I figured i'd start a blog to keep track of my progress. I've been playing off and on since Dec07/Jan08. A total of probably 1 year. Recently I've been playing everyday for an hour or more. I really aim to keep this up for a few years. It is the best excercise and is extremely fun at the same time.
When I first started playing I lost 30 pounds. Then eventually I stopped playing and gained it all back. Now recently since i've picked it back up in full swing I have lost almost 20 pounds. I still need to lose about 20 more pounds to be at a good weight. I am at about 197 now.
Anyway today I played for about 3 1/2 hours because the weather was amazing. I felt like I could play all day until the last 15 mins where I got pretty tired. I hit 4 new tricks today and many new strings.
New tricks:
Diving ss butterfly bs
flip spinning osis
flip ducking osis
Recent new tricks:
Pixie whirl
New Runs:
Ducking Butterfly bsos
7 whirls in a row strong side
4 flip whirls in a row
3 spinning clippers in a row strong
2 spinning clippers in a row flip
Recent new runs:
clipper > spinning clipper > whirl > osis > RPT
Blender bsos
I love this game. It was fun and inspiring to kick at last weeks austin event. Everybody was playing so good and having a blast. That's how I feel about these little bags, Pure Love. Can't wait for another excuse to go back to Austin to kick w Ben and Cody and whoever else might show up. I'll come up with some goals to shoot for another time.
Peace

Had a session with some local footbaggers!! Brad and his friend Adam(? I think that was his name, sorry if im wrong) Word on the street is that there is an unkown freestyler that was playing on the seawall? We must find this guy. Corpus Crew might be in the making. Now to play in public areas to spread the word. Ben, you guys might have to come to corpus for a jam one of these days, who knows. Anyway, great week for footbag.

Thx Ben.
Had a good session yesterday, hit some new strings:
blender > blender (never thought i could do it)
dyno > dyno
3 blenders one string
swirl bsos with rev swirl in it (not new)
Also I've been playing with a 12 panel bag made by Ben Rea that i got last year. Just started using it for some odd reason, and I am almost convinced that 12 panels is just as good, if not beter than the beloved 32 panel.?.? Blasphemy? maybe. Or Ben just knew how to make a beastly 12 panel.
So to anyone out there that made read this, If you make 12 panel bags let me know please. Or if you don't, make one and see if it is pretty good. I want more!! I fear the day it gets holes.

Its been a while since I have writtin in here, but I've still been bagging on the regular. I did take about a week off to let my leg heal. I had a weird pain in my left leg that I couldn't understand. I have realized what caused it. Mainly pivoting for pdx moves the wrong way. I think I had got used to some worn out lavers that I had that would turn on the ground due to very low tread. So playing in newer shoes, the shoe wouldn't turn on the ground, and I was torquing my leg real bad causing pain later around the knee area. I have tried to correct this by actually hopping a little instead of trying to slide. The week off was just what my leg needed and is not hurting much anymore.
Yesterday I went to Portland and played with Brad in the 50 degree windy weather for 2 hours. It was fun though. Brad hit like 5 new tricks and a bunch of new links. He hit a run of about 15 or more contacts including almost every trick he can do right now. So that was cool. I hit tomahawk again as my highlight. We were playing mainly with my new Matt Bailey bag which is pure awesome and some with Brad's new Sheperd bag that is also very nice. Good times.
I really got to get to Austin soon to shred with the Austin Crew. For sure though I am going to Austin Feb 19 for a Mystik Journeymen show and then the following week Feb 26 for a Zion I show. But a visit is due in the coming weeks or so. Peace.

Cool!
I'll be out of town Feb 19-21 for the Las Vegas jam. However, the next weekend after that will be Texas Jugglefest. It's a lot of fun and they are VERY receptive to footbag. So just lettin' you know if you're planning to come to town that month.
Ben
BTW other stuff you might want to consider coming up for:
April 16-18 Austin Reggaefest (lots of hack circles)
April 24th Eeyore's Birthday (hippie festival with tons of hack circles)
TBD/May Southern Regionals in Houston.

Played today for the 4th day straight. Had fun kicking with the Austin Crew this weekend. I might have hit my first 6er Sunday, spinning blender. It was way too fast and blindsided to actually know if the dex was clean or not, tho i'm tending toward a clean dex. I need to keep this daily bagging up, it really helps with my endurance and progression.
On another note, my wife who never plays, kicks with me for like 5 minutes and hits a few atw's, toe to same side clippers, and learns toe kicks, wth. I see people struggle for weeks to get a single clipper. She has the gift of bagging and doesn't use it. Maybe one day.

Yesterday was day 6 in my ongoing "Play everyday" plan. Very good session. I have decided to work on a few moves exlusively instead of trying to hit every move I can, at the cost of not hitting them multiple times. Some hightlights of yesterday's session:
Whirl x 8 on strong side
Whirl x 6 on flip
Blender bsos
Dyno>Dyno
Did like 12 or more blenders on each side
Hit like 7 or more pdx whirls on each side
Spinning Clipper x 3
Spinning clipper x 2 flip
15 alternating clippers
9 infinities
I plan on working exclusively on blenders, pdx whirls, and infinities for about a week to make them solid. I can't believe I have never done this. Back when I rollerbladed, that is how I mastered a trick, by repeating the hell out of it.
Peace

Really good day of shred today. Hit 3 new moves, all 5's. G units seem to be my new shoe of choice.
Highlights:
Blurry Whirl
flip tomahawk
flip spinning pdx whirl
pdx whirl b2b
a run with blender bsos, dyno bsos, and ducking clipper
a bunch of drifters bs, finally figured this move out. Not as hard as I use to think it was. I should be incorporating them into my runs soon I hope.
I'd have to say this was one of the best sessions I've ever had. Stuff was just landing for me.

Thanks alot bro. Yesterday was a decent day of bag I guess. One huge accomplishment was spinning pdx whirl mid run, with some spining clippers bsos. Tried a bunch of pdx blenders, never got it. I swear that spinning pdx blender seems to be the exact same difficulty. I'll try some more today.
Goals:
Flip Stepping
Try Atomics
Whirl > Blender > RPT
Rev Whirl > Dyno > RPT
Zooming pdx whirl
