Hey old friend. It was really good to read this and see that things are going well for you (I did read every word BTW). Do I really need to tell you that you already ARE a good freestyler? I know you know that, but just don't want to say it for fear of getting yourself complacent. I think it's awesome that you have the drive to keep working so hard at it.
Well dude it doesn't look like I'm going to be hitting up much of the tournament circuit next year. We'll see. Without getting too bro-mantic on you I just wanted to tell you that you're still one of my favorite people I've met through footbag, and I hope that eventually we'll get to hang out some more times.
Happy Holidays

(thanks Ben)
So, I'm back from the Vegas Jayum, and it was really what i needed to get my head back into the game like it should be. I played okay for the most part, my half laziness over the winter months, and gaining a little bit of weight didnt really help. But other wise i had a lot of fun.
Day 1: The drive
I woke up around 9 or 10 am and Jim and Dylan were already awake, and pretty much ready to go. Luckily I had almost everything I wanted to take with me to the jam, packed and ready to go. The night before me Jim, and Dylan made homemade burritos to take on the trip with steak in them, and they were really awesome. So we packed those as well as some bread, peanut butter and jelly into a bag and set it aside.
Around 11 or so am Sonny finally showed up and we headed on our way. I have never been to Vegas before or even Nevada for that matter, and had always been told that its super flat, but on the way there, there were mountains most of the way.

It's a good thing there wasnt a whole lot of snow though, as I was used to it, and was hoping there wasnt any in Vegas.
(the snowmans name was Rufus, if you cared)
Anyway, 11 hours later and we arrived at Jeff Overbow's house, greeted by him, his dad and his super vicous dog Daisy. (who was actually quite small and one of the most chill dogs I had ever seen).
So now we were in Vegas and had to start the night off right, so we played Texas Hold em' and Dylan ended up winning with me in second, and Jeff in 3rd. (this was also the night of my birthday.)
Soon after that we played a few games of pool and then went to bed.
Day 2: Daytime Vegas, and UNLV
Day 2 started off good, I woke up pretty early, but as always Jim beat me to getting up, as he usually gets up pretty early.
We played a few games of pool waiting for the others to get up, and at about 11 everyone was awake and ready for the day.
around the same time 2 people i had never met before John(?) and Mike(?), some of Jeffs friends that had recently got into Kicking, I could tell they were in that stage where they were super stoked about hitting new things and wanted to play a lot, which was cool i miss those days. Mike was telling us about how stoked he was to be hitting clippers and couldnt wait until he could land some other things.
At around 11:30 we all proceeded to caravan to UNLV to play some footbag. We were told to be there by noon, and we were, but everyone else didnt get there until 12:30 or 1. But me, Jim, Jeff, Mike, and John started early for something to do. Jim didnt start lightly either, and he pretty much busted all day nonstop for 5 hours or so, it was nuts.
Soon people started to arrive, the first people i saw were Eric Chang, and Manna Mpepo. It was nice to meet Manna, I had wanted to for a while, and It's always nice to hang out with Eric. They soon undressed as well and began to shred. about 15 minutes later the rest of the crew arrived.
and it included Rory, Byrin, Jay, Ben, Bear and probably a few others. Im having a hard time remembering. Fun times were had by all and we basically played until dark. As soon as the light faded I looked across the road from where we were kicking and saw an In- and - out burger! I hadnt had in and out since my first footbag tournament 3 years prior. So stoked, jim, me and Dylan set out and had some of the most bomb fastish food burgers that i had, had in a long long time. and it was worth it.
After shred we all proceeded to go to Evans house where his mom made everyone a spaghetti dinner, which was really awesome. and super good!
I watched Rory spill his all over the table but somehow got it all back onto his plate with out anyone really noticing. We then watched Erics dvd demo which looked fun, and I cant wait to see it.
After everyone had left for the night to go do whatever it is that they did. Me, Jeff, Jim, Sonny, and Dylan decided to go to the strip so we could sight see/gamble. It was really fun and Vegas is definately an adult playground. I didnt spend much gambling, which was good (only about 7$) but we did manage to get kicked out of 3 casinos thanks to Dylans age, and his bad lying skillz.
some of the more memorable things i saw on the strip were.
- the fountian infront of the bellagio, the the eiffel tower replica built into a hotel, ceasars palace being huge, and all of the casinos in general seeming to never end, and being connected to one another.
Another thing, So in Vegas on the strip there are people who hand out all these different "Call Girl" cards, and most of them have nude women on them, and they are all pretty much different. Being the people we are, we decided to collect all these cards and present them to the other players the next day, and ask them if they wanted to play Go Fish. Which was really fun, and Rory had a pretty good laugh out of it.
After the strip I was wiped, after kicking for 4 hours and then walking over a couple miles in the casinos. So we headed back to Jeffs and went to bed.
here are some pictures i took of the strip.

