Worlds - "N.A. electronics in Berlin" help?

Dear Worlds folks,

I have a computer and a camera that I want to be able to use while I am in Berlin. I have done some googling, but I can't seem to get any straight information on what I will need to make sure I can use my electronic devices in Berlin.

Do any of you Berliners with international travel experience know about this? Max, I'm looking to you!

Maybe you can also recommend a cheap pay-as-you-go mobile phone service?

Hey Matt, you can get a prepaid connection, but make sure your mobile phone is either GSM or G3 phone, so you can use it in Europe.
Jay has an adapter for the wires, and you guys share a hotel room so if you ask real nice he might let you use it.

Mr.Cross,

I have two adapters for N.A->German appliances, and if you are using a camera or laptop, they will work fine. The deal is, that on the power cord / charger there is usually some fine print, and it should say 110->220 or something, on there. I'm sure your Mac does, and camera too. My phone, which was a motorolla, worked fine with the adapter in Germany as well.

For phones, yeah, just make sure it is what Anssi said for the compatibility issues. While I lived there, I went to Media-Markt and just got the pay-as-you-go from Vodafone, but it required a $20 activation fee, and then a ~$10 card. So, it might not be the cheapest route.

yo.
the electronic devices work all fine since they switch automatically the voltage (110 > 220 in germany)... you just need that adapter.
you can get a prepaid sim-card for your mobile (be sure it can handle the european gsm frequency) at cheap dicounter supermarkets like PENNY or ALDI (they are everywhere). those are the cheapest and there shoulndt be an activation fee.

but the others did a pretty good job at answering your questions.

macs just have that normal 8-shaped plug that is available for every country. either you'll buy a cable like that or somebody can lend you one... pretty easy.
