Stop using lead you fucking idiots.

Post by mosher »

The thread title says it all.

There are very many very good reasons lead is banned in like every application. We are putting ourselves at risk because we are too lazy to find alternative heavy shit.

So, in conclusion, stop using lead you fucking idiots.

Oh, come on, nothing like a little lead in your system. Puts hair on your cheast! WRONG!!!! I totally agree with Mosher on this one. I posted a MSDS on lead a while back but here it is again.

Lead, material safety data sheet.

Speaking of which, I just ordered 10 pounds of tungsten...

It should be going to Johnny, Waylon, Matt Cross and I.

I just use whatever the customer asks for, and whatever I have in stock.

Luckily, I don't have much lead in stock, and I will be willing to get a shit ton of tungsten to fill bags with once Jay gets that order in.

But non-rusty bags = win in some cases.

ugh, so naive!!

Please go have your dog checked out.

You would probably also say that someone with cancer is fine because they are not dead, right?

I remember reading once that in the days of yore some footbagger had a routine check and found out his system is pumped with lead, therefore switched to tungsten. That is concerning, but not enough to convince me that lead filled bags are absolutely a health hazard.

Where do you get your facts on this matter, Tom?

I can see how lead can be a cause for concern, but I don't think that it poses as much of a hazard as many may think. I've done research and lead does not pose a threat through the Ultrasuede. Since there is no direct contact with the material, it is not being absorbed, consumed, or inhaled.

Lead MSDS:
http://www.sciencelab.com/xMSDS-Lead-9927204
Section 3 clearly states that it is hazardous only upon contact. If you don't eat, open, or repeatedly sniff the bags, you should be fine.

If you don't like lead, don't get a bag with lead in it.

when I handle a wet bag with lead in it and give it a squeeze, a grey / black liquid comes out of it.

So, in conclusion, lead bags are safe, as long as you don't sweat.

And Ban Peanuts also. They are deadly.

If I had a stash of lead shot on me, I like to think to myself "this lead is better off in my hands than inside a bullet." Make footbags, not war!

Not that what I'm saying changes anything, though.

So if I understand this correctly.
When your sweat drips all over the bag, the bag gets wet. When led comes to the contact with the wet bag surface, it releases toxic parts, which are slowly filtered through the surface. Then, when you pick the bag up, these toxic parts attach to your hand. And when you wipe the sweat off your face, you expose yourself to these toxins.

All this sounds a bit far-fetched.