Day 3: More kicking and More in-and-out burger
We arrived at the basically the same place as the day before, and it was slightly less windy which was nice, and people were already kicking. We had arrived a little late that day because we were really early the day before, so we tried to compensate. Jim once again busted all day. And i spent most of the day Kicking with Jay, and rory. Jay is getting stupidly good (and Manna too) and thanks to them im back into trying to get good again, instead of just keeping what i have, which is kind of what ive been doing over the last couple of months. The day ended with Richie's friends bringing over "The Shoe". and a lot of us looked over it. I personally liked them, but thats all im going to say.
Soon after dark the crew wanted to go to the strip again, but I wasnt really feeling it. So instead I went and hung out with Eric chang at his place of refuge and we nerded out on editing styles and footbag videos for a while until everyone got back from whatever it was they were doing ( i think they went to a buffet, but i dont remember where)
Someone came up with the idea that we should broadcast live to modified, and so we did, we had a lot of fun with it, but i think the people watching didnt. One thing that i strongly remember is Byrins gas. Everyone laughed so hard at that for the longest time. That night was so much fun.
Later Ben gave me a ride back to Jeffs house, and I ate some pizza and went to bed.
Day 4: the long road home
I woke up pretty early despite being up pretty late the night before. and someone said they wanted to shred outside on Jeffs basketball court...so we did, and we ended up playing for about 2 hours or something. Dylan spent most of the time trying to hit inspinning torque, and i dont remember if he ever hit it or not. After shred we packed our bags, thanked Jeff and his dad for letting us stay at his place, and started to head on home.
On the way back we stopped in the middle of Nevada, late at night, pulled off the road, and just enjoyed the quiteness and solitude of that area. (plus it was a full moon) around 11 or so pm we arrived at Jackpot nevada (on the borded of idaho and nevada) and Jim/Sonny decided to gamble for the last time before we leave the state. They were in there for a while, and when they finally came out, Sonny had won like 50$ or something which i thought was cool, cause non of us the whole weekend had won anything.
We left Jackpot, and got back home around 1pm or so in the morning. Tired and stoked to be home and not in a car in the middle of Nevada.

Wow its been a long time since ive written anything in this thing. I was going to write a write-up for USO but jay and zac miley have pretty much highlighted everything in their blogs. Ill just post some highlights...
*Not competing that was sweet! Well ill admit i have been VERY lazy for about the last 5-6 months, only playing once or twice a week and not attempting to get better, just "keeping it" but all of that has changed and ive played for about 4 hours a day, everyday since the us open. After seeing Zac matt kemmer play, i knew i had a lot of catch up to do. although i feel like im already a lot better than i was at the us open. very good!
*the free breakfast at the hotel + catered lunches and dinners on the event site A+, the best way to make a footbagger happy is give him free food imo.
*blurry whirl>ps whirl bsos first time i've ever hit that.
*water temple as always
*using reds new camera, that thing is beasty.
*listening to peoples reactions about D.O.T.S., im so happy it was finally finished. Im proud of it.
*getting lost EVERYtime we leave to go somewhere by car
*our adventure with steve goldberg through the bushes of vancouver to find some ice cream. Then telling stories of how we should all pee on the floor of said ice cream place
*45 degree hotel rooms when your sleeping on the floor
*seeing all my long lost friends arrive in front of me at the us open, and exchanging hugs and greetings with all of them!
*kyle hewitts car.....enough said
*watching jeff and aaron wrestle...that kids a beast!! (jeff)
*buying 4kast gear, its awesome, especially the shred shorts.
*red husted, like theres more i could say, but the name alone leaves a pemise that everyone knows and respects. Even though he is a pedo....
theres probably more, but its been to long for me to remember the rest.
all in all, us open has ans will be my most favored tournament of the year.
I want to come back next year and atleast place top 5 in finals. I already have a routine song. and attempted it a few times one of them had 3 drops and <15 bops/ tiltless so i have hope.
I need to post in this shtuff more...
more later....about footbag!

