I'm not sure a topic on an internet footbag forum is comparable with Michael Jackson's funeral.

The intent of this post was the same as a funeral. Sure it's a lot less formal, but the idea is the same, and what you said was innapropriate given the title of the thread and Nick's words.

After all these posts, you're still not sure?

The topic is "Nick's nod to MJ's passing". The locale of the discussion is irrelevant. I realize we're on the internet lol, but that doesn't seem to be shifting anyone's perception of your character. You're smart enough to see that.

HOLY BANANAS SHUT THE FUCK UP, my brain has leaked precious chemicals going over this entire thread, surely I must be masochistic.

I do believe it is pointless to argue with you Jeremy, regardless of how aligned you are with the truth of the matter (if there is such a thing...). I simple can't peruse these forums in pleasure anymore without running into you bickering over this or that, inserting your own life experience in literally EVERY thread. Hey I've got nothing against you, you just, don't, stop. And your argumentative methods are abrasive and draw ire, how else do you get 5 pages of feces flinging? Oh yeah, you also could have relented. You don't have to put the world in your box. That was not a condescending statement by the way.

Just wanted to get that out, like I said, nothing personal; but I shan't be masochist anymore, not good for the liver...or something.

Ok, let me unreservedly apologise for my comments in this topic. I didn't know that people cared so much about Michael Jackson and I didn't intend to genuinely insult people or think that people would be genuinely insulted by my comments. While I still believe the things that I've written, clearly in hindsight it was poor judgement to say such things in this topic in the manner that I did. I was wrong and I'm sorry.

Edit; and I'd suggest that if people want to respond to this post, or the ongoing discussion that I generated in this topic, they do it somewhere other than this topic. Of course I have no control over your actions, I just hope that this apology can lead to this topic being a place for those who do care about MJ to discuss that and express their grief. Perhaps a mod could split the topic and put my posts and the responses in a separate topic. Until that happens I'd suggest responding with PM or somewhere else.

By the saints! I never thought this day would come. All praise Michael Jackson, for without him this would not be possible. This truly is a glorious day! :D

So yes, his death is a shame, but like said that's a given. The real question, is why did we love this pervert so much? All because of his abnormal vocal range? If you say so..
The more thinking I do on this topic, the worse I feel for Michael. Watching some of his interviews you can see how terribly sad he was, and how ashamed of his failed plastic surgery he probably felt (He denied to the end having any plastic surgery except on his nose). I called him a "pervert" in the above quote from this thread, but honestly he was never convicted and the fact that he settled out of court doesn't prove anything to me being that this was a man who was obsessive about his privacy; and guilty or not, wouldn't have wanted to go through the media glare of a trial with all the implications.

Frankly, I don't think Michael ever sexually abused any children. Why? Because Michael Jackson was the weirdest celebrity in the world, and what's weirder than having a sexual fettish for kids? Why, having a non-sexual fettish for kids of course. I truely think the people who accused him were money hungry, and no matter how odd it sounds to be sleeping with other peoples kid in the same bed, I think he did it out of a genuine platonic love for children.

The only fault I can bring against MJ is how he brought these kids into his life, spoiled them with gifts and attention from the biggest entertainer of the last century, and then just brushed them aside. But most baby boomer's are douche bags anyways who have no concept of how to lead a family or raise children, so it's quite a minor bone to pick.

I agree with this, and it also took me a bit of thinking on the subject to formulate an opinion. MJ readily admitted in his last big public interview with Ed Bradley that he slept with children. He said that they were sleepovers, where he and his friends would hang out.

Now keep in mind that MJ was completely devoid of a childhood, and spent his entire adult life trying to recapture what he never had as a child. So, if what he said was true, then he was simply having sleepovers with his "friends" ie. childhood buddies that he got to know that he never had when he was a child. And he was also extremely vocal about his love for children, and a lot of his more contemporary songs were related to this topic.

The press/parents/lawyers/acquaintances can all come up with their own theories, so why should we believe one theory over a testimony or vice-versa. The true proof, if told truthfully, will come in the form of McCully Culkin's experience and shared story, if he chooses to tell it.

Taken at face value, MJ's story isn't incriminating. Should adults have sleepovers with children? Probably not under most circumstances. But you're dealing with someone who never had childhood friends. Who never had the opportunity to bond with peers at that level, and therefore chose to fill a void when given the opportunity.

Well, I think this also gets to the heart of the issue as to why people are mourning this man as they are. It isn't just because he was the greatest performer of the century, it's because his story is a tragic one, and I think a lot of people can relate to the feeling of not having a childhood, myself included.

Streaming the memorial on CNN. There are many others as well. I am at work and this is the first one I found other than TMZ.
