@Roy I think you should be right to come out by Narooma. Some of us are looking at going to Christchurch, New Zealand to hang out with Phil immediately after Narooma as well, you should come along for that too.
So I just had the last week off work. Today I have a shift, then two days off, then off to Airlie Beach. Haven't played much lately, but have been keeping fit. Have been playing a fair amount of squash, I'm really happy to be getting back into that. On Saturday we are going to play at the courts in Parliament House. I think that should be pretty sweet.
I had a session with Copey last Saturday, it was pretty frustrating, I was dropping a lot of things I should be able to hit. I hit 7 ripwalks which I think is a pb...I should be able to do a lot more. I hit bedwetter, that was probably the only reasonably hard trick I hit. I had whirlwind come off my foot a couple of times, but I wasn't really close to actually hitting it.
Will probably play this afternoon if things go to plan.

Today I wore the Quantums I bought in Berlin for the first time in a long time. I have been wearing an old pair of lavers, basically running them into the ground. They now have a crack in the sole of the shoe, so I think that is the ground.
I have a new pair of lavers in my cupboard as well, but for some reason I like to switch between, just so I don't mind playing in either.
I just got an email about performing at the opening ceremony of the National Futsal Championships, which are held at the AIS each year (where I work). Unfortunately I'll be away. I gave the lady a couple of other contacts, and told her to keep in touch if she's got anything else coming up. So hopefully something comes out of that, it's an awesome opportunity, something I'm not too pleased to turn down. Anyhow, I'll be busy being by the beach, showing my managerial skills....that's what I'm meant to be doing anyway!

I found a pretty nice place to play once the sun goes down. It's very hot up here, I think it's about 37 at the moment, but only going to get hotter as the summer continues.

Got the day off today, think I'll swim in the lagoon to kick things off.

Went here to Whitehaven Beach, one of the main attractions of the Whitsunday Islands, it was pretty awesome. Went with a company called Ocean Rafting...didn't cost me anything, was pretty great.
Had such an awesome day, then did some good partying during the night. As per usual things turned sour when we went to some sketchy nightclub and I got thrown out.
Had a great shred today. I find have a kick is one of the best ways to overcome a hangover. Especially if you kick by the lagoon and can go for a swim immediately after. I hit matador bs, a few 5>5 combos...I am still yet to hit that elusive 5>5>5.
phoenix> pdx blender was nice.
I also hit this long run, about 20 contacts, mostly 4s, but all guiltless, as I was going along a German girl said "holy scheisse" and I thought that would be a good point to finish my kick on.
Working this afternoon, this is the time when the management begins. I have not done this long and already one of the girls broke her hand falling down the stairs, workers comp...woo....

I had a sweet shred by the lagoon tonight. Played for about an hour, some good highlights.
Smog bs
Pigbeater
Atomic rev swirl
Sweated a lot. It is very humid up here, it's not something I'm used to. It'll come eventually. I have 6 weeks up here. One week is down already, and now I get into more manager-ing business, which involves a shitload of paperwork, which is not that fun. But this is a really good opportunity for me, and will definitely look nice on my resume in the future.
Not long before I headed on my trip I started going out with a girl in Canberra, Francisca. She is going to come up and visit me on Christmas day. I am pretty excited at that prospect. The sound of spending Christmas and New Years alone, or with a bunch of people I just met that day is not hugely appealing, as we normally do a big family christmas. She is from Chile, so I think I might try to make some sort of traditional Chilean dish for the day she arrives. I don't know how competent I will be at this, but I think it's worth a try.
If I can play almost every day I'm going to be very impressed with myself, I've been playing quite alright in recent times.

played again today, left it a bit late so had to find a spot with decent lighting, which wasn't as easy as it sounds.
Fairy paradon was a new addition to my trick list. Today was stressful at work, it was good finishing the day with a shred. I started my day waking up from a crazy dream where I had these guys chasing after me, due to a place I had rented in Sydney, and just forgotten about. I woke up wondering if I had possibly rented a place in Sydney, but I'm fairly certain I haven't!
I just had one of the staff told me that she's out of action for up to 6 weeks...most likely 3 weeks at least. As of next week she would be my most experienced person. Now I have a huge team to work with- there's me, Sarah who started three weeks ago, Sophie who started last week and one more who's currently on holidays.
I think I may accrue a large amount of time in lieu while I'm up here. I guess it will be good to put on my resume. And it's not like it's going to kill me either. It's stressful, but in the end it will be a worthwhile experience.
I bought some new books today
- Homer- The Odyssey
- Tim Winton- Breath
- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn- One Day In The Life of Ivan Denisovich