Hey footblog, it's been a while.
Well thankfully i've been playing a large amount of footbag (roughly 3-4 hour sessions 4-6 times a week. And I feel like i have gotten much better
than my previous slump. Mainly I think that i needed the USO to bring me back into that plane of "hey i want to get better and play well". Im not sure
if it was the us open or if it was Matt K. and Zac M., I remember that i used to be on par with them and now i feel like they are leagues ahead of me.
It sucks cause I have been really lazy and the only person I can blame is myself. Oh well, atleast im back on track and i'm getting to the point to where
i feel like im playing at an open level again.
I found a routine song for the year and i have messed around with it for a few tries atleast. I honestly think that if i can create a decent routine now
and practice it all year, ill have a good chance at placing well in the next us open, or the idaho jam (which is coming up sooner than you think), or worlds
(that would be awesome). I cant say that ive ever done well in a routine. The last routine i did was at the USO last year. I did okay (5 drops i think), but
there was a stupid amount of bops and i was playing without contacts. So i know im capable of a good routine.
Footbag in general has been treating me really well here are some highlights from the last couple sessions: (i worked on mostly quantum and flip pixie shtuff)
*Bedwetter bs
*stepping ss eggbeater bs
*quantum butter>stepping op legover>rpt
*quantum mirage bsos
*quantum legover bsos sealed with legbeater>ps whirl
*barrage>paradon>barfly
*plo>egg>rpt
*magellan>ss egg bs (its super hard to flip pixie out of egg for me)
*spinning clipper>gyro clipper>rpt x 3

*whirl>ripwalk>stepping far osis>pdx whirl>blur>toe whirl>rpt
*pixie whirl, pixie illusion, pixie ss drifter, and pixie op drifter all bsosed (seperately)
*vortex again
*mobius bsos
*first attempt ever on my routine after i thought about it all day, 3 drops, 19 bops
*phoenix>blurry whirl>ps whirl

"Flatbread is great i work instead of playing footbag because it is so much better...obviously"~ (thanks Emma)
Also, life outside of footbag is going really awesome for the first time in a while. Im finally caught up on all of my bills (except my student loans),
I have enough money to go out and do stuff everyonce in a while instead of being confined to whatever i can find to do for free. Also i've been eating a lot
better, well... not a LOT better, but slightly better than i was, im slightly watching what im eating now instead on ingesting everything that sounds good.
Although i may succumb to big juds or something tomorrow cause that sounds hella bomb.
also ive found a female friend to hang out with (thus the quote above), and i've been spending a crazy amount of time with her, which makes me happy. as i
write this its 4:00am and she JUST left my house from coming over to hang out tonight.
If jay asks...yeah its that same girl we talked about when we were in the hottub in vancouver. We have plans to go skydiving together and stuff, should be really
fun!
My job still annoys me, i make .50 cents above minimum wage, and I can do everything there, while others who can only perform certain tasks make 2-4 dollars
more than me per hour. I think i just need to man up and ask for a raise, ive been working there for like 1 1/2 years or so now or more, and ive been working
there longer than most everyone there, with the exception of a few people. So i think a raise would be an okay thing to ask for.
recently i went on a trip to south east idaho to visit my dad for his birthday, it ended up being a lot of fun, i played croquet with a lot of old friends and
did some cliff jumping while i was there. Ive got a picture of it somewhere maybe ill attach a few pics. when im done writing. Note to self: use more mosquito repelant!
suckers are seriously huge! They make you feel like, if your not careful that you could be carried away by them. I flew down there for the weekend, it was a 25 minute
flight, easily the fastest flight ive ever been on.
About 2 months ago i found love in playing guitar again, and ive spent a LOT of time learning new songs and writing new songs, its great fun, and an awesome way to kill
time/ impress people. Some songs i just learned are "Swing life away"~ rise against, and "Pressure"~ Paramore just super chill non challenging songs that are easy to
sing too..
well modified its getting really late. so im going to post this, and see you guys tomorrow. As soon as i get a new power cord for my camera you will see some
new JP and ZJ footage.
heres some pictures from my trip, some are like landscapes of where i grew up, and others are pictures of my cliff jumping!

until next time!

ARG lost the power chord to my camera, so i cant record any footage until i get a new one (friday me thinks)
getting a new pair of quantums cause mine are totally dead, not as bad as sam potters, but they are still pretty bad.
Im going to go play on a rope swing thats near my house, but when i get back ill post some pictures of my shoes, and maybe a few pics from me and Jim's session.
I think a blog with a lot of pics all the time would be really cool, im going to work on that, i think it makes it more interesting for the other people reading my blog.
btw Jim sucks at hacky sack.

