Pretty much hit rubberman again. Was easy! Then Jamez tried quantum rubberman. I got all but the last contact, but sure i can hit it. Hit 2 x pdx ripwalk, and played into mxtylplyk (bubbawalk).

I worked on "The drill" by FtB today, and hit it! Twice. Well half of it, I need to repeat it. It's not so secret anymore so here's a video:

So I'm in Portland now. So many good freestylers. Red is super nice, and can throw down some moves in footbag. I've had a few sessions with Flash and Nick. Nick is super controlled and Flash is just impossibly consistent. I'm really lucky to get to play with them all the time so far. Ben, James, Sam C., and Chase are all out here too. Ben is super fast. I want to be better, playing with these guys is good motivation. Haven't seen Sean Wingert yet - prolly wednesday. Also joining the Portland melting pot tomorrow is Chris Dean and Nate Linscott.

Red took me up to Mt. Tabor at night with James and the trees are super tall and slightly skinny - awesome sight, along with the sights of downtown. It's cool having hills, you get vantage points. Riding bikes on hills... is alright. Sometimes it's hard as hell, sometimes it's free downhill. Obviously.

There are cute girls here. Not like in Montreal, but still. Flash and I rode bikes to the food cart caravan and I had a really good chicken burrito, and scoped some hotties. Speaking of which, the first night on our way out of Pioneer Square these two super cute girls were all up ons asking about footbag. I coulda stayed there all night talking to them, but Red reminded we had a huge pizza that was inexpensive and tasted good to pick up. I did meet a cute Japanese/Chinese girl on Friday and we went out.

The Beaver Open was this weekend. It was raining off and on. My stuff remained mostly dry, but it was a small battle. Night glow in the dark golfing is the best! There was a bunch of Nets set up during the day. It was weird for me to see teenagers playing Net. I met Kenny Shultz! And in general there were a lot of old schoolers there. While I didn't know all their stories - I had a good feeling that I was with the roots of our sport. This girl Cedar whose dad gary is an OG told me some about everyone around while we watched Kenny play some net, and we got drizzled on. The OG's and new G's all applauded us on our freestyle. I played with Kenny - ths new kid on the block from eugene - been playing a year, no lavers, but still hitting stuff. I met and played with Aaron Orton. It was funny after he finished a sesh on the chess board platform, he says to Kenny Shultz, "thanks again for making up these moves."

Also, walked by and saw some 4 square going on - 3 kids and a teenaged dude. I just had to sweep victory right quick.

Now back, woke up had a sesh with Flash and CHase. Then dinner with Leia and her roomate. Yum - burger. Speaking of food - I'm building up my pantry and little meat so far, much less than I'm used to, so this burger tasted proncely golden, like the meat of a jag-you-are, that chicken burrito too - like the breast of an heron.

It was cool to see Leia, and her roomate. I'm glad that I know some people here and I've met some others. That's part of the reason for this traveling.

Only been here for a few days so far, and it's sweet. I miss you all back home at the same time. more later xoxo

Big Sesh today. Nasty Nate, Kurt and Shawnell came up and Chris Dean was in town too. Flash, James, Red, Joe, Chase and I rounded out the 10. No Nick, he had to work. Played well; I hit barrage>paradon>barfly>RPT on Red's suggestion. I was dreading the flip barfly a few moves in advance, and focused and got it as the last contact.
Nate is cool and nice; I'm glad to have met him. Hopefully see him again before the month is out.

2 seshies today. I've played every day since I've been here except one. And that day I did some mad biking. Among all the others days I did. And yesterday Flash and I played net. It's nice to feel totally drained of energy. You know you're living to the limit. But I'm getting good amount of sleep and waking up ready to do it all over again. My body is getting even fitter.

Some highlights from Sunday: I hit flip tomahawk for the first time (lft ft), and I hit gyro whirl>torque a couple of times based on Sean Wingert's suggestion. I had some nice long strings that day too. I'm trying to get some more consistency while I'm here, and saving the drills and harder stuff for end of session or smaller sessions.

Sunday started off with Nick and Ben, then ended with Sean after the rain came and went. That's so weird here, it'll drizzle and then stop. In chicago it'll rain all day or not at all.

Yesterday went to play net with Flash. We met up with Chris who won funtastiks, and Steve and another guy that I met at the Bevaer open. There were also some Laosian guys playing takraw too. They're older and prolly better than the guys we played with a few days ago (Fri). When we played Friday it was super fun. But yesh, yesterday was net and it was fun, and I can serve, but receiving is tough. Think I'm down for some takraw with Zeke when I get back to Chicago.

Today first sesh with Flash down by the track. Nice long strings, and then when Flash did some solo routine practice I did gyro whirl 10x BS. My rt foot is much better, almost hit them all without missing. Also hit gyro whirl>gyro whirl. And ps whirl>ps whirl maybe first time.
It's still amazing to see Flash play. It reminds me of when Jamez lived with us and you had to stop giving props b/c he deserved them every string.

2nd sesh with James Chance, also at the track. Quantum practice.
Hit Blubberman again, gyro butter back to back, quantum same butter>stepping same leg>RPT, almost quantum ss mirage>double switch>RPT, and DOD>double pickup>double switch>RPT but with stall pauses 2x.

Unfortunately my pup passed away. He was with us for 17 and a half years, and he was strong to the end with no major problems until the last day. when I left for my trip for Portland I made sure I hugged and kissed him as I do anyways every day, but I didn't think it would be the last time I'd see him.

When my dad called, I got on a plane as soon as I could pack and get a ticket, but I couldn't make it in time. I feel guilty that maybe he thinks I left him and he had to go without me. But i'm sure it's fine, and it's the way it is and everyone else in the family was there...

Now I just feel like part of me is gone. Something that has been with me since childhood. I try to think of times when I was in Grade school and high school and college and after and he was there the whole time. Growing with us and making us into better people along the way. He was there in my life in memories so far back I can't remember those days. I keep expecting to see him. I keep looking for him. Even for his smell or a piece of his fur on the carpet. I just grabbed his leash/rope and wound it around my hand like when we'd go for walks. It's not real to me. I want something to see and feel and I want him to be here to hug him and run with him.

And since I was gone for about a month beforehand it makes it weird for me since I wasn't seeing him every day anyway. It may make it easier, but I don't want it to be easier. It makes it more like I've forgotten him more already. And that's my biggest fear. I wish I could remember everything and write a book and I wish I had more pictures. But none of that stuff would compare anyway. But I need something. I never want the time to wash the feelings away.

Well, in the end he lived a long life and I did lots for him as he did for me and I really did hug him and love him every day. He was super strong and very special. Solid and beautiful throughout. I love him more than anything else in this world.

Footbag 3some yesterday. Cold and windy. But fun. I played every day whilst in Portland except 2 days, and I haven't played for a week since i got back. Nathan was more fluid then I remember, and Grant was more present. It's nice to have him. I contacted that other guy again to kick with us with the vids ya know.

I want to cruise down Irving park and look for indoor spots, especially now since zeke is so close we're all up ons Irving Park. Go in and ask churches and gyms and whatev. And then we can have one or 2 sesshies at UIC during the cold season, since tommy and grant are up there, but I don't want to go there every day. (far and so also expensive train).
