Money Line Odds. What the hell?
Money Line Odds. What the hell?
So, I have a lab assignment I need to complete in my computer science class. I have to write a program which prompts the user for two values: the odds on an event, and the dollar amount of a bet. The program will then output how much money you would win if your bet wins. The thing is, I have no idea how money line odds work. I've read and read things about it, but I just can't seem to get my head around it. I don't need help with the program itself. Once I understand how the odds work, I can do the assignment. So, if any of you gamblers out there (Or any other person willing to explain), could help me understand how this work I'd forever be in debt.

if the odds are 2:1, and the bet is $25, and you win, you get $50.

if you're curious to know how I found this information, I'll tell you, it was actually pretty tricky...
i moved my cursor over the little box on www.google.com, typed in "money line odds", and pressed enter.
it was the first result.
glad to be of service.