I encourage you to work on a routine and practice the shit out of it. I didn't start to get serious about routines until last year, and I regret that. Working hard on a routine, and then finally hitting it dropless in competition is one of the best feelings I've had in footbag, and every time you do it it still feels amazing. So go for it.Zeb Jackson wrote:
I found a routine song for the year and i have messed around with it for a few tries atleast. I honestly think that if i can create a decent routine now
and practice it all year, ...I cant say that ive ever done well in a routine.
Props on that one.Zeb Jackson wrote:*motion>blender>rpt

Thanks Ken I will try
So i sessioned last night with my new quantums and had a really good session, some highlights were
*tomohawk midstring first try
*symp whirl, toe whirl, and ps whirl all bsos
*completed a few challenges on my challenges page
*a run with symple pixie, clip set symp mirage, symp mirage, pdx symp mirage bsos
*flip pixie and flip quantum almost feel as good as my strong
*ripwalk>sidewalk>stepping ss clipper> blurry whirl>ripwalk>rpt
*plo>magellan>smear>rpt>plo>dlo>rpt>bunch of random stuff>pixie muted clipper>spinning far legover>rpt>sealed with motion
*motion, pdx blender, blurry whirl, gybas (one side), and pdx torque(once side) in one run
*symple swirl midstring bs (this is the biggest highlight for me, cause for some reason i have a big problem with swirls, they are just hard for me still)
*pixie paradon>run
*random run with some drifters, and a lot of ducking, sealed with mobius
I got pink q3s, cause they were the only ones freedom had in my size. But i sharpied them blue and orange, and they came out looking pretty good:
Before:

After:

Life is in an up and down motion, My land lord hates, me, jim, and zac, so i think in november when our lease is up were going to go our seperate ways and find a new place to live. Zac will be moving in with an austrian friend of ours, and I think me and Jim are going to find another place to live.
Its raining really hard outside right now. First time in a while in Boise it seems...thought i would share that, mainly because I have my windows open, and the smell of a fresh rainstorm is awesome.
The idaho Jam is starting to take shape, Ive been working pretty hard on it, I want to make this a MUST GO event, like events in the past, like SJFF, or CSS, i gotta finisht the T-shirt design today, when i do ill post a pic of it on the Jams thread
thats all for now,
Peace,
Zeb

Man, I miss her so much right now its stupid...
ARG how is it possible to feel that strongly for someone? Like before she left i was like this won't be bad at all...But its been a few days now and i already want to see her so badly!
the coolest part is it was her bday recently and i bought her a pair of quantums, a bag, and gave her one of my shirts. The other day she hit toe stall >op toe stall! (So proud of her!)
In other news, footbag for me is going great, i've gained a lot since the us open, and i feel like im almost at a new plateau. I feel like at this point of my game i really have to think about the movements im doing more than just hucking it and seeing how it goes. If i really focus on something it makes it a lot easier.
Sunny filmed at Alive after five (local weekly concert here in Boise) and i hit some of the best stuff ive hit in a long time while i was there. Hopefully she will get that to me and i can release a video. Also on that day a man and like 10 young men/women approached me and was asking me a bunch of questions about footbag, and it was really overwhelming cause they were sooo interested. It was nice for once being in the spotlight and not in the shadow of the great Jim Penske... It made me feel really good about myself
Other than that not much has changed, ive been working on the Idaho Jam a lot hopefully trying to make it a great experience for those that attend!
If you read this, i thank you
, it makes me wonder if people do...or if im just typing to myself anymore haha.

I never listen to this genre of music really at all. But for some reason i clicked on this song on youtube cause it was on the front page. Now ive been listening to this song a lot, just because its awesome.
Going to "Alive after Five" tonight after work to shred and listen to some music. Not sure what im going to do after that. I'll probably go to the gym cause i havent been there in a while, and i feel the need to work out more
''
ill post later today about how the session went. Also i have a new video coming soon, cause Sunny filmed at the last alive after five event, and i played really good.

So in the last two sessions ive had arguable the best runs of my life. Period.
yesterday (at alive after five):
Blurry whirl x 2> run ending in motion>p blender
Janiwalker> ps whirl> run
(drifter>symp whirl>rpt) x 2
blurry whirl> ps whirl bsos
23 tripless
plus many strings that were well over 30 contacts and did have that many bops.
today:
blurry whirl x3
blurry whirl>infinity>stepping ss whirl>infinity>rpt
blurry whirl>symp whirl>rpt
30 contact dexless run that had gyro clip>spinning clip>rpt, ducking clip>diving clip>rpt, ducking butterfly>diving butterfly>rpt, diving osis and ducking osis bsos and ended on ducking far legover>pixie drifter.
:D:D:D:D:D:D
7 more day until she comes back to visit me!
:D:D:D:D:D:D
the only thing that sucks now is im not going to be able to go to school this semester because of lack of money
, but its okay i guess everyone needs a little break, besides maybe now i can save up a little money and go to more footbag tournaments?
Idaho jam is coming up...I encourage everyone and thier dog to come.
pics of Emma (cause i told her i was going to post one here, so i chose the best ones
