I've always hated osis too.

I've gotten them much more consistent lately by forcing myself to drill them every session. I started doing osis x 30 (not all in a row of course) every warm up. I just see how many I can do in a row and don't worry about drops. I hit a personal record of 16 the other day. Now I usually do 40-50 before each session. It was a pain in the ass in the beginning but now it's kind of fun. I also do 40-50 contacts of the BOP drill every warmup too which is nice because I've gotten good at PDX mirage out of osis. I know it's pretty "DUH" advice to say drill it but sometimes it's easy to ignore well known advice. So yeah, I suggest you start doing osis x 30 every session and see what happens.

Pixie paradon is HAWT! Mucho props! I still have yet to hit a triple dex :x but I guess I really haven't been trying them.

It's comforting to hear I'm not the only osis-retarded player in the world :) I totally felt like that when I was shredding with Jon Schneider. I felt I was disappointing him every time I dropped on osis.

Right now I'm still trying to hone my stepping sets every session, subliminally trying to hit ripwalk x6 even though I still haven't made it past 3.
I think I could hit blurriest if I really try but seeing how I hit Blizzard only about 70% of the time maybe I should wait a bit on that.
What's revup by the way? I think you told me at worlds and I forgot and I can't find it online. I know it's swirling something, right?

After I'm done with working on osis I'll try to adopt the 40 contacts osis before every session.

Me and Cod sucks as Osis aswell. It used to say "No Osis Posse" in his signature. Maybe it still does.

Revup is Reverse Swirling Pickup. Fun and good looking trick.

Having a good footbag week. Tomorrow it'll will be sealed, if weather permits, by my friend videoing me playing for a school project.

I hit Paradon bsos today! I think Paradon is easier than dod and will probably become a part of my strings sooner.
I cleared the dexes for Blurriest several times, but no cigar yet.
Footed diving whirl. I have no idea how people do ducking whirl moves, it's so hard to time them right!

People have mentioned my warm up strings seem more relaxed and slow mo'd lately, which is great because that's where I'm aiming. I also intend on slowly bringing my string length up to par, it's been degrading lately.

Nothing exciting, what can I do. Just another week :)

you got the ducking whirl moves in the second part of your sentence, it's 100% about timing.

I have not actually ever hit paradon bsos. Yesterday was the first time I hit it on my flipside. That's a move that I have let lag behind unfortunately.

I'm beginning to get weird pains in various parts of my legs. I have no idea if it's related to those double dex to clipper moves that seem a bit strainy, but I'm going to start working on osis starting today, hopefully it'll ease things up. Last session I did osis x 8, felt good. I also did datw inout-> datw outin. Also something I've wanted to hit for a while.

Once I'm done with osis, and depending on whether my legs feel better, I'll do another week of double down stuff & hopefully solidify them.

I just got back from the Israeli Footbag Championships for youth! The amount of participants was lower than previous years (allot of people didn't show up, we suspect it's due to the fact we had it at noon rather than evening). But everyone had a good time and gave better performance than ever!

We had 3 events: Net, circles and freestyle. None of these events resemble in the standard footbag events, as they're tailored for newbies of the game. Circles is actually a hack contest, emphasizing bag control with kicks and passes

The winner of the freestyle event, Matan, did a performance with tiltless links and only about 2-3 drops (in comparison, last year's champion couldn't do a tiltless combo). I brought my camera and had someone take pictures and videos, which I'm copying to my computer at the moment and will upload a few soon enough.

The top three freestyle winners had lavers/quantums, which made everyone else realize how important it is to play with proper equipment. At least 4 kids approached me and asked about getting shoes. I need to figure out a way to import shoes here without the ridiculous shipping price.

I'm so happy there are people beside me who are passionate for footbag who organize these events and organize youth classes for footbag. This is not my doing, I'm only helping out, consulting, providing equipment and setting example. I could've never done all of this myself. Hopefully we'll have a proper All Israeli championships in early 2010, but I fear there aren't enough participants to justify that.

osis x 10
Spinning whirl :) Hit it easily first try, second and third try footed it, fourth and fifth wasn't even close. Very odd.
Ducking whirl still eludes a seal.
Some of the mysterious pains have gone away, one still remains. Kinda feels like a stretched ligament in the back of my knee. In the morning I thought I won't be able to play at all since flexing my knee was kinda painful.

So here's a picture of some of the winners of the latest event:
Image
The flag in the bag says "footbag".
Check out the shred shoe ratio! These are all the shred shoes in Israel, but mine, in one picture though :) Matan, with black shirt in middle, won gold in Freestyle. Ron, to the far right was close second. He was the favorite, but Matan trained hard and earned it.

Winter's really setting in now, getting cold and rainy. I kind of like playing in the cold, it makes me really appreciate every minute out there, I try to make it worth it. There was a dust cloud covering most of the country on Thursday, though, and I figured it'd be a bad idea to play in that. I'm not THAT hard-core.
Today I played in Rishon, only 2 hackers came, which is 2 more better than nothing. I squeezed several dods and paradons midrun and both sides. Earlier I said these two are probably not gonna become midrun tricks for me by the end of training, but they sort of did, and I'm glad I finally surpass my expectations rather than fall short on them.

ss osis x 6 bs
Tapping osis (atomic ss osis) first try.
Will try Flux (atomic osis) and Osmosis (Quantum ss osis) next session.

I find it's hard to concentrate on osis compared to when I'm working on tricks I don't hit often yet. I get sidetracked easily into strings.

Maybe try the Czech-way? Doing themed runs instead of usual drilling.

Ah there's a Czech way? Why did no one tell me :) So the idea is to just do runs with more osis in them than usual?

Yeah exactly. Play in and out of it with various things, do it out of different sets and surfaces etc.

Paradons can be painful.

Set too high, attack the bag too strongly, spend the next 5 minutes rolling on the floor for kicking your own family jewels

At least I hit Flux and Osmosis as planned, and several mid-time blenders. But MAN am I traumatized.

I really think I should be hitting Torque but I just don't get it.

After hitting crispy torque bs first try, I hit a perfect torque. Couldn't reproduce it. But totally got the YESSS feeling :)

Also, observation: dod goes allot easier if the first dex is done slow and the second fast. Doesn't work for paradons.

I've just concluded 6 days of playing every day, mostly working on osis Czech style (thanks for the idea, Asmus)!
I feel like I've made great strides, and gonna go for 2 more sessions of osis before moving on to swirl.

I'm planning to record a Hebrew tutorial tomorrow concerning Pixie. I notice that people usually don't understand what's going on when they see a pixie trick, and I want to remedy that. Plus, there's a kid who always the his pixies and I want to video it on slo mo so he knows what it should look like.

A week without playing :(

On Tuesday we had a fun day at work that stretched too long, and on Thursday I got sick (just in time for new years. I planned on shredding and going out as my last actions of the previous decade, instead I sneezed a lot and played Mass Effect).

I'm still a bit off-ish but am planning to try and play today.

Started working on swirls. Last night's session:

The good: Hit toe swirl bs! First time for both, and both were perfect. And I was worried :)

The bad: I played shit in general, I couldn't keep the bag controlled for 10 contacts. I hate bad sessions.

I've discovered that when doing a normal swirl, thinking of moving the leg back a bit before dexing helps with hitting the swirl, although I couldn't get a decent stall out of them yet, it was always a stall I couldn't do anything out of.

I'm always surprised to find that all the tips in the world aren't as good as figuring out a method by myself.

That is pretty much the most used tip on swirl. ;)
When it get better, you should work osis > swirl (rpt), it needs lots of control on both of the tricks.
Try working inside set muted swirl. I really like that trick and its really easy.
