well he doesnt seem to do just blenders, always paradox or food processors, but i feel watching the motion is helpful

he has a video here http://www.modified.in/footbag/viewtopi ... highlight=

and one with vasek here http://www.webslinger.cz/videos/HonzaVasekVez.avi

which are quite recent

edit: and just noticed milan does like 7 back to back blenders in this video right at the beginning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r63I4aC6YyQ

Honza's first combo in the sick 3 that begun with alpine food was pretty awesome, just saying.

YEEHAW I hit BLENDER on video! I saw it frame by frame to make sure I actually dexed the bag, and there it was. I'm reluctant to upload since the stall at the end was lame.
BTW Matt - Takumi has awesome blenders too, he does them allot. When I remembered that I checked out the "worlds high" video. I used to not be a big Takumi fan, but now I really love his relaxed, fluid approach.

Also hit crispy torque, blur, and double switch over and double over down in the same run.
A nice new combo: whirl inside stall->hop over. Should be a crowd pleaser.

There goes my focused training; it was supposed to be a relaxed control session!! :? I was supposed to be doing squeezes & flappers, tops.
Yesterday I had a very focused stepping session, so I guess I go wild because I don't have a concrete plan for my control training like I do for my drill sessions. Kinda takes a bite of my pleasure of hitting blender, knowing I shouldn't have even tried.

I filmed for Jordan's competition. Didn't do so well in terms of hit count, but was pretty pleased with the trick selection. Too bad hit count is the name of the game.

Several days recap:
Thursday - had a morning session, worked on Stepping. Nothing exceptional. That day we had a beach fun day at work, and I got two new girls at the office to kick with me. Was allot of fun. Then had a few runs and got ovations from a gathering crowd. I've noticed that when I play completely solo I rarely attract a crowd. I hate playing outside alone, I feel like it makes my game introvert, while when I play with people I feel open and I guess it shows and attracts people.

On Friday the weekly hack got canceled, which is good and bad. Good - it was BOILING outside on Friday! Bad - we had a new spot in mind. A small restaurant my dad is involved with wants to sponsor us with food drinks and music if we kick outside of it. Allot more public than our old spot, I was eager to give it a try.
So I didn't touch the bag on Friday and Saturday, which gave me ample opportunity to play with my new bad boy:
Image
This baby can shake my place's foundations when the volume's set on 3.

Now's Sunday, and I'm wrapping up a stepping session. Two highlights: Lots of blurs and reverse blurs, and flip blur (first hit). Almost gave up on flip blur but decided to give it a few more tries so I won't feel like a loser for not getting it.
Oh yeah I also hit ripwalk->ripwalk. Definitely improving with stepping!

Ended the session with a long, varied run. I love the new variety I can confidently throw in my runs now. When I remember the run, it's allot more dynamic in my mind than all my old runs. It's like my game gained new hues.

I am unsure on how much to keep doing whirls and steppings. Probably next Sunday I'll start focusing on new components. Any suggestions?

That's it. Time to go do push ups n' shit.

P.S I love shredding to Rancid's And Out Come The Wolves.

Again several days recap.
6 days of footbag this week, working on whirls and stepping as usual, with an outdoor shred on Friday. I've been hitting pdx whirls almost every time and my stepping mysteriously switched sides between flip and strong.
Today's Sunday, and I'm planning to start working on two other tricks this week. I'm not entirely sure what yet, there's too much I want.
I think I'll do Osis, I'm good with Osis, but not great. I can do 8 consecutive occasionally, while I want to get 10 consecutive every time. So that, and perhaps double dexes, like datw, dod etc. I feel like that's an important pillar of being awesome in footbag.

I might get back to teaching footbag real soon, I'm really worried about that since I'm not a good teacher. When I'm with kids I don't feel superior or better, so I'm not a good authoritative figure. I think I could teach all of them to be good freestylers if I can get them the equipment, though. The problem is that if I commit to it, I have to do it for an entire year. I hate commitments.
I'm leaning towards an easy "no". I'd rather teach people who come to shred because they want to and not because it's their school activity.

On the other hand, it's been a year since someone wanted to.

New spot sounds rad. Let us know how it works out.

Googling up footbag whizz brought up this:

So osis it is until I feel I've gained some major grounds on it.
This is how I practiced it:
Started with Osis->hand catch on both sides (almost no drops)
Moved to Butterfly->Osis->Pdx mirage (dropped on the pdx a few times, I hardly do those).
Then I started doing osis rpt untIl I realized that I do bad sets after the second osis. I decided to do osis->ss clipper and it helped, but I still need a few sessions of focusing on the set after the osis to achieve my goal of easily doing osis rpt x10 easily every time.

I'm pretty happy with this method, if anyone has a comment or an idea, please let me know!

When you make a post, there are a bunch of buttons above the text field. One for italics, one for quoting, one for code, bold, underline, etc. One of the topmost buttons says Youtube. Click on it, paste your link, then click on it again. So you want to surround your link with these two brackets:

That embeds it.

Good luck.

I thought you were some sort of computer guru Roy! Even I can do that ;)

I think you should try osis>far osis>ss clipper again and again.

