Steel City Freestyle
Met with Matt. Started kicking but stopped because his back hurt.
Highlights:
*super-close about 4-5 times to spinning wauxspin
*weak swirl first try-to left knee pain (guess I know what needs to be changed or avoided)
*super-close to spinning osis-wauxspin
*had one string and it was good and long
Today at work I had to use a whole bunch of Goo-Gone to remove some adhesive from a now-removed, temporary wall. It reminded me of how Nils used this to fix up the sides of his G-Units when he modified them. I propose we name this mod after him.
Good night.

Kicked with Matt at Arsenal park.
Started out horribly after about 12 days of not one full session (just that one truncated 15 minute one.)
Weak swirl is increasingly easy to hit, but it messes my knee up almost immediately. For the rest of the session. Which is annoying.
Sad that I can't make it to Funtastiks. Especially after missing NYFA jam.
Work is hard. Pretty much working three jobs at the moment.
Highlights:
*weak wauxspin
*spinning osis'
*a really nice weak side ripwalk
*simple swirl, bsos
*dyno-wauspin (I love this combo)
*ducking wauxspin
*DSO, bsos
*downtime paradon
*compelled to air shred and school whirls. Perhaps I should do this with swirls as well, or just quit trying them on the one side
*weak twirl-osis
*Matt is learning phasing

Hey, I've been a bad reader lately, and just now noticed your top of page post regarding Nils. I never met him but remember him posting in here, and remember your highlights including him periodically. Very sorry to hear of the loss. I'm assuming that you have not included cause of death for a reason so I will not ask. Again, very sorry for his family and friends.
Sincerely
Sincerely
Bob R.
Hi Bob,
Here are some details regarding Nils and the cause of his passing.

The rewind of Wauxspin would be such a rad set. I want to hit it into a butterfly. It would be almost like a deep pixie (where half the dex is done twisting the hips around the bag, but keeping the bag deep enough that you can wonton the other side. Basically the set would pretty much be the wonton as a second dex, but the first leg would origin of rotation would be at the toe, and not at the body. Yes, this looks doable if you watch wauxspin in reverse, but it would require stealth to crank out the wacky, uncoiling motion. Totally doable. "I want to go to there".
The more I think about it, there is no first dex. It would be a gyro that came just around clipper set on the other side. Basically toe-set symposium surging.
Impossible to describe. But awesome in my head

I had two 15 min. sessions by myself in over the couple of days, in between bouts of rain. If footbag is a major form of catharsis for me, I certainly have not been getting enough of it lately.
I looked at grad schools today. There is at least one that I find appealing. Other than grad school, the only thing I can really look forward to doing in the near and long future is generating my own work for the sake of sales and exhibition. I have been active recently, so that is good. I am getting a bit impatient with myself though and expect to improve my output and marketing.
Cleaned up the house a bunch this week and it's great. Also, I am very excited about one piece I am working on at the moment. Here is a secret, magic link (that I will take down shortly.)

This piece is called "How Many Art Installers Does it take to Screw in a Light Bulb." The piece is generative work and it has no beginning or end. The sound component has not yet been resolved. I would love some feedback
Anyway, I filmed some stuff that I am interested in during these tiny sessions and I learned a whole bunch.
* I need to wait before spinning on my spin-sets.
* I need to get more air out of my wauxspins.
* If I keep my quantum sets close in, and I don't set too high I will be fine. There is also an element of lateral hop that seems to help, especially for toe blurs.
Might kick tonight. Might kick tomorrow.
I have been swimming in stress and humidity since Tuesday and I am having a tough time keeping my chin up, despite the productivity. I may need to further my search for a balance between learning new skills and supporting myself with my work, or consider changes to my lifestyle.
Push-up time.

Kicked with Dave and Jake. Matt kept us company for a bit but did not kick. Dave will be leaving at the end of the week and Jake in a month, so this was a memorable session.
Highlights:
*Jake let loose a bit. Some nice drills etc
*Dave busted as usual, with some creative links, etc
Personal highlights:
*wauxpin-simple swirl a whole bunch of times
*swirl bsos a few times
*a couple decent strings but I clearly need to kick more often

That was a fun session.
Ian, that rake thing you did to swirl was tight.
I'll miss having Dave in the Burgh. That went by so fast!
I hope I come back to Pittsburgh on some future visit and get to eat sushi at Nakama while watching Dave dazzle the South Side's finest with his tricks.

Matt is wrapping long-term project, so it looks like I will be solo-kicking a lot for the near future. I have plans for efficiency. And, I have been reading some great literature.
