I'm going to hurt myself one of these days

Post by Cass »

If something falls, no matter what it is, I have the compulsion to toe stall it.

This habit has saved my phone countless times, but I fear that one of these days I will catch a knife or other painful object with my foot.

Has this happened to anyone?

Yes. Although, my mind always makes the distinction not to catch dangerous things. You have to love it when your brain makes the right decisions on it's own.

I dropped a knife while cooking once and had bare feet and tried to toe stall it and cut myself a little, but I've also saved countless glasses, bottles etc. so I think it's been a good habit.

I'm sure that if you had a better stalling technique than I do you could toe stall a knife in bare feet without cutting yourself unless it was so sharp that it would cut you just balancing the point on your foot with no fall.

If you can stall a knife you can stall a bag :P

I attempted to stall a falling box of potatoes or something heavy at work the other day, but luckily, the person standing beside me caught it before it crushed my foot. 8O

Cant say ive ever attempted to toe stall a knife but among the weird and wonderful objects I have tried are

:arrow: A torch I dropped (painful :D )
:arrow: A tub of butter (footed)
:arrow: A half kilo of rabbit food (cleanly too!)
:arrow: A six year old child.....

Before anyone comes knocking on my door spouting about child welfare at me, I didnt attempt a literal toss-and-toe stall with my 6 year old, just picked her up and lifted her from foot to foot, but i still think it counts :D

I thought you were going to say;

"Before anyone comes knocking on my door spouting about child welfare at me, it wasn't mine."
