Hey baggers

So I know this is quite a way off, but I am thinking of traveling to the States this winter. I would like to orientate the trip around footbag but will need to start booking and choosing dates soon, so I hope people will be able to help despite how early this is.

I will definitely be flying into NYC to spend Christmas with my 2 older brothers, who will be traveling around the East Coast at that time, and then was thinking of trying to make it out to NYJ.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can tell me if the dates are set for this comp, and if so what the dates will be.

Also, I would like to try and catch up with the NYFA, and maybe if there are any of those players who regularly attend NYJ, how do you find the best way to get there is?

To answer your question about dates - NYJ takes place as part of Mayor Daley's Holiday Sports Fest - there's more info at that link about the fest, but expect more info about NYJ specifically in the months to come.

I'd recommend flying from NYC to Chicago. While some people drive, it's a long drive, and I think it's a bit of a dangerous drive too in the wintertime. If you fly you will likely get some delays and will be more expensive, but the tradeoff in terms of time and safety is hard to beat.

Drop me an email when you know the exact dates you'll be in NYC, and I'll set you up with NYFA. Do you need a place to stay?

Matt, your past visit to NYC was unfortunate, and I would have invited you to a NYFA session if the matter of communication wasn't resolved in such a poor manner.

And I plan on going to NYJ this year, so I hope to see you there as well.

Ha yes Nathan, when you come from a country with as small a scene as england, any prospect to hang out with a large number of other players can extend to this sort of preparation ha! thanks for the link

Thanks for the suggestion Ken. Yea that'd be sweet, i may be staying in a hotel with one of my brothers, but that may be booked up as im guessin christmas time is bloody busy, so a place to stay may be required, i wouldnt like to take advantage though

They are all wrong ^.^

The only essential places you have to visit are the following:

Missoula, Montana
Portland, Oregon
Vancouver BC
Montreal, maybe shortly Hamilton
San Francisco

Where some offer a great variety of Footbag fun, others offer spectacular nature phenomenon. Just keep in mind, you don't want to shred too hard. There's many things you can do aside from playing Footbag. However, I recommend you not to play only with big numbers but also with the upcoming placers since they're shredlife will have a great impact on the future of Footbag.

Also, watch out. In Montreal it's gonna be superduper cold. Better bring gloves with double layer.

Medium of transportation.
For longer distances it depends the comfort you want to enjoy. While buses are usually cheaper than planes it doesn't mean it's safer. It's a good idea to plan your trip a little bit as people are mostly willing to give you a ride from A to B - they're all so kind!

Maybe try to catch up with people at some tournament. If you need names, places to stay in these cities, I might help you.

unfortunately due to funds and time and the desire to check out the finnish nyj too, i will probably only visit ny (mainly to spend christmas with my brothers) and then chicago for nyj

i definitely hope to see more of canada in the future though, maybe a future worlds in montreal!?!?!?!?
