also. due to a cancelation there is one triple or double (not sure) left at the footbaggers-only hotel East Side City Hotel!

So I have a question:

Are there any penalties for pre-registering (competitor), pre-paying, but not being able to make it for check-in? I think that some of the Japan crew including myself won't be able to make it until around the 20th or 21st...

well, at check-in we check if people are actually gonna compete in what they signed up for. so if youre gonna come later write me an email beforehand (not a modified pm) saying when youll arrive and in what events youre going to compete 100%. no penalties for that of course

Not to be a dick, but 90 euro for the competition fee?!?!?!

Man, you guys are breaking my balls here, I don't care about some planet footbag shorts or a T-shirt, but I'm forced to pay for them to enter the competition? Or is it that the fee was so high you felt you had to put in some random stuff to appease the people who can't find a reason to pay that much?

I'm not trying to be confrontational, but I am very upset because I was just about to buy my tickets, but I don't know if I can handle that extra $130 american or whatever it converts to, it may have pushed me into staying here for fear of being homeless when I get back.

2 pages ago, amongst other things, I wrote:3) 90 euros is a lot of money. we are very aware of this. but remember, with exchange rates from two years ago, it actually is about the same as it always was. with the crisis and the exchange rates i'm sure it feels like twice the amount now, especially for NA players. this is very unfortunate, but there is not much we can do about it.

just a reminder. for the same price, in the last years you got:

no lunch, or something really horrible.
no breakfast
no drinks or sometimes bottled water, water from the bathroom 250 meters aways in the catacombs of a stadium
no fruit or 1 apple.
no crowd/ audience
virtually no playtime in the media
no music for shred
no event locations all within less than 1km.
no disciplines included
... can't think of more now.

you'll get:

lunch for six days,
breakfast for six days,
water
fruit all day
an actual finals venue, with an actual audience, that appreciates your performance - because we take care, that the surroundings fit. no finals in a horribly lit gym. no club with 300 footbaggers and noone else. this is for both net and freestyle by the way.
djs everyday, so the freestylers won't have to listen to the same ipod or routine music all the time.
no need for public transport
athlethic conditions that our sport deserves.
real parties
high quality event merchandise.
play all the disciplines you want at no extra cost.
more i can't think of now.

if you only paid for the food we offer yourself, that itself would easily sum up to 70-80 euros. every day you would have to take care of finding food and finding the time to eat. so you pay as much as the last years, but you have way less extra costs and way less hassle.

our focus is to ensure a great week for all the participants. for the best of the best as well as novices. of course footbaggers aren't rich, we're not rich either. with the registration fee you are only paying a part of what you get at the torunament. most of what you get is financed from other sources.

sorry to be literally repeating myself, but i do want to make sure you read this, before i may go deeper into explaining things.

i do have to point out again, that i assume you were aware when looking for tickets, that you would be spending some more money on your trip: for food, for accomodation, and many other things. parts f what you would be spending on food, we're taking care of for you (normally you'd easily spend 10 euros a day for breakfast and lunch - you won't have to at our tournament ( so lets say this food part alone is worth 60 euros.) the tournament tshirt has always been included in the fees at worlds, count iin another 10 bucks for that. that leaves what? 20 euros? i wouldn't consider that super-expensive. and even then: the fee technically is the same fee it always has been, just that unfortunately americans nowadays get fucked by the exchange rate.

if you're on a tight budget (most people are, and i am too when i go to footbag tournaments) we do offer two things that aren't offered always:

a gym accomodation, that cuts out all the luxury and gives you most bang (sleep) for the buck. 5 euros a night for accomodation in one of europes capitals seems like a fair deal to me.

also, we offer players to work a shift in the team and to be refunded 30 euros of your registration fee for a six-hour shift. thats definitely not a great hourly wage, but the work we'd ask you to do isn't really hard or anything, its just things that have to get done. (just to make it clear: we offer you guys to literally get paid for easy jobs while we even ask our friends to work for us for free!)

i am very willing to explain more, or to respond to criticizm you might have. but i can definitely assure you, that our plan is to lower everybodies costs by offering package-deals, instead of ripping you guys off.

i hope that my little explanation was helpful and am looking forward to hopefully have you here in berlin in less than two months!

I'm still reluctant to pay that much, even without the exchange rate. Maybe I'm just too inexperienced when it comes to worlds and fees to compete. I agree that the included food is a benefit, and I appreciate that you took the time to tell me all of that.

If she doesnt want a guest pass which also means free food, free entrance to the parties, shirt and free entrance to the floating swimming pool across the street from the event site she can of course still enter the event site for free.
for the parties she'll have to pay, but thats not gonna be much...

Hey directors team i have a big problem!!!!!!! I fly in on july 9th and have too catch a flight to venice by 12:00noon, I can not bring all my luggage too venice they want 15 euro's per kilo, that would cost me waaaayyyyy too much money. I always donate my time later in the week but if someone could meet me at the airport at say 10:00am and take 1 bag off my hands on july 9th I would be sure too find time to increase my donated time and give them some gas and parking fee's. please pm me or post any other possible ideas. please give me a few days to respond i am not online every day. see ya ted f ps the food thing seems like a great deal.

The players leaflet usually has a small map with the event site and hostels marked on it - please make sure at Berlin it has the nearest and the best kebab places!
(I'd prefer at least five different, but two is fine)
