate break down of how we will have manufacturers divide sizes but please note, only pre-orders will be guaranteed their sizes-rest will be on a first come/first serve basis.

Also, we've been talking to a few key people to arrange a large event in San Diego and we will simultaneously have a photo shoot with a few of my female models, former Charger Cheerleaders etc. that have surprisingly shown an interest in learning footbag. Everyone will be invited. I don't have all of the details yet but I'm still working on different ways to cross promote this sport with other sports, events, organizations and/or products. I'm also still trying to know diff people in the Footbag Community, their backgrounds, past involvement with misc. things for different stages in this project while helping the sport to become more mainstream. I have collected a database of who's who: people's interest, background, degrees, age etc. so in case something pops up, I will be able to utilize different people as resources and be able to provide people that are involved in some way, opportunities and contacts that may/may not help them further their career. (Any info in regards to this will be very much appreciated!-just pm me). Being a newbie, I'm just very excited to be a part of this and the Footbag Community in general.

The mods that I have done in the past don't really work on this shoe. It doesn't need them. The mods that I am talking about are testing mods. I want to find out how long the structure will last if the shoe is almost destroyed. I have seen how hard most of you play. The shoe takes a beating. I want this shoe to be able to take more than you can dish out. I tried playing in my old shred shoes, they suck compared to the Nucleus. Hope this helps, Richard Abshire

Hello everyone!

(Haven't been on here for awhile due to ongoing family crisis)

Photos of the nucleus-black version are almost ready. I had asked the manufacturers to send pics with black laces versus white. If they email me new photos within the next few hours, I'll post them up. Also, can people email me what their US sizes 6-13 and what your feet measurements are in centimeters in length from tip of toe to heal according to the inside fit of your shoes? centimeters from outside length of sole, AND from outside/lateral of the base of your pinky toe to outside base of your big toe to give me an idea of width of feet??

If there is a need for extra wide shoes, it would be nice to know ahead of time. I just want to make absolute sure that the manufacturers adhere to US sizes for a true fit.

Questions for Richie:

Does the bag roll around a lot in the toe box during stalls? Like, does it take a while for the bag to secure itself in one place on the surface?
From the pictures, it seems the toe box is rather large, but the toe walls are low and short (i.e. stops way before the strip around the toes). It looks like toe box rolloff (esp. sides) would be a problem. Can you comment on this?

How is the shoe for 2-bag (3-bag?) juggling? Are you able to stall in the same spot on the toe box every time and does it set/roll off the foot predictably during juggling?

Have you tried playing in them using larger bags (i.e. 2.5-3in diameter)?
Can you comment on this?

This is coming from a complete novice, so I may not be having the same concerns about durability/sole/toe/clipper surfaces as some of the advanced players, but - based on what I've seen on the website the shoe design is very impressive. I will be ordering a pair in the near future, as soon as my current pair of lavers dies out.

It's nice to see a shoe that comes with all the right mods already done, so I hope it will stimulate the learning process for new players, such as myself.

The toe box is about the same size as other shoes used for footbag. As for bag roll, the seam that gets in the way has been moved up and out of the way. This will make the area more stable and flat. The size of the bag can be a factor. That is why the toe box area is mesh and very flexible. When you curl your toes up the pocket will get deeper and keep the bag centered. Hope this helps. im a prospective size 13 buyer... just need to make some cash. will there be pairs for viewing/sizing at the u.s. open? i think that would be a very good idea and opportunity to get national exposure, even if there was only a pair or two of each size. im 200% more likely to buy a pair if i can try them on first. its great to hear that exchanges are a consideration, as ive been very upset at buying shoes and having them not fit in the past.
