Bag number 11 - messed up 12/8 blur pattern, filled with metal bb's, actually like this bag more than I should

Bag number 12 - Soccer pattern, steel shot fill (sacrificed a Dragons-poop bag) comes in at 52g and is sweet to kick!

Feel like I am getting consistent results now, stainless steel filler orer on the way! Perhaps soon I will have a bag suitable to impress on the public...

that sheepskin hybrid is trippy, brian! very cool bags.

gary, it's tough to tell from just pictures but i think you want to gather a bit more. the bag won't be as soft before break in, but afterwards it will retain its roundness better in the air. plus, high gather looks cool

here are 3 custom orders ready to ship. the one with purple pents might not be big enough for the customer, so if he doesn't want it, it'll be for sale.

Willl T, thanks for the careful eye and good advice, i put a bit more gather in bag 13, the 12/8 blur pattern that looks almost identical to bag 11 posted above. You also reminded me to take better photo's, you would never believe i once made a living working in a photo studio!

Bag 14 is the soccer style, yet another template, I might stick with this template for a while. Even more gather - I think we have the gather just about right now. What is agonizing is the closer your bags get to being correct, the more you notice the small things that make it incorrect, I now see my stitching need to be a little more consistent in stitch width and height to keep the thread showing in areas.

Will, Matt, and anyone who can offer feedback, I greatly appreciate it, perhaps I can send you guys a bag for evaluation and feedback.

Both with stainless pellets, sorry, I have not weighed them yet, (its the weekend and the scale is at work...)

Gary, your stitching is just fine, as far as playability is going to be concerned. However, your fill has a much bigger effect than the stitching than playability. I may have said this to you before, I'm not sure, but I recommend bags that are about 50-60% full and 70-80 grams.

if you follow the 50-60 70-80 rule, and you stitch with a little consistency and common sense (ie: don't overgather, don't use some super stiff material), you cannot go wrong.

Your stitching will even out with effort and time

but like matt said, it won't really have an effect on playability once you reach a certain uniformity.

Bag number 15, and I can say for the first time - I'm truly happy with the results. The bag has enough gather to hold itself in a good round shape (till broken in)

USL - three stitch - 60g - Stainless steel fill. I know I should not sell it, but I need to justify spending some money on some more fabric now. It may be time to open up the GG bags for sale thread!

32 panel pents and triangles
I used a weird type of fabric. Can anyone tell me what type it is?
Im thinking microsuede or something but it does not look as soft and cuddly as ultrasuede. It is dual sided, shiney on one side and slighty furry on the other.
The filler is copperhead bbs walmart sells 2 kilograms worth for 7 dollars! Thats enough for around 30 of these small bags (this one weighs 70 grams.)
Tell me whatcha think, how can I improve the quality etc. Thanks!

Stitching looks good. fabric looks like ultrasuede that I've seen in the past but I'm no expert. I recommend shiny side out and furry side in. nice stuff.

Yeah me mum told me it was some type of fauxsuede but it seems too easy to be pulled apart to be ultra. While I was stitching it strings of fabric would be pulled apart from the edges of my pentagons.

Nice job - 32's were intimidating for me at first. If part of the fabric pulls off then it is a woven fabric. For a footbag you will have better luck with a non-woven fabric as the stitches are less likely to pull.

The company i work for has loads of fabric samples so i have been lucky to try lots of different fabrics that make great, how shall we say this, juggling balls? In other words aesthetically pleasing, but not as good to kick with. laminated fluffy fleece makes a pretty good conversation peice

Keep practicing on cheap fabric and you will be stitchen' great by the time you get some good stuff.

a trick i use with woven fabrics is to apply a little bit of clear nailpolish around the edges of the panels after you cut them out. this will help your fabric to resist fraying. others i have asked think it isn't entirely necessary, but i always do it simply for peace of mind. just be sure to do it somewhere with ventilation, or take a break every couple panels.

yeah, that microsuede looks like i frays a lot! i would follow will's advice and try some nail polish.

three bags:

bright bag for queency, animal colorburst for liz, and two stitch spiky for....
