Atomic Torque (silo)

Post by Donovon »

Alright, so atomic torque = silo.
Is this 5 add or 6 add? Ive read both.

Toe > Op out [dex] > Op in [dex] > Front? spin [bod] > Clip [xbd][del]

-Would the op out > op in constitute a paradox?
-Are there any toe-set tricks that would constitute a paradox?

It would get xdex if you count xdex, so there's your 6th.
I've never heard the name Silo before though.

Also, as far as toe-set paradox, you can get it from spinning (ie: toe backspinning pdx mirage) I can't think of another example, but I have a feeling there are others?

Are xdex's usually counted though?
Could you show me exactly where the xdex would occur?

So what about nuclear (opp?) torque?
Clip > Same out [dex] > Op in [dex] > Front spin [bod] > Clip [xbd][del]
Would the first dex be considered pdx? (making a definite 6? add)

Nuclear = paradox atomic set? I do not understand the paradox here. I understand the paradox in the Quasi set, i just cant grasp why or if nuclear would constitute a pdx add.

Lots of people count xdex.
I don't :p
I think it's Finland that doesn't too.

I'm not sure what the deal is with paradox and xdex, but I know lots of people consider sumo (nuclear mirage) to be a 5, so there they are counting pdx AND xdex. I thought I remembered a time when it was specified that you couldn't combine the two. But I have a bad memory.

Nuclear gets paradox if the following component is "op". So "pdx tap" (nuclear same mirage) isn't actually pdx. Xdex works in a similar way as paradox but for tricks that can't get paradox, like atom smasher (atomic mirage). So the xdex in atomic torque comes with the combination of the full dexes of the illusion set and the twist in the following mirage.

Both are dumb and you really shouldn't worry about adds. Really.

Alright.
That sort of clears things up.
Nuclear same side needs its own nickname, or at least a name other than pdx tapping, imo.

I've never heard Silo before either.

If there is any trick right now that exists as a combination of uptime (set) and downtime (core) components, and said trick does not yet have a common name, it doesn't need one. Even if it's a new combination that no one had thought of yet, it doesn't need its own name (especially considering that if no one had hit it until now, it certainly isn't "common"). There's already too many "common names", and adding more to the list is only counter-productive to the development of freestyle footbag.

And there is nothing wrong with saying "Nuclear near". Otherwise, we are looking at renaming every other same side element.

If you happen to dream up (and hit on video) some completely new uptime OR downtime component, by all means, name it.

ie: symp drifter swirl spinning inside (one jump, all downtime). Go hit it, and then you can name it. :)

I actually completely agree with the naming thing. I think of most moves via their breakdown.
I think i was merely thrown off by the concept of pdx tapping. Nuclear same/near makes much more sense to me.
