Steel City Freestyle
Thanks for the challenge, Matt- btw your orange bag (the one I have used so far) is perfect. Thanks!
So clipper set it would be same side osis right? I am just trying to get the move correct. I loved the vid, btw.
It is a sound challenge and I trust your judgement, so I will attempt it.
Something else to look forward to.

Since I gave two weeks notice at my job (because I have a better one lined up), I have decided to do as little work as humanly possible. And so I just read everybody's newest blog entries on the first page. Pretty fun to check out everyone's personal journey through the sport and what tricks they've just hit or are working on.
Too bad Pittsburgh winter + busy lives = no footbag. I did manage to hit, uh...DODing same osis in my bedroom, which made me pretty happy. Not ocean or motion, I guess, but something like that.
And, oh snap, look who's slumming in the SCF blog. J$!!!!!! Ahhhhh yeeeeah.

yo jake, i was telling ian and matt that i need to head to pittsburgh this spring on a solo trip to help my dad with a few things and pick up some kick ass power tools. but i digress. my point is that i can plan this trip pretty much whenever i want, and i want to do it when you're gonna be in town. so, keep me posted there buddy. and happy holidays to steel city guys too.
edit: and matt, your idea to read the blogs on the first page is a cool one. i shall take the challenge tomorrow as well. it's good to find out more about footbag potential friends out there. good call

Kicked with Matt. First time kicking at all for aprx. 22 days.
*Flip Tomahawk (first time clean and verified on any side? I will consider it a new move as it felt like one.)
*Whirl x5 on strong side (other than tomahawk-right)
*Whirl x2 on weak side, all with better sinkage
*Spinning clipper-twirl hand, first two tries of the day
*Hippy atomics, both sides
*Weak side simple swirls
*Deep torques on both sides a few times and bsos
*Right side blender
*Ripwalk-weak side spinning clipper
*Spinning clipper x2 on strong side, first try
*Ripwalks- string on weak side (new, lower initial set and sinkage- low pop but manageable and solid)
*Bailed to hippy-tapping osis. Should work on these and practice with popping dynos.
Looking forward to a session tomorrow with Bob R. and Matt.

Kicked yesterday (solo) and today (with Matt.)
Highlights Yesterday:
*Ducking Clipper- drifter- simple swirl
*Paradox drifter
*Spinning PM, weak-side
*Symp. Whirl, left side two different times
*A bunch of other drifters
Today:
*New move: Whirr (right side)
*Many solid pixies on both sides
*Hippy atomics on both sides
*Some drifters on both sides
*Spinning clipper- drifter strong/weak side (respectively)
*A couple decent strings
Matt was unstoppable today. I wouldn't know where to start. Predator B2B? Yeah, maybe I would start and stop there.

Nice, I was wondering what you guys have been up to.
Whirr is cool and you get props for that for sure.
But I personally give you even more props for weakside spinning pdx mirage. For one, I like that trick probably more than gyro mirage. For two, I find it difficult even on strongside. For three, weakside on that trick for me is totally silly. So, good work by you

I have been thinking- I don't really know if I hit spinning pm. What I hit was a pm with a spin in between, but now it seems that it was a non-muted gyro-clipper. Regardless, I have hit both versions on both sides I am sure.Rieferman wrote:Nice, I was wondering what you guys have been up to.

I still can't believe how clean the pixies were though! I seriously feel like a kid again! Like my life has been on hold for fifteen-odd years while it finally clicked! And to think, it was a session after almost no play in 3 weeks where I was so full that I could barely keep from puking!
Yep. Life makes no sense and I can't wait to kick again soon!
Back to stress-ville. See you again after a a few days of major installing and subtle technical correspondence...
In case you were wondering how fat I got after the holidays and after having no time to kick:

At PGH airport. Heading to Chicago for few days. Working for an artist on something very cool but hard to manage. Very stressful days. Crashing computers, trying to get software that hasn't yet been documented to work with stuff that I am programming myself in an environment that that is not yet stable nor fully documented. Par for the course. I am sure that I secretly love it, but that doesn't stop me from executing the learned, obligatory blue-streak from time to time.
Last time I played footbag it was a metabolic, meditative endeavor. Felt like a samurai climbing towards a battle. It's the times like these where things in my life start to coagulate. Working on specialized projects that are what I always dreamt of doing. Having to take breaks, but still engrossed in the variable, makeshift constructive fog of a professional (artist in this case, I suppose.) It only makes sense that in the few bits of time I had to play footbag I was able to overcome my usual limitations and apply my focus onto improving my game.
All I want to do right now is play footbag. I did a left-sided pixie set in my bedroo-side ones. I can't help but think about how even if I can't hit whirling swirl on my weak side, if I modify my whirl to match the first two thirds I should be able to hit blender solid. Both sides. Maybe even whirling symposium swirling osis. So much fun awaits me. I say this even though I have a mortal fear of flying. Lol.
Gonna miss my lady for few days. She continues to grow on me after all of this time. We went see the last day of the Shepard Fairey exhibit at the Warhol museum today. If I was still concentrating on 2D work, it would have crushed me. So much of it is exactly what I had been interested in. I was such a hater. Now I get it. Holy shit. Makes me want to get my MFA about 100 times over now.