Kicked this morning. Took the day off from footbag yesterday just lazed about, did some de-stressing which was perfect. Kicked again today, was feeling good. Hit smoke (pixie drifter) bs, the flipside is a new trick for me. I actually found it easier to do on the flip than the strongside.
Just working now, things seem to be running a bit smoother now, the beginning of this week was crazy. I have the next two days off, I want to buy a bike and have an explore around the place. I have barely done any exploring around here yet. Might hire a kayak for a while on Saturday, have a bit of a paddle around.

as a matter of fact it happened again last night. I had the sense to not say anything, to just leave. I swear all the security guards in the world are out to get me.
I had a great one hour solo session yesterday, began really strongly with some good warmups (100 kicks, 100 toe stalls, 50 insides, 20 ss clippers each side, 40 clippers side to side, 45 infinties, worked a bit on BOPs, got more than usual, 16 osis, sadly that's a new PB)
Up here in the tropics you just sweat so much, it's insane. I hit a couple of new tricks as well. I hit diving pdx whirl, and I hit tombstone for the first time. Both of these I hit first try.
I'm really happy with where my game is headed, and my life in general actually. This has been a pretty amazing year, I have made so many new friends, finally went overseas, went to worlds, played lots of footbag, saw heaps of bands, have a great girlfriend. Yep, 2009 has been quite the year. I can't believe it's almost over.

played again today, by the lagoon. More sweat. So much more sweat.
Pixie ss motion
8 x rev swirl (new pb)
Some long runs
Some fun tricks.
Just ordered a pizza, only $6 on a Tuesday night. Starting to get pretty stressed by this manager business. Looking forward to the holiday I'm going on at the end of it.
3 days til Christmas, Francisca comes up here on Christmas Day, really looking forward to that.

yeah, we have a hooooooooootttt Christmas. In some places in Australia there are serious bushfires this time of year, but I don't know of any that are out of control at the moment.
For my family we generally do a big lunch thing with all the family, it's a lot of seafood and cold meat sort of stuff (ham, turkey etc). Maybe a trip to the beach before or after the lunch (both if the swell is good and we're at home in Bega).
This year my Christmas will begin with work at 6.30 in the morn. Not particularly excited by that segment. Much more excited for the part once I finish work.

lol, Dan is out of the loop a little at his beach utopia
There has been serious fires in NSW this week - I think 9 houses destroyed, and although there's been a cool change, fires are still burning. SA has a "catastrophic" bush fire warning today too.
Nice work with pixie ss motion Boyle! I like that move. Also I feel your pain re: early starts. I drunkly agreed last night to work at a bar/pub a friend of mine owns, and somehow that results in me being up now, at 6:30am. At least I'm still drunk at the moment so it doesn't feel as bad as it will tomorrow

mmmm, the news here doesn't focus on nsw etc very much...I'm totally out of the loop actually, I haven't seen any of the papers in the last few days. The news up here is that great mix of "cat rescued from tree" mixed with "former resident of local area signs for club such and such" with a little bit of "get the special at joe's pub tonight". So I have been trying to avoid it.
So today did not begin well. I stayed up pretty late, as I didn't finish work until aobut 10. I was not due in til 12.30, but I got a call at 7.30 from a backpacker- "there is no one at reception we need to go on our sailing trip". So I was straight out of bed, direct to reception, the girl who was meant to start at 6.30 had not made an appearance. She came eventually...but now I'm just going to work from 5-9. So not so bad in the end really. Not so disastrous. Annoying, but not such a big deal.
What it does mean is I will get some valuable shred time. It's hot all the time, but the spot I like to play in is a bit shady, so it's ok. I still sweat like crazy, but then I can go straight into the pool afterwards.
Thanks for the props everybody. I'm pretty happy with the way my game is developing, I feel a lot of different parts of my game are coming together, and it's making my overall runs a lot stronger.
So Worlds '10 look like they will be in the US. I'm pretty keen to go again. I'm heading to London in May, probably just for 2-3 weeks. I'm guessing Worlds would be late July/early August...so I could just take some annual leave, a couple of weeks leave without pay...make an appearance, do a little travel afterwards. Sounds nice...hopefully there will some kind of incredible special on at some stage.
