Part 1: Fitness Profiles
Section A: Determine the physical requirements for your sport
You will need to determine the physical requirements for your sport based on the 11 skill related and health related components of physical fitness (Agility, balance, coordination, power, reaction time, speed cardiovascular fitnes, muscle endurance, muscle strenghth, flexibility, body composition). You may need to divide the various compnents further, for example cardiovascular fitness should be divided into aerobic and anaerobic requirements, and muscle strength and endurance may be divided into upper body, core and lower body. Come up with a rating from 1 to 5 for each of the 11 components, along with a brief description as to why you slected that rating for You sport.
You will need to support your ideas on the physical requirements for your sport, either from expert advice and/or library/internet references. Atleast 1 Scientific journal article is required.
You are to include the first page of the article at the end of your assignment. All concepts about the physical demands of your sport should be properly refernced in your report.
3 pages, double spaced, minimum of 4 references.
Section B and C i can do myself.
Part 2 : Sport Specific Training Exercises
Using the Scientific Training Principles and information outlined in class briefly describe how you would improve your physical capacity for your specific sport ( bridging the gap). This is another good opportunity to use your experts and/or internet/library references for ideas.
You must include a Training Program for aerobic and anaerobic fitness training, as well as two other physical fitness components that require improvement. Which other two componets is your decision, however it should be based on the relative importance of that component as well as any areas in which your capacity is well below that required. The Training program should describe a detailed discussion explaining how you would "bridge the gap" to get you from your current fitness level to the
Olympic/Expert level.
In presenting your example activities you should provide both a description of the activity/drill and specific gudelines for Frequency, Intensity and time (duration) and type of activity. (2 to 3 pages, double spaced)
