I leave for Europe in 2 weeks from today. Pretty excited about that. Will get paid around about $2000 in the first couple of days of my trip, pretty keen on that too.
Been trying not to spend any money, haven't spent any money since Saturday, so that's going well so far.
Have not been practicing anywhere near enough footbag, but not really too worried, when I have been playing, I've been playing fairly well. I've been working A LOT, which is why I'll get paid so much money, in a very convenient time.

So as I mentioned in my last post, I've been working a lot of the time.
One of my jobs I work as a tour guide at the Australian Institute of Sport. On each of my tours I give a little demonstration of footbag, so people have some sort of clue as to what it is.
So the other day I was doing my demo for a group of schoolkids, and as I was explaining a couple of the teachers asked the other guides "is this for real...this isn't a sport" and so on and so forth. They were like "well, he's going to the world championships, this is real". One of the girls plays water polo for Australia so I would say that would hold some weight in the "that's not a sport argument".
That night I worked until 11pm at the hostel after starting tours at 8:30 in the morning, I had about 2 hours break between. Fun fun. I was hosted a couchsurfer for the weekend. This guy was from Brisbane, he was a "performance poet" what ever the hell that is. He was weird.
The first night was ok, we just had a glass of wine after I met him, then talked a bit, and I went to sleep. He gave me a lift to and from work, which was good, and I was keen to drink heaps of beer.
Before we started drinking (actually I started drinking during the kick). I had a really good kick with Caroline. It was getting dark, so that affected things a bit, but I was feeling quite strong all around, doing some long runs, and lots of different tricks. Also practiced routines, shred 30 and sick 3, which is good because there's a little tournament I'm going to soon...
So I didn't take into account that not everybody has the same tolerance for booze. He had about 3 drinks, and he starts saying "when I'm drunk I like to recite poetry". He then burst into some sort of stanza about a bird doing something (it was rubbish) and later he says "and I like to kiss people". So at this stage Teigan (my housemate) and I are looking at each other going "what?".
We were going to a punk rock show in the city, so we went to that. And we're walking in and the guy goes "let's all link arms". (When you picture this guy talking, think of the gayest voice you've ever heard, and double it.) So he linked our arms, and neither of us were keen on this and we made a quick escape. Waiting at the bus stop he rest his head on my shoulder and I was just thinking to myself what the hell is going on...
We went to the show, The Gifthorse are an awesome band from Qld, every once in a while I go to a punk show and get really stoked on punk again, and that was definitely one of these shows. Old mate couchsurfer, he was wearing this jacket that was full of crazy colours, and I think a tea cosy on his head. Not a beanie, that looked like a tea cosy, but a cover for your teapot. Anyway, a lot of our friends were there, and they were all wondering who the hell this guy was. During the bands I could see he was pretty much asleep, but then after each band he'd go "yeah, that was great!"
After the show, we went to this party quite close to my house. This party was HUGE. Like, there were two different dance floors, with DJs and lasers, that kind of thing. There were hundreds of people there. The kind of thing that you're meant to pay lots of money to go into....but we just walked on in (we weren't invited in the first place, but being Canberra we knew heaps of people there).
In the lounge room of the party, people were doing lines of coke. We eventually set up out the back, and this guy started kicking around a soccer ball that was in the backyard. I started kicking it with him, then a few others joined in, and suddenly we had a match on our hands. I struggled to deal with the slippery surface/was real drunk, so I fell over nearly every time I kicked the ball. The other team seemed to have many more players than us, but Teigan reckons it was only 3 vs 2. I have my doubts on that.
Eventually I got sick of falling over, so we went home. I was talking to Kate and was planning to go over to her house, and leave my man and his technicolour dream coat behind, but Teigan was not so enthusiastic on this idea, so Kate stayed at my house.
In the morning she gave me a lift to work and I barely said anything to the couchsurfer because I was running late. I was hoping I would be able to get out of tours early, but that wasn't the case. I was wanting to go to see the Raiders play, and they actually won. I could hear the crowd roar as the stadium is right next door. They beat Melbourne...the last time they did that was when I was still in high school, in 2002!
That night I met up with this girl who had got in touch with me through the couchsurfing website. She is French, living in Canberra for the next 6 months, and she bodyboards too. We went and had a couple of beers at the cafe just down the road. She had a really strong accent, so I couldn't understand about half of what she said.
One more week of work, and I will be off. 8 days til I leave. Will be spending the weekend in Sydney before I go, just booked my bus. It leaves at 4am.
I haven't really started packing yet. I guess I will get into that in the next few days. I did succeed last week in my goal of not spending any money apart from my rent. Pretty stoked on that.

So I have begun my holidays, I fly out on Tuesday and that's pretty exciting.
Yesterday at work they through a party for me. I did my routine first up, the floor was quite slippery, and I ended up having 7 drops which was quite frustrating. Beforehand in practice I hit it with 2 drops, a much more preferable number, both those drops were in the last 15 seconds as well. I started thinking "here we go, dropless routine" and of course, I dropped it.
So anyway, there were only about 6-8 of us there, but they provided 2 cases of beer and 2 bottles of wine, of which there are none of left. People kept being like "let's go out" and I'd be like, "when all this is done". There were a bunch of Americans staying to, so we had some drinks with them as well.
I was originally planning on catching the bus at 4am, but a curve ball got thrown in my plan when this girl Sanna who stayed a few weeks back rocked up. I had booked myself into room 101 (not to be confused with Orwell's 101, this room is probably the best room in the hostel).
So we went to bed at like 2am, after starting drinking at 3pm, pretty long session. 3am came around and there was no way I was going out in the cold to catch a bus when I could be cuddling up to a cute Finnish girl instead.
So in the morning I went to the Greyhound counter and I had to pay for a new ticket, but it only cost $20, I didn't care, it was the right choice, and I don't really know why I didn't just do that in the first place.
I felt pretty rubbish on the way up, but I got into Sydney and checked into the hostel (for free) and headed up to the kick, which was already well underway. There was a great turnout (Max, Andrew, Dyalan, Ian and a new face, Ryan). Warming up I was not hitting much, but I was keen to get into the circle, so I did that. I played ok, but no particular standouts.
At the end Max hit alpine stepping ss whirl and Andrew hit alpine blurry whirl, so I thought I'd try something with whirl and was trying for pixie diving ss whirl. I didn't get that, but I've hit it before...my winning note trick was spinning ducking osis, which was a little disappointing because that's not a particularly hard trick for me.
We went to the Criterion pub for a while afterwards, and saw the back end of a punch up. That was pretty good. I went to dinner tonight with a girl I've been talking to online for a while, it was cool to meet her, and I had a pretty big piece of meat on a plate for $10. I was going to go watch Break Even tonight, but I got there and it's was sold out, but I didn't give a fuck, so soon I'll go to bed.

