It's cool that people are looking for alternatives. Especially if it concerns using a knife to mod a pair of hard-to-get shoes.
But like so many before have said, there is no other choice but to cut them. The process is so simple, straightforward and short that a 13 year old kid could do it.

As for the Damian using unmodified Lavers remark, just look at Darly Genz. He played with completely removed toe box, so the bag landed on his toes. It worked for him (he was amongst the best at the time), but I doubt anyone here would recommend it.
I saw a lot of Jim Penske videos where he plays with Mr.Sandbag. And he plays like I can only dream of. But would I personally recommend Mr.Sandbag to anyone? No, I wouldn't.

In the world of professional Street Fighter gaming, there are people who play on a joypad or even a keyboard! Even though almost every serious Street Fighter player would laugh at anything other than a homemade Sanwa arcade stick, some people still use alternatives. And are good at it.

I've always wondered what makes these people stick with their choices.

I already got Etnie RVL's about a month ago. They work just fine for footbag. They are a nice suede, have a good toe, good insteps, etc.
