I started with a crappy sewn hacky sack from costa rica but quickly changed because i was having difficulty doing stalls.

i bought to bags, both PANDEMONIUM bags. which are ok for a begginer. cheap and all that.

one was an easy stall, whch a revert back to to practice new tricks (8 panel) and my other is a black one made of lycra!!!! i know insane, it hav=rd to use because it bouncy. but fear not i have just bought my first 32 panel and it in the post as we speak from america!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hopefully will get it soon.............

anyway enough crap, to my progress and what i can do............

ok round to the details.............. (bout time)

i have always been reasonable at toe stalls on my right foot, round the world on right foot, neck stalls, and outside stalls.

now i have started again, (btw this site making all the diff) i have learnt to do the ATW the opposite way to what i used to (i couldnt do this before) inside stall reasonably ok on both feet, wrap around on left foot, (right is proving to be tricky, and very on off. more practice needed.)

also i have learnt the basics of pincher, as in a can get it behind my knee, getting it out and continuing is proving difficult.

my inside stall is X100 better than before, and my inside kicks to. (i know i should have these down already but still im working on it.)

im dabbling with the trick mirage, i can get my leg over etc, it the stall im havin trouble with, i just keep booting it, but i will work on that. though im not that worried atm, because i wanna get my basics down first.

INSIDE KICKS ONLY UP TO 22 WHICH SUCKS I KNOW!!! but that only after a day of trying.

im gonna work on my wraps for the clipper and my round the words.

im off to have a shredding session.

i wlill let you know how it goies.

btw this is my progress after a week!!!!

duno what you think, feel free to send us some advice.

i just finnished my practice session, it went pretty well, i can now say my inside kick total has gone from 22 to 38!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was preacticing my right wraps and they are getting better, not alot but definate progress. i found out that i need to hit a sweet spot on my shoe to make it stick!!!! (not lavers sadly)

i have now started doing lil runs like, serve to toe stall, right wrap to a pop onto the same foot, the ATW, to a pincher. that as far as i got.

sucks i know but it fn when i do it. which not that often.

oh and lastly, i managed to do a leg over for the first time and stall!!!

yey

*Illusion (right side)
*Clipper (left foot mainly, right getting ther)
*Wraps (both sides)
*Pincher (both sides)
*Neck stalls

Based on the number of exclamation points in each of your entries, you seem really excited about the sport. That's fantastic.

There's a lot of good general advice in the trick tips and beginning section of this site. Do you have more specific questions? One of the best ways to solicit advice is to make a video of you playing now. Not only will it give us a better idea of your level, it can also help you learn more about what you are doing right and wrong.

Other than that, some random advice off the top of my head:

1. Find people who are better than you. One of the best and easiest ways to learn, as well as to stay motivated.
2. Master your basic kicks. One of your missions as a beginner should just be to get a feel for the bag, and have a good sense of how the bag moves around you. Kicks are more forgiving than stalls, and mastering kicks will make stalls easier down the line, since you'll have developed better leg control.
3. Try to use both legs equally. Everybody has a dominant leg, but it is really critical to develop a both-sided foundation. It will make your life a lot easier when you move on to harder tricks and combos
4. Filming yourself is a good way to get better. See above.
5. Do your best to go to a tournament, even if you don't compete. It'll open your eyes to a lot of concepts, and should motivate you to improve.

Good luck Morley.

not been able to play much this weekend due to a convention i had to go to, but played on monday night (last night) and did really well with my clippers on my left foot. hit it over and over again!!!! yey

also been practicing my outside stalls, i know really boring to most people but i have not been bothered with em till now, and now i think they are great, i love just flicking it up, catching it and doing that over and over, trying to get asmany as poss. also been trying a few strings like this:

OUTSIDE STALL>SS CLIPPER> SS TOE STALL>LEG OVER> OS LEGOVER> MIRAGE

at this point i usally loose balance or bag falls, but its fun to do that much. i realise its abit basic but it boosts moral when i get it.

qs, does anyone think it is worth practicing with music?