So tomorrow I leave for Europe. It's a little bit (incredibly) exciting. I have had a really great weekend before heading off though.
Yesterday I had a big family lunch at my Grandma's house. Big feast with plenty of wine, and my relatives gave me various amounts of cash, which was awesome.
Afterwards I met up with my good friend Kelly at her place, then we went over and had dinner with Andrew and his friend Chloe. Somehow the day before it took her about 2 hours to navigate from the Myer to the pub we were at, which was just one block away. Impressive...
Anyway, they were staying at Kirribilli, so we had dinner at a pizza place there. They had BYO so I told Andrew I would buy him a beer as his leaving present. I told him he was only allowed to choose Australian beer, so he had a Boag's and I had a Coopers. Pizza was an excellent choice for the last meal, I was pretty stoked to get to see Andrew again before he left, and also before I left. He has left the task of defending his 2nd place in Shred 30 up to me.... I think he may disappointed with this year's efforts!
Today I had a kick with Ian, we played at the same place as Saturday, but with only two of us, we worked up a sweat a lot faster. We both hit some reasonable long runs and some cool tricks. I didn't hit anything new, but I hit stuff like food processor and bedwetter that I don't hit all that often. Ian's game looked like he had been playing a lot more, and had leveled up on both sides a lot more, so he had some really long runs.
After the kick I met up with my friend Doug, who I used to live with. So I have really made the most out of a couple of days here in Sydney, I don't get up here as much as I used to.
So next stop tomorrow is Seoul, South Korea, then on to Frankfurt the next day. This is going to be so sick.

I'm at the Airport now. My Grandpa, Grandma and my mum brought me out here. I had a great sleep last night, especially considering I was awake at 4am.
The lady in the customs section told me that a receptionist was an "interesting" job for a male.
Everything has run very smoothly so far, I hope that trend continues.

Arrived safe and sound in Germany. Had a stopover in Korea, got to stay in the Hyatt, which was pretty flash. The next day was not as good in Frankfurt, my bed was about as comfortable as a rock.
I am in Heidelberg now, heading down to Stuttgart shortly, hopefully I will be able to get a bed somewhere, as I haven`t booked anything yet.

we saw Rasta Knaxx (not sure about sp?), they are kinda like a German version of Bad Religion, some Dutch band with a girl singer, and another one called Rawside, who are more like an 80s skinhead punk style band (although everyone has lots of hair!)
I went skateboarding, but I have skated inline for most of my life.
Anyhow, I have ventured into my 3rd country on my trip, and am now staying at Flavio's place. Last night we stayed at Tina's place in Zurich, we had one kick yesterday, in the school just near her house. Tina is really incredibly good, and makes most tricks look very easy (it seems they are not).
I hit some sweet tricks, a cool sick 3- phoenix>revup>motion...also tricks like matador and a few others, finished the day with blurry motion.
Today we kicked with more of the Zurich players....Tina, Leena, David and Mario as well as Flavio and I. It was very humid today, it was the first day I thought, oh yeah, it's summer right now. So it was a very sweaty session. I had some good long runs today, no particular big tricks, I hit rev swirl from toe (no plant), was pretty happy with that.
After the kick we moved on to Luzern and had a swim in the lake, this was a great place to take in some of the city buildings and the mountains as well. Tonight we played some pitch and putt golf on some guy's farm, that was pretty fun, and unexpected. These things are what I really like about travelling, just hanging out and doing things I may well do while I am at home, but on the other side of the world.
Oh yeah, just as everyone says, switzerland is very expensive. Last night we went to this vegetarian restaraunt, where you pay per kilo, I was pretty hungry, so loaded my plate up pretty high, it turned out I had loaded up with 45 swiss francs worth of food. Apparently the price was 45 per kilo, so I had a kilo of food on my plate...the food was really good however, so I didn't mind paying, and what kind of Swiss experience is it without paying horrendous amounts of money!
So I am having a really good time, and seem to be going ok for money (+ I will get paid again next Thursday), so all is well right now. Although I am quite sore from the kicking.

So here I am at the worlds, mainly wondering why I am wasting my time online, when I should just be partying or asleep.
We have a pretty sweet room, 8 share room with all footbag playyers. The showers are probs trhe worst I´ve ever been in though, probably saw a lot more male genatailia this morning than I was expecting to. Played quite a lot today, mainly with Matt from the UK and Royfrom Israel, both of them are really cool guys, we are on a reasonably simailar level.
Anssi was hitting some ridiculous shit, gyro barraging legover was one that I saw, then I think he hit the same on the other side. Nice one, governor....
The party tonight was at the pub by the river. It was cool, I got to meeet a lot of people. NOw it is time for sleeping..
