Importance of rest

Post by Rieferman »

I'm sure this has been covered, but what the heck, it's a forum and having redundant conversations is what we do. yo.

so anyways, I took 2 whole days off from kicking this past weekend. And I was superman last night while playing. I actually had forgotten what it was like to feel fast and energetic. I had some nice breakthroughs on form on a few tricks because I could concentrate better and get more reps in etc.

Anyways, rest is a good thing. One day off isn't always enough.

One day off isn't always enough.
Particularly if you hadn't taken good care of your body for 30 plus years (as I'm finding out).

DAMN YOU STUFFED SPINACH PIZZA and double bacon cheeseburgers, italian beefs, chicken parmeezians, Villa Palermo Chicken fingers, gyros and my general lack of willpower and discipline.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN YOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!

This thread could be renamed "importance of eating pizza."

Anyway, on topic (as I look down the glasses perched at the end of my nose) right now, I'm not taking many rest days. But I'm still getting enough rest. For me, kicking exhausted was never a good idea; it made playing footbag feel like an obligation, and it wasn't fun. I guess it just comes down to knowing how much you can push your physical limits.

Milan (who understands and speaks perfect english) told me he can only shred for 1.5 hours ideally. But he does it twice a day :D
Ive had fun footbagging but I dont think my typical 3-6 hour sessions helped alot. When I was first learning I hit some of my best stuff in that 5th to 6th hour range where I was exhausted but could still learn. After that I still did epic sessions but it just made me sloppy as heck. an hour or 2 of very focussed footbag is best vs long sloppy sessions.

Off topic- but I think its very HUGE to end every session on a positive note. If you cant do that then you know you pushed too far.

It sucks for me cause I'm working 6 days a week at a recycling center. My legs are always to shot to play. The only way I feel capable to play is if I have a day of rest and I'm not getting it. Life sucks
