This last Bag I sewed was too dang small!! its smaller than a golfball, too small to even really kick, has too much bounce and just plain sucks... I used .55" pents and .70" hex's short side 25%... Thinking of trying .70" pents this time, the hex's seem fine but the pents are too little. What do you guys use to get softball size? I sew not too shallow and not too deep, and a good amount of gather... the last pent size I used was .82 and it came out bigger than a golfball
.7 pent
.75 hex, 23% short
Who even calculates the amount of bite from their edge? I don't even know. wth.
Medium gather.

pencap gather? I used the bottom of my fine point sharpie which is probably same size as pencap... i dont think i'd use that on my next bag though, maybe a AA battery or similar size, to keep the pents alittle bigger, and the bag a tad looser... Hopefully I get it right this time, as it sucks changing templates all the time!
The more you gather, the smaller your panels will become.
Golfball size used to be the norm, but don't kick yourself for making a bag larger than golfball size. If you can delay and set it, then it's fine.