I tried doing it the hard way, getting the embed code from youtube and putting it in the code tag, it didn't even cross my mind that there would be an "idiot" solution. Which makes me the idiot :P
I'll try the far osis on my next session although I imagine I will drop too often on the far osis to actually be able to drill effectively.

I am really the worst person to be advising, as I have one super strong osis and one very bad osis. So once you learn them, teach me :)

Don't worry about it Dan, it's just that my approach is to learn things I don't hit often, and drill things I hit often. I only drill things I know I shouldn't drop. I don't hit far osis often enough to drill yet. It's a good idea to work on it, though, after reaching my osis goal.

On a non-footbag side note, check this out: I'm on the cover of a new album of a friend's power metal band. The album's being released world wide soon:

I suppose breaking into the music industry as a model is just as good.

The album is named a "A new identity", but I'd rather they had a stranger looking into a mirror and me staring back, and not the other way around :) but I guess my face is too friendly to be featured on a power metal album cover

I feel bad posting on my blog without talking about footbag, so I'll write about yesterday's session, even though I didn't plan to. I played outside, solo, for the first time in ages, several people approached me and one even said she'll remember my name for when I get famous.
I've done a billion osis. I've hit osis->ss clipper x~20 and had noticed that my whirls and steppings deteriorated. I suppose I should get back to training them after finishing with osis and double dexes.

Weekly update -
It's been a relatively weak week in terms of footbag practice. I think I had 3 solo sessions and 1 outdoor session. Not terrible, but I felt bad for slacking off for 2 days. On the other hand, I had a first real band rehearsal with a full piece band for the first time this week, which took allot of time to organize and get ready to, and it went great. So I feel kind of redeemed due to that.

Osis has been dramatically improving, but I feel like I'm reaching a plateau with my current approach. I think that if I do 5 more osis practices the way I do them now, I'm not gonna improve a whole lot, so for my next session I'm going to try a paradigm change. I'll try to focus on leaning down before stalling, and turning my head to see the stall happening. In other words, I'll be working on fine details rather than on repetitions. I'll watch some videos of osis to see if I've missed any important elements in the execution.

After osis I'll be working on DATW out to in. Decided to separate in-out and out-in as two different tricks. Working on out-in will help with my DoDs and barflys and cool tricks like that. And after that, I'll get back to reinforcing whirls and steppings, which were dramatically improved, but not where I want them to be just yet.

This just in,
Tomorrow I'll be presenting footbag to 7th and 8th graders, super late notice and I'm going to do it alone. Oh well

And also, just footed Pixie DOD... No seal yet, but next session for sure, and on video! Also, hit toe grifter. Hell yes. Hardly did any osis as a result :)

This is also Israel's footblog, and finally I have something to write about footbag Israel. This is a big one :) I'm so excited.
Last post I talked about doing a school demo. Tomorrow I'll go into details on how it went when I have time at work to write, but at the end of it a bunch of kids approached me saying "you're Roy Klein?? wow!" and we started playing and it turns out they're good! They learned footbag last year from someone I know, and moved on to learn by themselves from videos and stuff, from footbag.co.il which I thought I was updating for myself, and Anz tricks.
Today I met them for an outdoor session and it was a blast. Two of them are gonna get quantums.

ANYWAYS the real highlight is that they made a video! And here it is:

I am going to teach them everything I know.

Progress. Fuckin' a!

Israel footbag journal entry:
On Friday I met three of the kids again for our weekly hack session. Now only the most interested in footbag came. There were Ron, Matan and Yuval.
Ron has an amazing crank, Matan can hit osis and infinity, and Yuval is the most newbie of the three, but has the tall&slender body figure. The Israeli Anaconda? All of them are severely single sided.
Ron and Matan kept leaving the hack circle to practice freestyle on their own :) Ron bought a pair of quantums from me and tried to get used to them.
After two hours of kicking and shredding, we played a few rounds of net with a real net bag, and everyone concluded the session to be a success. I tried to subtly hammer into them the importance of practice not just on weekends, and the importance of being both sided. We'll see next week how they improve.
(Today I saw on Aggressive Grounds that Ryan Mulroney wasn't very both sided, I didn't know that)
I hit on that session Merkon and spinning far pickup. Nothing exciting, but my spinning seems to be improving with me not really working on them. I tried whirr a few times and almost cleared the second dex. However I was nowhere close to being fast enough to stall afterward even if I did.

Today I had a solo session. Came very close to reaching my osis goal. First session that I felt very comfortable with consecutive oses. I must've hit osis x8 3 or 4 times. Quite a breakthrough. I really wanna reach my goal of osis x10 before moving on, but if it won't happen this week I'll call it quits.
I've also hit flip magellan x5 and some good guiltless strings.
I can't wait to move on to datw and double downs. I know it's gonna be hard but I really want to rule these tricks.

On a personal note:
On Thursday I stayed after work to play Call of Duty with a bunch of ppl at the office. It was a blast even though I was the most noob. Afterward I walked to some punk shows in Tel Aviv, got drunk and came back home in a cab. It was a great way to seal the week. Saturday was spent recording a home demo for one of my band's songs. It came out really nice. Will share soon.