Actually Im quite fond of the outside stall too. It gives beginners one extra move thats fairly easy to learn along with the rest of your basics, and it flexes your muscles the opposite way to clipper / inside stalls so your working your ankles in both directions. Getting a decent set out of outside can be tricky, for me at least, but practice maketh perfectness! :D

I dont know if theres any "worth" in playing to music. If im casually kicking then Ill stick some tunes on. If im drilling though, I tend not to play anything, I dont know what it is but when I hear a rhythm, its tempting to try and play to it (its much like toe-tapping when a good song comes on the radio I suppose). Considering im still learning to find my own "rhythm" with my game, that could be considered detrimental I suppose.

got my first 3 add down yesturday! i was so chuffed! haha it was the butterfly! yey!

i played to music today, i thought it was a lil better because if i got frustrated not being able to do something it diverts my attention. meening i can play for longer, and better, in a better frame of mind.

i just finnished a shred, my clippers are getting really consistant on my left foot. also studied my postion of my stance and tryd to mirror it on my right.

it worked to a degree (in that i got 2 stalls down) but ALOT more practice needed.

sadly got burnt out after 30min, :( i keep getting to hot, does anyone have any suggestions to stop getting so hot?

what is this trick??????????????????????????????????????????

Post by maverick-morley »

was mucking around doing clippers today, not paying much attention to what i was doing, but trying to convert into something when i did this...

left inside stall>ss clipper>op pickup>ss toe stall

so from clipper on my left foot i set waist high and my right leg goes over the bag in>out and stalls on my toe.

what is this? and how many adds would this be?

other than that nothing major.

got a few clippers on my right foot, thanks to the advice from a friend on hear (thanks alex).

but in general successfull session.

location goes a long way on this, but other than that, it helps to use as little effort as possible, and move as efficiently as possible with nice form.

That's a pretty tall order, but if you can move smoothly and quietly and comfortably, that will help.

wow mr cross, an honour you payed a visit to my humble blog.hehe even though that sound sarc it wasnt, thanks for the advice. i usally play inside, sun just drains me so fast.

but anyway, today.

did what you said, mainly with flipside clipper, as anyone who reads my blog knows, right clippers suck for me, but i did what matt said, kinda slowed it down, had a not bothered attitude on(not that he worded it like that, basically used lil effort), but was concentrating on what i was doing.

after a good 20 shadow moves on right clipper, went straight in for the clipper, and low and behold got it first time. woop woop when i meen clipper i meen completly stay, i can do a short delay but i wasnted it solid on my foot.

did alot on my left clipper to, trying to merge it into different things, had a few attempts at butterfly.

other than that it was drills drills drills

toe delays, atw, inside stalls that was bout it, was keeping it simple but getting them down to a tee. and paid off for toe stalls 10fold. really pleased with today...........

didnt play too long today, 30-40min. got burnt out again. driving me insane!!! was praticing clippers today, doing lil strings like: L INSIDE DEL> SS CLIP> OP TOE DEL> OP CLIP> OP TOE DEL etc. pretty easy, but focused my energy on clippers. didnt do much on my right foot. bit stupid.

gonna nick a guy on heres idea to focua on one thing for each day for the next week. bee intresting to see how that turns out.

best thing about today is clippers are getting soooo much better!!!!

havnt played as much as usal, been reading the klouda manual, thourghly recommend it.

played about and hour sunday/monday and today so 3 in total

what i have been practicing is my clippers mainly, for the first time today i was doing continues clippers. only did four but that the first time i have been able to do them back to back. and they were only on my left side.

i got some quiet good lil strings going today to, i took the advice from the manual to relax and just have fun. came at the right time because i have been getting really annoyed because of getting to hot then having to stop!! but i relaxed and i went for longer and played better.

im working on this string atm:

TOE>ATW(out-in)>ATW(in-out)>OP CLIP>FAR PCKUP>OP LEG OVR>OP LEG OVR>MRGE>OP CLIP (repeat)

i can do it all the way through WITHOUT the farside pick up reasonabbly well, but it something im working on.

also focusing on my legovers, so yeh that what my 3 days have been full of!
